I purchased a used 2016 Toyota Corolla LE from Sandy Sansing Chevrolet on December 16, 2025, for about $9,000 out the door. What seemed like a great deal at first quickly turned into an incredibly frustrating and expensive experience. The vehicle was sold as-is, which I understood. However, it was presented as road-safe, had supposedly passed their inspection, and no major mechanical problems were disclosed. I even had an independent pre-purchase inspection done, and that inspection did not identify any transmission issues. Within a day of buying the car, it started having serious problems shifting into and out of gear. Less than a week after the purchase, a mechanic diagnosed it with internal transmission failure that required a full replacement. I had just spent around $9,000 on the car, and suddenly I was facing more than $4,000 for a new transmission. What really changed my opinion of Sandy Sansing was the way they handled the situation afterward. I called multiple times, left messages for management, and got little to no response. I eventually had to go to the dealership in person just to get someone to actually address the issue. Their solution was basically to offer to replace the transmission themselves at a slightly discounted price. In other words, after the car they had just sold me suffered a major failure within days, I was still expected to give them thousands of dollars more to fix it. I ultimately paid over $4,000 out of pocket to have the transmission replaced somewhere else. As a college student, that was a huge unexpected expense. I also missed work dealing with a vehicle I had owned for less than a week. I fully understand what AS-IS means, and I understand that used cars can have problems. What I do not understand is selling someone a vehicle that suffers a major transmission failure almost immediately, then showing so little concern or willingness to help when they return with a documented diagnosis. I deeply regret buying this vehicle from Sandy Sansing Chevrolet. Based on my experience, I would never purchase another vehicle from this dealership, and I would not recommend them to anyone shopping for a used car.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand how frustrating it can be to encounter a significant mechanical issue shortly after purchasing a used vehicle. As you acknowledged, the Corolla was sold as-is, with the applicable terms disclosed in the purchase documents and Buyer’s Guide. The vehicle also underwent the dealership’s inspection process prior to sale, and you obtained an independent inspection that did not identify a transmission concern. Unfortunately, inspections cannot predict every future mechanical failure, and a transmission can fail without warning. We appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best moving forward.

These guys sold me a defective vehicle and when I drove it off the lot and it started overheating and I took it back. Immediately. They would not take it because they said it was a used car and then that’s just the way it is that there was nothing that I could do . after taking it to a reputable mechanic I found out that they had put fluid into the engine to conceal a blown head gasket, which is unlawful by the ethical practice laws in sales of Florida I wouldn’t go near these people if I were you, they will rip you off. They are an ethical and the epitome of a sleazy car salesman.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand how frustrating it is to experience a mechanical issue shortly after purchasing a used vehicle. We do not agree with the allegation that the vehicle was intentionally altered or that a mechanical issue was knowingly concealed prior to sale. The vehicle was sold as a used vehicle under the terms outlined in the purchase documents and Buyer’s Guide. We appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best moving forward.

Catherine McMillan made buying a new car the best experience I have ever had working with car salesman. She was extremely knowledgeable, easy to work with and gives you the sense that she is there for the consumer. If we ever look to purchase another car we will definitely look for her.

I have purchased vehicles before and understand that buying a used vehicle, especially one sold "as-is," comes with some risk. My disappointment with Sandy Sansing Chevrolet is not simply that the vehicle needed repairs. It is the overall buying experience, the lack of transparency, and how my concerns were handled after the sale. I had been searching for a Ford Expedition for several months. Earlier that day, I worked with my salesperson, TJ, to complete as much of the process remotely as possible because I did not want to spend an entire day at the dealership. We discussed a 2017 Expedition, ran financing numbers, and I made the trip to the dealership believing that vehicle was available. When I arrived around 5:00 p.m., I was told it had actually been sold several days earlier. That was extremely frustrating because I had spent much of the day preparing to purchase it. Since I had previously done business with Sandy Sansing, I decided to give them another opportunity instead of leaving. I looked at another Expedition from within their dealer network before deciding on a 2018 Ford Expedition Max Platinum that had been transferred from another Sandy Sansing dealership. By then it was late, the dealership was close to closing, and I felt pressured to complete the purchase that night rather than return the next day. I requested the Carfax but was never given a printed copy or enough time to review it myself. It was quickly scrolled through on a computer while I was told the vehicle had only two minor accidents. My test drive was also limited because the Expedition had only about two miles of fuel remaining. The dealership's inspection report stated, "Has multiple minor oil leaks, wet but not dripping yet." I was simply told it had a few minor oil leaks, and no one explained where the leaks were or whether they could require a major repair. Within days of purchasing the vehicle, I experienced a low oil pressure warning that appeared intermittently. I took the Expedition to Firestone for an independent inspection, and they identified the leak as coming from the timing cover area with an estimated repair cost of approximately $3,000. When I contacted TJ about the issues, I expected to be directed back to the dealership's service department. Instead, I was repeatedly told to contact a mechanic he knew by the nickname "Sheriff." That was surprising to me because I believed the dealership should have been the first place to address concerns discovered immediately after the sale. There were several additional issues I discovered after taking ownership. The rear window washer does not work. The driver-side rear defroster connection is detached. The running boards intermittently fail to retract. The air conditioning was later acknowledged by the salesperson as not cooling well when he picked up the vehicle, and he suggested someone could simply add refrigerant. I also noticed the brake pedal feels unusually soft or spongy even though the dealership inspection indicates the brakes and rotors had been serviced before the sale. I also had concerns during the finance process. While I was reviewing the electronic paperwork, I felt the documents were submitted before I had finished reading everything. That left me uncomfortable because I wanted the opportunity to carefully review every document before it was finalized. There were also administrative issues after the sale. I was told I could not reuse my Florida license plate because it was more than ten years old, but the DMV later informed me it was still valid. I still have not received my Arizona plate back from my trade-in, and I have continued receiving payment reminders from my previous lender while waiting for confirmation that the trade-in loan has been paid off. I understand that no dealership can guarantee a used vehicle will be perfect. However, I believe customers deserve accurate information, enough time to inspect a vehicle and review paperwork, and responsive customer
