True Car sales tactics

Called a couple of times about a vehicle that was advertised on website. spoke to 2 seperate agents, they thought that there was a lot of inquireies on the car so they decided to raise the price as they said they set the price too low. They thought they were going to sell it quick. Agent was insistant that they had numerous prospective buyers(which was me as the 2 agents never spoke to each other) and I should give a deposit to show I was serious about buying the vehicle. Car still there a month later and they dropped the price. very unprofessional and ignorent.

We were just looking for a fun summer car on the internet...

We were just looking for a fun summer car on the internet and ran across the Elite Motors website. I called and spoke to "CRAIG" he was very courteous and professional. It seems like he has been in this business for a long long time. We went for a visit and picked out a SC430 convertable. Long story short, we bought the car and then had an issue with the "GPS" system. I called 'CRAIG" and mind you this is after signing the documents and buying the vehicle in an "AS IS" condition. "CRAIG" told me that he will stand behind my purchase and take care of this issue. A few days later I recieved a call from "CRAIG" and was told that the part for my "GPS" had arrived and to come in and get it installed. Did they have to take care of this issue? NO! But becuase of "CRAIG" this issue which could have cost me a lot of money at "LEXUS" was taken care of. Says a lot about "CRAIG" I will be in the market for a 911 Turbo or and S next year and I shall look up "CRAIG" first before shopping elsewhere :)

Elite specializes in luxury & some sports cars...

Elite specializes in luxury & some sports cars typically with higher mileage 60k+. They stick to their price, but their prices are good to begin with. I test drove a 5 Series BMW and they let me have it checked by my mechanic. It checked clean except for an error that came up on the dash. Elite said they would fix it. I was concerned they would clear a code & give it back to me, but they ended up taking it to another dealer who replaced a module and installed it. James was my sales person and really understands customer service and the dealer stands behind him. In general I'd say you should know what you are buying and have realistic expectations of buying a used car. They do a great job of photographing the car, but if you are not local ask plenty of questions, I wouldn't want any surprises from buying a car I didn't drive. Explain in detail what you are looking for, ask your sales person to test drive it for you but you should have driven the same car for comparison impressions. There are quirks inherent in all cars especially used cars. Know this going in, but I would definitely buy from Elite again.

Unsatisfied

Salesman was accomodating and showed us the cars we were interested in. Some were not available to view, although put up for sale, and most were not "detailed clean." I didn't like the short drive they allow you to go, not really able to "test" the car and kind of pressed for time not to look at the mechanical details. One car was smoking after taking it for a test drive. After deciding on a car to buy, the process was ridiculous, especially having a trade-in. The offer for a trade-in was far lower than what was listed in Kelly Blue book. Even after they printed the Kelly blue book amount, they were offering $2,000 less than "fair" price (trade-in) was at least good condition. We decided not to buy the car after this long ordeal of nonsense.

First half good, second half bad - very quick on the sale...

First half good, second half bad - very quick on the sale but little to no follow up. Very much churn and burn. I bought a supposidly mint Audi S8 that had numerous minor and easily fixable issues: fuse blown, key not programmed, washer check valve shot, etc. The car sat so long on the lot and Craig promised a new battery but someone just jumped the original and it died a week after I took delivery. Emailed him and no response. $150 bucks. One week later Cats started rattling. Woof. Four weeks later the cam adjuster failed - $2K to start. Woof Woof. Mechanic now owns car - true story. My bad ultimately - never buy without mechanic checkout or certified or some warranty.

I bought a car from Elite Motors 2 weeks ago. I work for...

I bought a car from Elite Motors 2 weeks ago. I work for a Chevy dealer, so I am in the “business” my self. Yet, my used car manager could not come even close to the price that Elite Motors gave me. I have simply have stumbled up on previous review (my dealership is on here as well) and merely would like to comment on it, since I can relate to the situation. Folks, when you are buying a USED car, expect getting one, it might miss items like manual, keys etc. If the previous owner has them I always give them to my clients if not then it is per clients request I would be more then happy to order (at customers disbursement),that is in order to keep costs down. Reality check folks: Dealer can replace all items new , no problem, but then who would buy that car at such high cost, it is PRE-driven car after all. People expect to buy the car $3,000 below retail, have all the keys and manual and the car to be PERFECT condition, it happens but don’t expect all the time unless you buy a NEW car for $$$$$ more. And yes my car did not come with all keys either, its ok for me atleast, I think I can spare $300 of thousands I saved.

I recently purchased a pre-owned vehicle from Elite...

I recently purchased a pre-owned vehicle from Elite Motors and found my experience to be extremely unprofessional. I strongly recommend that you look elsewhere for a pre-owned car. My suggestion is to work directly with certified pre-owned manufacturers who stand behind their certification and warranties. Consider yourself warned - dealing with Elite Motors is the same as dealing with a private seller. Here's why - AFTER I had signed all financial paperwork, I was informed by their finance guy that they only had one key to a vehicle that I had just paid 45 thousand dollars for. To purchase an extra key costs $350, but Elite Motors was adament in their position that they would not cover this cost! Their view is that they only recieved one key so that is all they have to give out!! One would think that a car company looking to build customer loyalty and satisfaction would be willing to spend $350, especially after a customer just spend fair market value for one of their used vehicles. What made the situation worse was the unethical way that they proposed that I go about getting an additional key. They said that since the car was only a few years old I should sign up for the manufacturer's annual key coverage insurance. Once I was enrolled, they suggested that I report that I had lost a key in order to get an additional one! It is amazing to me that a car dealership would suggest such a scam. A better and easier solution was the one that proposed - try and reach out to the person who had traded in the car that I was now purchasing to see if they had any of the extra keys laying around (As a new luxury car, the original owner would have received 3 keys). To my knowledge, this was not done, and I never received a follow-up call or e-mail stating that they had tried to contact the previous owner. I had specifically requested that they follow-up with me on this point. Another minor detail that made my experience unpleasant was the poor attention to detail upon picking up the car. As an example, upon entering the car, I noticed old food (potato chips) that was present on the floor between the driver seat and middle console. Bottom line is this dealership does not take any steps to earn your trust and is completely unprofessional from start to finish. After this experience it comes as no surprise to me why used car dealerships have the bad reputation that they do. The service, and manner in which Elite Motors conducts business, strongly suggests that they are completely deserviing of this bad reputation.

Bought a 2005 VW Touareg from this dealer. Flew in from Cincinnati to pick it up. Asked dealer if the auto had all NAV CD's they said yes. It didn't. When I called dealer back to ask if they had them they said no... But I could buy them off eBay. I bought them through the vw dealer. When signing papers for the car they were relentless about buying an aftermarket warranty. I almost walked out! If I hadn't flown there I would have. I have left with a bad taste in my mouth and will never purchase from them again. And I agree with all of the customer service claims. It sucks!

Ok, bottom line is that Elite has the best prices...

Ok, bottom line is that Elite has the best prices anywhere. If you like haggling, do not come here. If you want a straight up best deal anywhere with a no haggle price, this is the place for you. I knew what i wanted and searched all over the US for the best price. They had it here 25 miles away from my house. If you try to haggle, you most likely wont get your way. I didnt, but I knew it was already the lowest price anywhere. And, yes they have admin fees on top of prices. Every dealer has! Whether in IL or not. It's part of buying a car. I am very happy with my purchase. They are however understaffed as far as sales and sometimes it is hard to get ahold of a salesperson, but if you have ever been inside, you'd understand why. The phone rings non-stop. I spent an hour inside the showroom and it was a madhouse. The place is really clean though and their bathrooms are amazing! Oh and they are only open until 7pm, which was a huge problem for me. I am used to spending hours at dealer buying a car, and have stayed much after 9pm to complete a sale. I was in and out in about an hour. They told me that most of their sales come from customers out of state and they dont need to be open late. Maybe if they stayed open a little longer, they would have more local customers??? Go figure Overall, its a great place and you will get the best deal. Dont expect to get the red carpet treatment and follow up phone calls.
