I bought my certified used 2017 Toyota Tundra from

I bought my certified used 2017 Toyota Tundra from Anderson Toyota of Asheville on 2/1/22 with 27k miles on it. The truck was purchased with a lift as a Toyota Certified Pre-owned, as per all of our paperwork. Toyota has a “buy back guarantee” on their Certified Pre-owned vehicles. We also purchased an 8 year 125k mile warranty that is only available for Certified Pre-owned vehicles. On 5/24/23 with 40k miles we needed to use that warranty to fix a bearing and housing issue in the front end. We were surprised to learn that the truck should have never been certified due to the lift(which was already on the truck when we bought it) and our claim was denied. Fred Anderson Toyota proceeded to decertify the truck without permission and downgraded the warranty to 6 years 72k miles after they were told that we needed to review the change and would get back to them. We opened a case with Toyota Corporate on July 11th 2023 and they state that the truck was never certified on their end. Fred Anderson Toyota offered $600 compensation on the difference of the warranty(which we declined and did not give authorization to proceed with the change, as we were still in talks with Toyota Corporate). The truck now has 42k miles on it and is back in service to replace the same bearing, housing and now an axel after 2,400 miles since the first repair. Fred Anderson has now offered trade in on the truck that now has a service record and is also no longer Certified Pre-owned(this offer has also been declined). Let’s do the right thing now and give me the option I should have had, before you wrongly decertified my vehicle and buy it back under the “buy back guarantee” attached to Toyota Certified Vehicles (since that’s what I purchased). I would have never purchased this lifted truck had it not been for the certification. They have misrepresented my vehicle, falsified and backdated documents, and attempted to mislead me into “solutions” that only benefit Fred Anderson Toyota of Asheville.

Scam artist - they are averaging 10k+ in mark ups.

Scam artist - they are averaging 10k+ in mark ups. Don't EVER buy from these guys. Locals go to Tennessee or South Carolina to get a real Toyota dealer that is not going to ruin the value of your car.

Consumer response

How can you say that when you publicly have mark ups on your vehicles, right now? Why are you lying when anyone can go to your own website? Y’all don’t deserve to hold a business license in the State of North Carolina.

We have 2 Toyota hybrids and have always had them

We have 2 Toyota hybrids and have always had them serviced at Toyota of Asheville. On 6/26/23, we made appointments for both cars to have an oil change and tire rotations. The appointments were for 1:00 and 1:15. At 2:00, neither car had been taken into a bay. The first one was finished at approximately 2:30. When I got home, I noticed that I had not received the video of the inspection. My husband finally went to the service desk at 3:00 to ask when his car might be ready. His service adviser didn't answer him, so the adviser sitting next to him finished the paperwork and checked him out. Nothing was said about recommendations for any further work. He did receive a video about the inspection. It showed that both the engine air filter and the cabin air filter were dirty and needed to be replaced. No one at Anderson shared that information with him and they put both dirty filters back in the car! I called a service manager, who was very polite and helpful. He apologized and said we could bring my husband's car back, purchase both filters, and they would replace them without additional labor charge. Their charge for the filters was much higher than we could buy them elsewhere, so that is what we did and my husband replaced them himself without having to drive back to Anderson and wait another 2 hrs. We were used to the customer service at Jim Barkley and will never go back to Anderson for either service or purchase of another vehicle. It is not that much farther to go to Easler in Hendersonville.

I just purchased a new 2023 Tacoma Sport today. Richie Kowolski was my salesman and he was excellent at helping me with my purchase. He was knowledgeable and very courteous and didnt mind going the extra mile for me answering my questions and helping the buy go very smoothly. I am very happy with my new truck and working with Richie was a great experience. I highly recommend him to help you with your new vehicle purchase. Four stars!!

Their cars do not come with keys

We just purchased a used 2018 Ford expedition from Fred Anderson Toyota Asheville. After the papers were signed on the vehicle the salesperson handed us a key and said "sorry we only have one key for this vehicle". They told us we would have to buy a second key from a locksmith at our own cost. I was willing to do that but when I took the car and key to the locksmith he opened the key fob and found there was no actual cut valet key in it. When I contacted the dealership They said they would cover the cost for me to have one made. When I took it to the Ford dealership they said that is not even the original type of key that comes with the SUV. It was for an older model Ford car. They were not even willing to pay for two key fobs after I spent $40,000 on a car from there. It is still going to cost me over $300 to get a second key for my car. Will not be shopping there again.

Shelby, the salesperson in used cars was a pleasure to work with. W Todd Stamey, the finance guy was a different thing. I was hesitant to buy an extended warranty and he was very persistent to know why. I just felt like I was getting fast talked. I had 2 questions... can the car get worked on here and is the convertible covered. Yes to both. But after 2 days of vacation time from work and $200 diagnostics from the infiniti dealer in SC, the correct answer would have been some things can be worked on here and no part of the convertible is covered by the warranty. Should have listened to my gut.
