This experience was eye opening.
This experience was eye opening. I am 7 months pregnant with our second child and my husband and I decided it was time to get a car that was newer and safer. We contacted the dealership with a few initial questions. Our salesperson, Scott, was very helpful and responded with all of our questions answered. We scheduled a time to come look at the car and told him everything we were looking for. He went across the street where they park their excess inventory for us to test drive. Everything was great! We decided to buy the car which was a brand new 2023 Sorento Hybrid plug-in to save some money since it was February 17, 2024. Unfortunately, this is where everything went down hill. We stupidly purchased the vehicle at night which we did not know is a huge NO NO! We had been there since 11 and after everything was said and done it was a little after 19:00. We were so excited about purchasing our first brand new car ever. Not just that it was new, but as parents we felt so accomplished to be able to provide a safe and reliable car for our girls. As I was driving the car home that night, I had to use the windshield wipers because the storm had just passed and noticed the spots were not moving. Just thought it was the water kicking up from the streets. However, Sunday morning comes around and we notice there is this hard, thin, clear, sticky residue all over the car. Keep in mind, this is a plug-in and has only been parked in the garage. Not only is this residue on the outside of the car, but in the handles, inside the door frames, and even inside the electric outlet. Or neighbor said it looked like a paint defect which freaked us out as we are currently leasing the vehicle. The dealer is closed on Sunday, so I took it in Monday for them to fix the issue. They took pictures and I talked to a sales manager who kept saying it was tree sap. He told me before these cars hit Colorado, they are in Washington which has a lot of trees and the sap could have come from that. Ok I thought that was an interesting answer, but sure, let's just get it taken care of. They ask if we can come in Wednesday for the service manager to take a look. Sure, I'll take more time off work to get this straightened out. A whole different tune was being played. All of a sudden they are asking if we have a tree out front and that the picture they took does not show all the spots or anything like that. Yes it probably wouldn't considering the picture was taken at night with reflected lights and is pixelated. We could barely capture it on our cameras up close. Further, the service manager tells me not to take it to a car wash with any bristles or brushes because their black paint will get ruined in one go.... and I am just remembering the salesperson telling me they only have 2 of the cars we are looking for, one in black and the other in red. Both same year and everything, but the black is cheaper. He couldn't say why, but now it makes sense. I told my husband how they were turning everything around on us and how helpless I felt. He took the car in on Saturday as we were suppose to be contacted by Friday to discuss the issue which we never received a call. They basically told him the service manager is out but will call us Tuesday and my husband reiterated his concerns of the liability falling on us and they said they understood. Well it is Tuesday and I was sure we were not going to get a call, so I called the service manager and he didn't even know our remember who I was or what my problem was. That just says nobody was talking or trying to figure out a solution and just wanted to sweep us under the rug. He said he would talk to the GM, but doubts he will do anything about it since it wasn't on the pictures. Not to mention there are stickers all over the car, so it definitely wasn't detailed. Plus our car that does sit on the driveway has no "tree sap". They may have changed their logo, but they are anything but luxury service. Expensive regret.
