I had the most pleasant experience on purchasing my brand new 2026 Equinox. The owner Jim Basil Jr is such a wonderful person to deal with as well as Jacob Hurst who I dealt directly with

My experience with this dealership started out positively. Everyone was friendly and helpful during the sales process. Unfortunately, once the vehicle was purchased, the level of service, concern, and support seemed to go downhill. I purchased my 2024 Chevrolet Trax in 2023, and it now has a little over 53,000 miles. Within the first week of driving it off the lot, the check-engine light came on. At the time, I was told it may have been related to the gas cap. However, since then, I have returned to the dealership several times regarding check-engine lights, ongoing OnStar problems, and other concerns with the vehicle. The OnStar issue was especially frustrating. I was repeatedly sent back and forth between the dealership and OnStar, with each side seeming to suggest that the other was responsible. Before contacting the dealership, I had already worked directly with OnStar and completed all the troubleshooting steps they recommended. OnStar determined that the problem was not on their end and that there was an issue with the vehicle itself. It was only after I escalated the matter to a manager that someone finally took the time to address the concern properly. I sincerely appreciate the individuals who were willing to troubleshoot the problem with me and confirm that I had followed all the necessary steps. In the end, it was determined that there was, in fact, something wrong with the vehicle. This past weekend, the engine completely stopped working, leaving me without transportation. The vehicle broke down on a Sunday, so I had it towed to the dealership on Monday as soon as I could arrange it. This was my first brand-new vehicle, and I never expected a new car to experience this many ongoing problems or to stop running completely. When I brought the vehicle in, the only thing done that day was a computer scan. When I called the following day, a representative explained that no one had looked under the hood and that it could be approximately two weeks before a technician would be able to properly inspect and diagnose the vehicle. In the meantime, I have no idea what is actually wrong with my car or whether the repair may be covered under the powertrain or emissions warranty. My bumper-to-bumper warranty has expired, but the dealership cannot determine whether the current issue is warranty-related until someone actually diagnoses the problem. My vehicle is now sitting on their lot while I am left without answers or transportation. The dealership’s rental vehicles are apparently always on a waiting list, and no loaner vehicle was available. As a result, I am expected to pay for a rental vehicle out of my own pocket while waiting up to two weeks just for someone to look under the hood. I am a single mother living on a fixed income, and this situation has created a serious hardship for my family. I depend on this vehicle to get to work, provide for my children, purchase groceries, and take care of everyday responsibilities. I also have a cat and a dog, and I cannot even easily get to the store to buy the food and supplies they need. Paying out of pocket for a rental vehicle is not a small inconvenience for me. It is an expense that I am struggling to afford while already trying to support my household. Being without transportation is affecting my ability to work and manage the basic needs of my family. What also saddens me is that I often leave the dealership feeling patronized and as though no one truly understands or takes seriously what I am going through. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for clear communication, a timely diagnosis, compassion, and reasonable support for a vehicle that has had problems since shortly after it was purchased. These are not the types of problems anyone expects to face after purchasing their first brand-new vehicle. The dealership was very attentive when it was time to make the sale, but the after-sale service, communication, availability of transportation, and urgency

Joe Basil Chevrolet gave me one of the worst vehicle-buying experiences I've ever had. I purchased a used 2022 Toyota Highlander based on promises that were made during the sales process. During the test drive, the AC was blowing hot air. I pointed it out immediately and was assured it would be completely fixed before delivery. I also pointed out two chips in the windshield and was told those would be repaired as well. Neither promise was kept. The windshield chips were never repaired, and the AC problem was never actually fixed. It appears the system was simply recharged instead of properly diagnosed and repaired. I was also told the vehicle would receive new brakes and rotors all the way around as part of the purchase agreement. Later inspections raised serious questions about whether that work was ever performed because they were not new. When I requested documentation showing what repairs had been completed before the sale, my requests were repeatedly ignored. The vehicle was also delivered with an empty coolant reservoir, which immediately made me question how thoroughly it had been inspected and prepared before delivery. When I raised my concerns, the dealership scheduled an appointment and had me drive an hour there. I waited approximately three hours and then drove an hour home. After spending nearly half a day at the dealership, nothing was fixed and once again I was ignored asking for the paperwork for my records. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Even after escalating the matter, the dealership's position was essentially that the repairs were my responsibility to pay for. The BBB made an improper response claiming it had “been over a year” which it in fact has not been a year nor over a year. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING ANYTHING FROM THIS DEALERSHIP! Never rely on verbal assurances. Based on my experience, once the paperwork is signed, verbal promises will not be honored. YOU WILL BE STUCK WITH THEIR LEMON! 37,000 WASTED!

I found a car I was interested in on cars.com. I communicated back and forth with the staff at Joe Basil Dealership and made plans to visit the dealership and purchase the vehicle. Prior to making the 3 hour round trip drive, I happened to zoom in on the pictures of the vehicle, only to discover that it had clearly been in an accident and not repaired, as the right front corner was smashed and dented and had a shattered light. This damage was not disclosed in the vehicle write up or by the salesperson I was communicating with. Boy was I glad that I discovered this before making the drive out there. When confronted, the salesperson's response was, Oh, sorry, I was looking at the wrong vehicle. This did not create trust or make me want to do business w/this dealership.

Asked John the kid if they would change the radiator fluid on a 12 year old car . he said no, and I would need to pay for it I said why? I said it turns acidic at ten years he's like I never herd that. then it failed emissions and he says he needs to drive it around for a while... lol careful what you buy there as they say they go through them and do the maintenance but that means oil ! and there cars are over priced.
