We bought a 2018 Volvo S90 (used with 12k miles) from this dealer on October 2018. When we bought the car we quickly learned the drivers side speaker was... blown, a piece was missing from the seatbelt and GPS was not working. By December 2018 we learned that the brake pads and rotors were bad and there was trouble with the engine. Thankfully, everything was under warranty because we purchased the certification. If they truly inspected their cars they would have been able to fix all of these problems before they go off the lot. Clearly, THEY DO NOT TAKE THE TIME TO DO SO. Buyers BEWARE. There’s a reason why their prices may be lower than other dealers. They do not care about their customers and the quality of the cars they are selling, which is also a reason why they push you to buy the $2500 certification. Maybe it makes them sleep easier at night knowing you will be covered when the vehicle’s problems are discovered. Best of luck!
Jennifer,, Thanks for taking the time to share your concerns with us. I have looked back and reviewed the Certified inspection and it shows your brak...es inspected closer to new than unsafe. We certainly did miss the trim piece and we apologize for that, we did send you the part as soon as we were notified we missed it and again we apologize. Getting back to your brake complaint, it is almost comical that you think a company in business for 60 years, with a wonderful reputation would sell a car with 12k mile and bad brakes. That would simply never happen!!! The other part is how would be able to plan to have the brakes fail months later, that simply doesn't make any sense and anyone reading it would agree. We bought a used 2005 Volvo XC90. Kevin helped us and kept repeating "no one else will be honest and tell you what's going on with the vehicle" and he... told us the park assist didn't work and the DVD screens didn't work. We were okay with that and settled on a lower price. A day or two after we bought it the Volvo wouldn't shift smoothly. Then, the speed sensor in the rear was bad and the acceleration wasn't working. We brought it in to a local repair shop because we couldn't make it to Borton, and they replaced the speed sensor. Less than 3 weeks of owning it, we don't even have plates for it yet, and the transmission goes out, costing us $4000 for a used rebuilt transmission, or $6600 new. There is no way that the dealer didn't know about the transmission because we noticed it wouldn't shake a little and then it wouldn't for a day or two, and then it would, and they had the Volvo long enough that they had to have felt that there was a problem. They knowingly sold us a crap vehicle and then told us "unfortunately, there is nothing we can do for you. We can't give a discount on fixing the transmission either because we send our transmission work out. I have empathy for you though." They are not trustworthy. Please save yourself money and stress and buy your vehicle elsewhere.
Hi Alyssa, Thank you for the review. Borton Volvo has been selling New & Used vehicles for over 60 years and has NEVER sold a used car with a known (u...ndisclosed) issue. Your XC90 is 13 years old and is likely to have some issues but I question the need for a $4000 to $6000 transmission on a relatively low mileage Volvo. We would have welcomed the opportunity to inspect either issue and participated in the repair or simply traded you out of a bad car for something better. So now you say "Don't buy from Borton Volvo!" Because you trusted a local repair shop because "you couldn't make it to Borton"? a tow truck or some patience could have saved you thousands. Respectfully, Patrick Sutter, President & General Mgr

Service was performed on schedule and I was kept informed of progress. Staff is very helpful and I like that they wash the car before turning it back... to me.
