Alright, so the service this dealership offers is absolutely unbelievable. From the sales manager, Lance, on down. I’m a small business owner myself, so knowing that customer service means is absolutely everything, I can say without hesitation, that Volvo Cars Carlsbad has been the best car buying experience my wife and I have ever had. Not only did they make the sales process easy and hassle-free, they explained everything to us thoroughly and worked HARD to accommodate our budget and very specific needs. I was shocked that Volvo Financial was able to beat our local credit union’s APR. The financing process was handled smoother and faster than anything I’ve experienced in past with dealerships. Thats a testament to these guys being absolute pros, knowing the system they’re working within, and the contracts they execute. Not only was it a quick experience, but they thoroughly explained every step along the way. We never, even slightly felt like we were being “sold.” The cherry on top of the cake was that they made not one, but two trips to our home when we left things at the dealership. We live in Escondido, so that’s a long trip across the 78 in rush hour traffic. Olin, our sales rep, even showed up with my 4 year old daughter’s favorite stuffy buckled in to the front seat when she left it at the dealership. To this day, she says to me “daddy, do you remember that nice man who sold you your car?” Yep, that means a lot to her and to me. Look, I may have gone into way too much detail with this review, but my experience was truly extraordinary with Volvo Carlsbad. It’s why we went from a Lexus and a Mercedes household to a 2 Volvo household in two weeks time. If you’re looking to buy a Volvo in San Diego or Orange counties, make the trip out to Volvo Carlsbad, you will not be disappointed.

Unsafe service of vehicle
Very poor quality service department. I had my Volvo serviced there which included a brake fluid replacement. The fluid leaked out in 5 days due to the bleeder valve not being tightened. The warning light was on. The fixed it but did not discount anything or reimburse me for the brake fluid I had to buy to drive it to the dealer. The service manager “Allen” said that he would still drive the car with the warning light on. Not a very safe service department.

Thanks for visiting us at Volvo Cars Carlsbad! We appreciate your positive feedback, Silvia!
Michael Page
Michael Page is the worst. We were trying to buy a car from him and he sold it to someone else. Looks like it was a blessing we didn’t buy one from him based on other reviews. Stay away people!

Ethics of sleaze bag used car salesman
Business not registered with Carlsbad Better Business Bureau or Chamber of Commerce--for good reason. They're crooks. Operates under incorporation of Glendora Motorcars--a used car lot. They do not honor warranties on repairs. Instead they will tell you it is something else, collect money for that new repair, and when that fails, they will tell you it is something else. DO NOT BUY A USED CAR: They claim to run cars through service dept. but I would not trust. I bought a used S60 which would not start 2 months later. The battery was 3 months beyond expiration date. Repairs on another Volvo always resulted in new but different problems afterward. When I complained repairs were under warranty owner--Mohinder Singh--said, "No one forced you to bring your car to us." --The warranty policy and expectation that dealer would honor that warranty is all that "forced" me to return the car for correction. High turnover rate among employees. Owner said to "be so cheap he scrapes copper off pennies." Once they have your money you are sunk. Don't pay service bill with credit card because you cannot cancel if work defective. I paid a $1500 bill with a credit card, and the car stopped on the way home. Had to be towed back to dealer. Had I paid with check I could have cancelled. Instead, CV kept my money and strung me along for more repairs, and when I figured out the scam, I was SOL. Volvo's are no longer Swedish. Company now under Chinese ownership. If you want reliability, go buy a Mercedes or Honda...anything but Volvo.

$750 Charge to Service a Car Just Purchased
Looking back, the handling of this purchase from day 1 has been highly questionable. Starting with the total misrepresentation of rates and repayments figures, which were grossly under quoted to progress the sale. The only concern from their side was to get the sale done and they would say anything to achieve that. After leaving the dealership we were called back in saying we had an agreement and that they could make the offer we wanted work. On arrival back at the dealership, commencing the signing of the paperwork, it became apparent that the deal didn’t exist and the rate they quoted wasn’t realistic. We experienced so many awkward situations where we received contradicting information from the sales person and the sales manager, all together in one office. The final decision lies with us on purchase and that I take responsibility for, as we really wanted the car. Notwithstanding, that does not excuse the level of incompetence and the run-around we had to go through to achieve it. If that had been the end of it, I could have stomached the transaction and the blatant sleaziness of it all… In the two and a half months that we have had he car, we have had to return the car twice to get faults looked at and it has been in the service shop for over a week. (BTW I have nothing against the level of service received from the service team – they have actually provided a stellar service). The bottom line is that basic checks weren’t done to ensure the vehicle was in sale-able condition prior to releasing the car. Some examples include: two of three keys given to us didn’t function; the driver side door panels were loose with the speakers vibrating on very low-level volume (this had to go back twice to be looked at but is now repaired). Various electrical and system elements as well at the navigation were malfunctioning. More frustratingly, the gas tank would continually shut off. Where we stand now is the vehicle needs to go in again as more things continue to come up - remote start doesn’t work through Volvo On Call, collision warning lights have a VERY delayed reaction; not much good in preventing an accident and making Volvo the safest car on the road, personalized settings not registering and the ‘no-seatbelt’ warning lights activating only intermittently. All non-life-threatening, but these are the things you are paying for in a VOLVO XC90 T8 Inscription. With rain over the past week, it has also come to light that the windscreen wiper blades are worn. Something that I’m happy to sort myself but summing it all up, that none of his was looked at before they sold us the car is just plain sloppy. The icing on the cake, after having the car merely 2.5 months and barely driven 2,000 miles, the 40K factory maintenance light comes on. Its time for service and Volvo Carlsbad wants to charge us $750 for the convenience. Never have I heard of buying a certified car direct from a dealership and immediately after walking off the floor, being hit with a $750 check up. Why would I want to pay for things that surely must have just been looked at and fine-tuned just before they sold it to us? If they had any interest in the customer journey, after-sales service and satisfaction, repeat business or the supposedly good name of VOLVO, this would have been dealt with. At the very least most of the service components would have already been covered and they could do a small complimentary tune up. After all they have had the car twice and need to have it again to fix further problems. What could possibly cost $750 on a certified car that has literally just driven out the lot? I have tried to take this up with the owner and general manager of Carlsbad VOLVO over the past week and although he has promised to call me straight back, he just never did personally. A colleague finally returned my call and offered to take $100 off the service. This is simply not good enough.
