I drive from Hammond to Ponchatoula (it?

I drive from Hammond to Ponchatoula (it?s only a 3 mile drive for me) because instead of taking my truck to my local ?big? dealer - I?d rather spend a few extra minutes driving to the Hometown style Ford dealership in Ponchatoula because they take better care of my needs than the larger dealers do!

The service department managed to fit me in when my

The service department managed to fit me in when my brakes failed that morning, and I really appreciated the shuttle service. They were able to get in the parts and make the repairs that same day.

Service was very very good.

Service was very very good. The persons handling my claim was very professional and answered any and all questions that I asked and explained the process that was needed to get the truck repaired thru the company that sold the extended maintenance agreement.

My truck started having these dash lights (service

My truck started having these dash lights (service advance trac, hill start assist, hill descent) come on driving on the interstate mostly and will turn off after a restart. I called the local dealership (Gateway Ford) and scheduled an appointment for a week out, I brought my truck in the day before the appointment so they could see that the lights were on. I told them I recently had my pitman arm and tie rod replaced at a local shop and my steering wheel was off center some after the replacement and I think that could be the problem if they could check it out. Two days went bye, and I finally called them and at 3 pm that day they finally looked at my truck. They called back and said it was a steering control module, and if that doesn?t fix it, they would need to replace the air bag restraint module. I thought it was odd for the air bag to be related to the problem. The part was $350 and an hour or so for labor and the part would be in a couple days. They received the part, took the steering wheel apart and noticed they had the wrong part and the new part and price to fix would be ~$2100 to fix. I told them I wanted the steering control module part number and said if I see another dealer selling it for less and that I would want them to order it from them. There was another Ford dealer selling the part for $500 less after some back and forth, they sold me the part for $500 less and the final bill would be ~$1400. That took a couple of days for that part to come in. Meanwhile, I had no vehicle. Also, they wanted to do some recall work on my rear view camera and reprogram the PCM module, so I said sure knowing they get paid to do this. After two weeks of having my vehicle, I called to see if it was ready. They told me they replaced the steering column but couldn?t get the camera to work. I told them to just put the old camera back in and I was coming to get the vehicle. I showed up and they said the camera didn?t work and hadn?t even touched it. I told them I would wait for them to put the old camera back in or I wanted a loaner, and they could keep the truck. So, they gave me a loaner because it was a warranty issue. After a week and me calling a lot, they finally figured out they had the wrong wire installed for the camera. So, I went to get the truck, paid the $1400 and assumed they drove the truck to make sure the originally item was fixed. I got on the interstate and within a few miles the lights came on. I called and told them I would be back tomorrow to drop the truck off because it wasn?t fixed. I also sent them photos where I talked to someone online who had the same issue and the pitman arm nut needed to be tighten and steering wheel centered (maybe they would believe me this time). I went back and they put me back in the loaner. A few days went by and I heard nothing from them so I called them and they said they hadn?t gotten to it yet. After two weeks of calling and them diagnosing, it and me telling them about the pitman arm and tie rod again. They decided the pitman arm nut needed to be tightened and steering wheel centered. They told me they would have to charge me to do it and that after it was done they may need to reprogram the steering control module. I went and picked up the truck and brought it back to the local shop. They tightened the nut and centered the steering wheel and just like that no more issues. I asked them to refund me ~$1400 and was told that was what the codes were showing what the issue was. To no avail, I didn?t get any money back.
