Damaged Cars Only: The Internet Car Lot in Omaha

My wife purchased a car last week from the Internet Car Lot. The driver that delivered the car from Omaha to KC was the first person to point out to us that it had a significant amount of bad rust along the windshield and underneath the car. None of this rust damage had been disclosed to us by the dealer or in any of the paperwork. When I called the Internet Car Lot to discuss this issue with the salesman, Billy Rager, the other salesman, Wyatt Allen refused to let me speak with him, said it was more of a service question. When I asked Wyatt how he would feel if he purchased a car with significant damage that wasn’t disclosed, that came with a A+ Inspection report, he said that he personally would never purchase a car without test driving it first. Wow, that blew me away, even their own salespeople know better to buy a car from the company they represent. After I posted this complaint, someone from their company reached out to me, and offered to allow me to exchange the car with another car on their lot. So I looked through the 200+ cars they have in inventory, and 90% of them are listed with either hail damage or a Branded Title since they have been in a major accident. I asked the general manager, Ryan Cook, if he had any cars that were in good condition. He recommended a 2020 Ford EcoSport that came with a 92 out of 94 rating. I had a friend of mine that manages a Ford dealership run the CarFax report, and sure enough the car they recommended had a major accident 9 months ago. So it is clear as day that every car on their lot has major issues. I left several messages with Ryan Cook to discuss alternative solutions, but he would not return my calls. I would highly recommend that you buy a car anywhere else before considering buying a car from The Internet Car Lot in Omaha or Council Bluff.

After some discrepancies with this car lot - and leaving a bad review. I am updating my review because the service manager John contacted me directly wanting to know why I was dissatisfied. After we talked, the problem was taken care of and we drove away with a car we are super happy with. He worked hard to make us happy. I appreciate that.

They don't stand behind their vehicles

I bought a Cadillac SRX from these guys less than 5 months ago. I had to take it in immediately after because the air conditioning wasn't working they tested it and said it was fine. I had to take it back in because it wasn't fine and they said it needed to be recharged, they charged me $150 for this, no big deal, even though i thought they would cover that since they sold me the car that way. So jump to now, just months later. My engine starts making a loud noise, i take it in to them and they tall me the catalytic converter needs to be replaced, 5 months after they sold me the car. I guess they don't inspect for that. they also inform me my warranty doesn't cover that. So they want to charge me $2000 for that, they said they would drop it to $1400 but come on. You sold me a lemon that had a bad converter on it that your guys clearly didn't catch on inspection, and won't make good on that. The manager told me after 5 months at what point does it become "my" car and not theirs? So he told me to take it somewhere else which I did. Don't buy a car from these guys, unless you want to deal with this shady xxxxxxxx. They don't stand behind the vehicles they sell, Don't buy a car from them!!! Lesson learned on my end, I hope some of you read these reviews and learn a lesson as well.

Scam!

Scam! my husband bought a jeep 2018 and they said everything with the car is good but the car arrived at the house with a damaged air conditioner and it cost us 4000 dollars to repair it. And we tried to communicate with the internet car a lot and never responded. This company is a scam they sell you cars and they said the cars are good conditions and they arrive at your house damaged. 😡

Hi Jennifer we search your last name and do not have a customer that purchased a vehicle under that last name. With that said, all of our vehicles qualify for optional extended nationwide warranties that do cover all of the air conditioning systems. We’ve also never heard of an air conditioning system costing $4000 to replace so you really might want to talk to the shop that did the work for you. We are always here to help and if you need any further assistance, you can contact us directly. Thank you.

you internet car a lot sent us a car with a damaged air conditioning system. that's why you didn't fix it because it cost $4000 and you decided to send it damaged and you told us the car was in perfect condition jason merling bought the 2018 jeep renegade from you. Sergio was our seller

Dealer response

Hi Jennifer, we would never sell a vehicle Norway to pass our mechanics inspection with a nonworking air conditioner. Again, all of the optional extended warranties that were offered to you cover the entire air conditioning system in the event any of the components ever do fail which inevitably will happen in all vehicles. We also have never heard of an ac repair bill anywhere near $4000. Our average AC repair bill is several hundred dollars. Again, we strongly recommend that you talk to the shop that did the work. If you would like our service department to take a look at the prices you were charged as well we are more than happy to do so. Please let us know. Thank you.

Consumer response

the car was not damaged when we used it, the car came home damaged why should we pay for a warranty? and I have the bill from the mechanic who fixed the air conditioning because they replaced the entire system. and my husband wrote a message to the seller informing in the conditions that the car arrived and Sergio never responded. I'm finished with this. Have good day

Dealer response

Hi Jennifer, extended warranties cover the entire drivetrain of the car as well as electrical air-conditioning systems and much more. They are nationwide programs and you only have to pay $100 deductible for occurrence. Again, what you were saying in regards to the entire air-conditioning system replaced something that we have never heard of it does not make any sense there’s some other mechanics have advised us. We strongly recommend that you speak to the shop that charge you this astronomical repair cost. We are more than happy to consult you as well if you need any assistance. Thank you.

Had financing previously arranged, but dealership would not accept that and had me apply for financing through them. Also had to replace all four brakes on the vehicle just over a month of getting it to the tune of $1,039. I’m surprised a dealership would let a vehicle off the lot in this condition.

Hi, we always allow third party financing if you choose to go that route. Many times we can save you more money by getting you a lower interest rate. Over $1,000 for brakes sounds extremely high. You might want to talk to the shop that charged you that much. We have our mechanics verify the brake condition is to acceptable safe depths prior to putting the vehicle for sale. It's possible this shop you took it to sold you brakes preemptively. If you need anything further, please let us know. Thank you.

They claimed to have inspected the car to check the noise

They claimed to have inspected the car to check the noise it was making before we purchased it. Within 3 days, the check engine light came on. Turns out the catalytic converter is broken and needs replaced. I got a warranty, but they have yet to file it with company because apparently this dealer only does this once a month! I don’t think your mechanic is very certified if they can’t determine an engine code error. I also don’t find the dealer very trustworthy, since they claimed they inspected it, found nothing wrong, but yet it needs fixed 3 days later.

Hi Kelly, we confirmed that your warranty is activated and valid. Our mechanics did not find anything wrong with the catalytic converter at the time of inspection. The check engine would have been on at the time of purchase as well which it was not. It is possible you accidentally drove over something on the road as well after purchase. If you need any assistance with using your warranty, please let us know. Thank you.
