I had been searching for a grand cherokee for my daughter for almost 2 months. I recently found a 2003 grand cherokee on cars.com at performance that I was interested in. I went down to their location to find out they actually had more than 10 grand cherokees that were the years I wanted. although I didnt purchase the jeep I went their to see, I did purchase a 2002 with less miles and am very happy with it. Karl is the person who sold me the car and got me a loan at a very fair rate. I would recommend to my friends to go see their cars.

Good experience
Plenty of cars to choose from. It was hard to narrow down the selection. Carl really was great. Low pressure made me feel comfortable. I was done in a few hours with my Jeep.

Great Experience!!!
I recently bought a pre owned ford focus and could not be happier. I had a issue with the check engine light coming on, I called spoke with my sales woman and she told me to bring it in. They addressed the problem and I was on my way. I was very happy with how my problem was handled. My sales woman Kate was very honest and helpful. I gladly recommend Performance Auto.

Happy I found performance auto
I am glad i stopped at performance auto in bohemia. the dealership is not your usual lights and banners everywhere but they had such a big selection of cars that it was hard to narrow it down. i went there twice, once with my wife to find a car for my daughter and we dealt with kate, she was very helpful and showed me 4 cars. Then a second time with my daughter to narrow it down to a ford explorer. the second time we met karl because it was kates day off and we purchased the explorer. We are very happy with our 2003 explorer and would recommend this store to our friends.

Run for your life
Bought a car from performance auto in Bohemia about 7 or 8 months ago. The car is garbage from start to finish. sales lady was nice, but the car has had nothing but issue after issue the entire time. I've spent $$$ on everything from starters, batteries, alternators, water pump, spark plugs, fuel filters, cat, hoses, gasket, etc. Lemon law doesn't apply cause it has 100k miles. It was fine during test drive and she said it had no problems of any kind. I'm a sucker. Their mechanics made the car even worse. I swear. They deny everything too. I've calculated that with the money i've spent so far, I could've leased a new Mercedes S class. No joke. Run fast.

Our Experience
Like so many people on the island, my husband and I were finally picking up the pieces after Sandy... it was time to replace our car. We went to Performance Auto in Bohemia and dealt with Kate. She seemed so honest and non-pushy in every way (she was more motherly than a car salesman). She assured us the car was solid, had no mechanical issues whatsoever and would need nothing for at least 3,000 miles. She felt safe with us driving this one. Everything was so quick and easy... until we brought the car home. Within 48 hours, the check engine light came on. The car wasn't starting properly and drove rough. We were told there was nothing to worry about, they'll "take care of it." They didn't. Within another 48 hours, the light came back on and it was driving poorly still. We dropped it off again and were told "of course we'll fix it." We brought it home and the light came back for the 3rd time. So, we brought it to our mechanic who basically said "whoever tried reparing the EGR blockage is an idiot," but suggested we take it the dealer due to Lemon Law. Kate once again assured us it would be fixed: "I'll be there to insure this will be solved once and for all!" Guess what? After they had it for 2 more days, the light came on and the car drove even worse. This time, my husband and I dropped it off and threatened an attorney. Now, after the 4th time in 3 weeks, the car is the same. ***Each time, we politely asked for written documentation showing the issues and actual work that was done to the car. They say "ok" and conveniently forget to provide this information every single time! We know what they are doing- they're avoiding responsibily by giving us the run-around until Lemon Law expires next week. Everyone has had bad experiences with dealers, but this has been an absolute nightmare for us. The mechanics are incompetent at best. The owner and Kate are deceiving us... and now we're stuck talking to lawyers while trying to fix the car. We're decent people- it takes a lot to rattle us. This has been the absolute worst experience we've ever had buying a car and they have no conscience about what they're doing. PLEASE go to a real dealer, so you can avoid the grief these people are needlessly causing us.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS NON-CONSUMER FRIENDLY USED CAR
I would stay away from this non consumer friendly used car lot. Yes, it was very easy to buy from them. That's when your treated well. After that, forget it. When I test drove the car, I told the salesman that the AC was not putting out any cold air. "No problem! I'll top it off". From the day I took posession, the AC was poor. I called and mentioned it and the answer I got was that it was probably do to the hot streek we had. I went and put two cans of AC stuff in myself and the air was freezing. One week later the fuel pump died. Ok, no one's fault. I was broken down on the side of a highway and called in. They said the part was covered, but in their shop. They said I had to get the car there when I live in Seaford. I said, "I'm broken down on the highway and my regular repair shop is 5 minutes away. Can't I have them tow me there instead of all the way out to exit 61? Do you have a loner car so I can get home?" "No loners. We're not like a large shop" The saleman finally said OK, but they would only pay me what their cost was in their shop to fix the item. I had the work done and the retail bill was $699.35. They only charged me $490.00 the wholesale ( to dealers) price. I sent the bills in for towing, the repairs, and the rental car I had to get for two days ( because this covered part failed within the warranty period ). They refused to pay the towing ( which most reputable dealers do when you buy their car and it has a problem and you have to be towed ),refused to pay the car rental ( OK, I felt the towing should have been paid ), and I had to wait a month ( after calling in once a week and being told it was being sent ) to receive only $300.00 of the $490.00. As far as car preparation, not only was the AC no good, but the belts are loose, the breaks are down ( took the car in for a recal and was told by the Ford dealer that the breas were down ), and there is a leak in the exhaust system. If they preped the car, then their mechanics are really poor mechanics. I asked for the name of the owner numerous times and they refused to give it to me. I can understand why. When the owner doesn't want his name known to customres, that's a red flag. Sorry I bought the car there. Your better off buying a car from someone you trust or a referral. I would stay away from these people.
