CARS.COM — First came that game show, “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” The answer is, evidently: Many people aren’t. Now, fifth-graders are developing marketing plans for Tesla. Who runs the world? Yes, Queen Bey, girls do — specifically fifth-grade girls.
Fifth-grader Bria Loveday got Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s attention with a clever marketing idea. While Tesla doesn’t invest in much marketing as a company, Bria had noticed the proliferation of homemade Tesla commercials floating around the interwebs and suggested a friendly competition — she sent her ideas in a letter to Tesla.
Loveday’s idea is that amateurs the world over make and submit their Tesla commercials, and the best ones get theirs aired. Simply put, hers is a crowdsourced and relatively free publicity scheme. After seeing the letter, which her dad had tweeted out, Elon Musk replied, “We’ll do it!” and now the wheels are in motion.
All Bria wanted in exchanged for her clever idea? A Tesla tee. We hope Elon saw fit to hook her up.
By the way, you can see if you’re smarter than a fifth-grader with this quiz. If you pass, maybe you too should tweet out some ideas to Elon or make a commercial. Maybe you should get a fifth-grade girl to help, too.
