CARS.COM — Prices for Subaru’s performance cars, the WRX and WRX STI, will increase for the 2017 model year. The WRX sees an increase of $125 for the base and Premium trims, but the Limited trim jumps $625. The 2017 WRX STI price for the base model increases $525 to $36,015.
The 2017 WRX will start at $27,515, including an $820 destination fee, for a base model with a six-speed manual transmission and standard all-wheel drive. Base, Premium and Limited trims are available. Adding a continuously variable automatic transmission costs $1,200 on the WRX Premium and Limited trims. The top-level WRX Limited with a CVT tops out at $33,015. By comparison, The 2016 VolkswagenGolf GTI two-door with a six-speed manual starts at $25,815; its top trim costs $32,450.
For 2017, Subaru will add reverse auto-braking to its EyeSight safety system that’s optional on the Limited trim. Models with EyeSight also come with steering-responsive fog lights. All trims have standard automatic headlights, one-touch front windows and new headliner material.
Stepping up to the more powerful WRX STI will run you $36,015 for a base model. Limited is the only other trim, topping out at $40,815 with destination; that’s a $25 increase over the top 2016 WRX STI Limited.
Blind-spot warning, rear cross-path detection, push-button start and keyless access are standard on the STI Limited.
The WRX and WRX STI were redesigned for 2015; the 2017 versions are not based on the all-new 2017 Impreza that was unveiled at the 2016 New York International Auto Show.
