BUYER BEWARE – My recent online buying experience at
BUYER BEWARE – My recent online buying experience at Serpentini of Strongsville was anything but stellar to say the least. I've been buying new and used cars off and on for about 40 years since I was first legal to drive, I even worked at a Ford dealership for several years. I've financed through banks, credit unions, large dealership and small. As most people expect, car buying can often be a hectic experience filled with negotiations, sales pitches, anxiety and hidden traps. Buying online from out of state can be even more nerve-racking since you aren't able to see and test drive the vehicle in person. Most dealerships and sales people have different protocols in place for this shift in the market. CONS — • They FORCE YOU to finance with them with a HIDDEN CLAUSE (*must finance with dealer), even if your bank is ready to send them a certified check or wire for the entire sales amount. They say this is because it's an internet special and that they've been burned before working with banks out of state. Complete xx !! It's because they get a kick-back from GM Financing and then they will try to hose you on the interest rate just to make a buck. If the Volvo I was buying wasn't a great car, I would have walked away a long time ago. So I played along, but my bank bought out the contract immediately so GM Financing might have made a few days of interest off me, while my credit score had to endure another hard inquiry for absolutely no reason. • They will try to hose you on Interest rate, current market lowest APR is 6.5% on used cars, which I was pre-approved for with my bank, GM Financing offered 10.9% APR, what a joke. APR can be negotiated based on credit worthiness, I've always received the lowest available rate. • No video walk around for buying out of state. • Did not disclose actual condition of vehicle. Dealership provided several photos online, but everyone knows online photos don't always show a lot of detail. Turns out there was a severe key scratch that ran the entire length of the car on the passenger side that the sales person didn't even mention. Hard to miss, my transport service took much more detailed photos before pickup and after and showed the scratch at Serpentini's lot. This should have been an automatic discount on the sales price as it's going to cost me to repair, if I were on the lot in person there's no way I would have accepted that. • Very little communication, sales person Johnny W would not respond or reply to simple questions via email or text, said he was new and too busy. Sure, only takes a few seconds to say yes or no. • Serpentini's "Specialized Internet" sales division doesn't mean anything and might be worse than just dealing with regular sales. • No assistance or recommendations with arranging transport. • Don't value the customer, or at least not online or if you're buying out of state, feel taken advantage of for buying out of state. • Dropped the ball, had a week to transfer final funds and waited to the last day just before transport pickup. Funny how they accepted the funds this way, even though they said they couldn't in the beginning on the entire sale because it's unreliable. Only takes a minute to wire funds, or verify if a bank is legitimate or not. • Serpentini says they build customers for life – they surely don't try very hard and definitely lost this one. PROS — • Large Chevy dealership with deep pockets and used vehicle standards. • CARFAX report. • Used car inventory. At the end of the day I'm just looking for a fair and honest deal where everyone walks away happy. Unfortunately the world of car sales hasn't changed much over the decades, just more online buying leveling the playing field, but the usual shifty cons and sales pitches are fully alive and well at Serpentini of Strongsville, Ohio.

Terrible customer service and an even worse service
Terrible customer service and an even worse service department. Back in 2023, I made the switch from RAM to Chevy and purchased a brand-new truck from Serpentini Chevrolet. I was initially very happy with the vehicle, and the sales team treated me well—until the check cleared. After that, good luck getting anyone to return a call or follow up. Reaching someone who can actually help feels like playing the lottery. My truck has had multiple issues since purchase: -Ongoing power surges that happen randomly—“Cannot duplicate the issue” was the only response. -The rear window leaks when it rains, and still no resolution—black mold is now forming. -The factory exhaust system was faulty and rattled. It took repeated requests and finally showing up unannounced to get someone to take it seriously. -Clear coat is peeling in one spot, and despite the GM Corrosion Warranty, they refused to fix it. To get the exhaust fixed, I practically had to beg a service advisor and technician to ride with me just to confirm the issue. They eventually agreed to order the part, which took about a week—fine. But two weeks later, still no call. When I followed up, I was told my service advisor no longer worked there and no one knew whose exhaust it was. Great communication and accountability. They also refuse to provide loaner vehicles—despite this being a new truck with unresolved issues. To top it off, I contacted the GM customer care line, and while the rep has been helpful, the dealership hasn’t even responded to her either. At this point, I’ve spoken with a family attorney and am looking into other actions. Sadly, Serpentini Chevrolet has become a textbook buyer beware situation.

I was quoted $230.
I was quoted $230.00 before the work was done. I figured approximately $248.40 with tax. After the work was done, I was charged $273. I asked Will why? He said due to the materials used by the mechanics to do the work. That is shady business at best!! I am NOT pleased. That 2024 Trax is NOT my first new car.
