WATCH OUT FOR LAST MINUTE SURPRISE - we test drove a car we wanted and then told them we were ready to buy at the listed price - CASH deal. FOUR HOURS LATER, just before they were to close at 6pm, the "people upstairs" were ready to close the deal. After handing over the cashier's check, signing all of the required acknowledgements, turning down the extended warranties, paint protector, etc., the final document was a NON-NEGOTIABLE ARBITRATION requirement. We declined signing and she replied "NO SIGN - NO DEAL". Then she said "oh, we won't require you to sign it" as if they had that option anyway. We picked up our check and bailed out. I don't know about you, but springing a major contract term limiting the customer's rights at, quite literally, the last second, should be illegal if it isn't already.

Faulty Cars and Bad Service
This is the 4th Audi I have owned, definitely my last. The performance of the car is basic, but will get you from point A to point B. The primary frustration is that the AudiConnect app never works. It is sold as a great tool to monitor and control your vehicle, however has only worked 1 out of the 6 months I have owned the vehicle. The dealership and Audi have been ineffective at addressing the issue. I spend hours each week waiting on hold, sometimes up to 2.5 hours, to find out if they have resolved the issues. Each week I submit the screenshots with the error codes and the weeks roll by with no follow up from Santa Barbara Auto group or Audi Corporate. The dealership says they have no solution and suggest there is nothing they can or will do. Don’t waste your money with Audi.

Robert S, As we have responded to you on other review sites, this issue is something that neither Audi Corporate or us at the dealership level have a fix for. It spans across many many vehicles and Audi is working on trying to get a fix worked out for the issue. We hope that one can be found soon and you can fully enjoy all that your Audi has to offer.

Our needs were met in an exceptional manner. Our experience was led and closed by Tony Clumeck who is an outstanding manager! Tony made all facets of our purchase seamless. I highly recommend Santa Barbara Auto Group and Tony Clumeck for your auto purchase needs! Our purchase was a 2022 Range Rover Sport, which required an order for the car to be shipped from the U.K., Tony did this without one hiccup! I cannot say enough about the dealership and Tony!

The Best Car Buying Experience You Could Hope For
Excellent team of professional people, focused on you, eager to assist, quick to to discover your needs and targeted to make the entire experience a completely positive one. Jeff Knepp and team were attentive and avoided applying any kind of buying pressure. As a sales management professional myself, I appreciated the relaxed approach and breadth of product line knowledge the entire team demonstrated. If you want the best, this group is it!

New Vehicle Purchase/Lease Surrender
I ordered a new BMW SUV while simultaneously negotiating the surrender of my current lease on my existing sedan. The negotiations were completed in January, 2021 to allow time for the new vehicle to arrive at the dealership from BMW. In April, the day before I was to pick up the new vehicle and surrender the sedan, the dealership renege on the surrender terms. The result, I lost the opportunity to get the SUV, and have been unable to reorder one through another dealer because the time has passed for BMW to accept a custom order on 2021 vehicles. My view - I was treated unfairly, unethically and, despite the dealership's admission that they made an error in the negotiations, I was denied an opportunity to secure the vehicle of my choice. I will never do business with SBAG again.

Hi Steve, We can understand where you're coming from, and we apologize for your experience. We found a few days after your finance experience that you had 11 months remaining on your current lease which was our mistake. However, this meant you had a payoff balance which unfortunately made it so we could not go through with the deal unless you wanted to pay off your current lease. We're sorry for not catching this sooner. Please let us know if you would like to speak with us further about this situation.
Customer service
This dealership has the worst customer service. My husband and I tried several times to deal with them and were met with rude unhelpful service staff. This is the first bad review I’ve ever left anywhere but I’m so frustrated with the lack of care or help from this dealership I felt I needed to worn others.

Hello, we're very disappointed to read about you and your husbands service experience with us at the Santa Barbara Auto Group. We'd like to learn more about your time with us, and we're wondering if you could share with us which dealership you worked with here at the Santa Barbara Auto Group. Could you please send us an email, so we can do everything in our power to turn your experience around? We look forward to speaking with you. bfogg@sbautogroup.com
THE BEST!
I took two trains to get to Santa Barbara Auto Group to purchase a vehicle and that's because a couple of phone calls and e-mails from Rene Verbrugge and David Zoesch convinced me to do so. When I arrived I was promptly picked up at the train station by David and when we arrived at the dealership and I began the buying process I realized that not only were they going to meet my expectations but exceed them..which they did! I have never had such a pleasurable car-buying experience. They are REAL, GENUINE people! Don't take my word for it...go see for yourself. You won't be disappointed!

Friendly Staff, Horrible Salesmanship
We’re a military family relocating to from VA to CA, and are looking for a specific model/trim for a Land Rover Discovery. We finally landed on a great deal at the Auto Group, and received quick responses from Don and Tony. They were able to negotiate upgrades and discuss decent prices within 24 hours. Until the next morning, when I responded to Tony’s last text (10:20pm EST) at 9:14am EST with “let’s finalize this,” missed a call at 1:07pm EST from Tony, and returned call at 3:30pm to find “another salesman sold the car this morning, it’s first come first serve.” Are you kidding me?! I’ve heard shady things about this group and now know it’s true.

CMRTNZ First and foremost thank you and your family for your service and support to this country. I am the General Manager but also a 14 year US Navy Veteran, I assure you we take serving our military families very seriously and do what we can to give back. That said, we are talking about a $60k + vehicle that is sitting on my lot that I pay flooring on every day it sits here. As a courtesy my team offered to take a deposit on this vehicle to hold it for you, your response was you are still working with other dealers and was not ready to give us a deposit. Yes we have 4 other sales consultants that have families to feed as well, and yes unfortunately while you were shopping other dealers someone else sold/purchased this car. Unfortunately this happens almost monthly and typically the customer who missed out is upset at us. Again, we truly understand that it is upsetting to miss out on a vehicle once you made the decision to buy it, and the term first come first serve is a little cold way of saying it, but we offered a deposit you declined and someone else beat you to the purchase. That's not shady business or bad business, it's just life. Again sorry we missed an opportunity to be of service to one of our military families. Sincerely, Scott Westbrook General Manager Santa Barbara Auto Group USN Veteran
Found the Exact Jag Wagon I wanted
I was looking for a specific Car, a 2018 Jaguar XF SportBrake (Wagon) Nationwide since there have become pretty rare, there are really no 2019's in the country, and Santa Barbara had the exact one I wanted, every available option. They had the only 2 I have seen with every available option. I decided to go with the CPO one since it had the extended Certified warranty, in addition to factory warranty of course, and only had 375 miles on it. They even let me extend the CPO warranty by 1 years so now I'm covered for 6.5 years. The price was already such a great deal, much lower than any others I found and this one had more options, I didn't even try to negotiate and I usually like to try and negotiate on everything. Dealing with Don L. was such a pleasure, I'm in Denver so had to buy this without seeing it in person, he sent me many pictures and videos in addition to the many online pictures I could already see from the ad. He stayed in touch constantly either by phone or text, even on his days off during the week. without me asking he made the sure was loaded carefully by the car hauler when they arrived on a Saturday, his busiest day of the week, but still made sure mine was taken care of. I was able to make the deal quickly once I decided to buy and process was very easy. It was only about a week and half from the time I decided to buy until the Jag was in my garage.

Great service, above and beyond my expectations!!
Sean Wilson made my sales experience stress free, fun and easy. Buying on the internet sight unseen was a little unnerving but Sean promptly handled my initial inquiry and the subsequent sale and answered all of my questions. The car was shipped and arrived in perfect condition with a full tank of gas. I cannot say enough good things about this dealer, Sean, Shannon & Nic they really care about their customers!
