Toyota is recalling some 130,000 of its popular Tundra pickup truck over an optional Toyota tonneau cover that may detach from the vehicle while driving.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2022-23 Tundras. A detached tonneau cover at speed could increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Toyota will request owners confirm if their truck is equipped with the tonneau cover in late March. If the truck is so equipped, the automaker will advise removing it until a remedy is available. Once a remedy is available, Toyota will send another notification. For further information, owners can call Toyota at 800-331-4331, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
