Mercedes-Benz’s rush of spring teasers now includes a photo and video to prime the PR pump for its upcoming AMG CLA35, a warmer version of the redesigned 2020 CLA-Class fastback sedan. It’s set to debut this month at the 2019 New York International Auto Show.
No other information was provided, though the Mercedes Facebook page includes a video with more angles, as well as the photo. We expect this version to get the same powertrain as the A35 version of the related A-Class notchback sedan. That includes a 302-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. That compares with a 221-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter in the standard CLA.
That’s a warmer CLA, but not as hot as the expected AMG CLA45 version, which has been seen in the wild with light camouflage. It is expected to have a more powerful 2.0-liter with about 400 hp.
We’ll have our full team of automotive journalists on site at the 2019 New York International Auto Show April 17-18 bringing you all the action straight from the show floor, so be sure to check back in with us often next week.
