Ready to close the deal, the sales manager blew it up.

Ready to close the deal, the sales manager blew it up. "My manager said that because of the generous discount he gave off the MSRP, he would not discount the nitrogen fee." Generous? And $300 for $30 of nitrogen that is typically only recommended for F1 or aircraft.

Dealer response

It's disappointing to hear about your experience with the nitrogen fee. We strive for transparency and fairness in our pricing, so it's concerning that this left a negative impression. If you'd like to discuss this further or have any other questions, please feel free to reach out. Thank you, Jim Poissant - General Manager - BMW of South Albany

Unprofessional salesmen.

Unprofessional salesmen. I'm going to purchase a new X5 by month end, so I sent a request for a bid to 6 dealers in NY State. This is the only dealer that gave me a hard time and became argumentative because I was "wasting" their time by not giving them information on what the top bidder had bid. The salesman litterally said at the onset that he wanted to "earn" my business, and then proceeded to make the buying process difficult; and in the end refused to give a bid. How can you expect to sell a car if you're not willing to even attempt to "earn" a customers buiness via a competive price. He commented that he wasn't motivate to work with me since I wouldn't be servicing the car there. My adivise is don't waste your time and just go to one of the other 25 BMW dealers in NY. I know I will be. Just a TERRIBLE experience. Johnny Wang is the salesperson who wasted my time and took the dealer out of the competition for a sale of a new 2024 X5 50e. I guess it was too much "work" for him to earn my business.

Get any "promises" from this GM in writing, beware

I am complaining about the general manager to the owner, who is no longer local :( so we will see if they provide hometown service oR "detached" not so interested service from out of state ownership. At this point, I would caution that any representations from this GM be acquired IN WRITING.

I am complaining about the General manager to the new

I am complaining about the General manager to the new dealership owner. Absolutely a terrible experience and totally unprofessional. Once I discuss with the new owner to see if they want to live up to their word, I will share the outcome. As of now, I simply cannot recommend doing business here, and I have spent tens of thousands on cars and tens of thousands on repairs - for over 35 years. I will provide good information for potential customers as an update. UPDATE: The dealer group owner put me in touch with Market President Maria Dunning who quickly solved an issue the BMW GM caused. She deserves full credit for exceptional customer service. I hope she will also be able to take whatever corrective action is necessary with the GM so that this issue is not repeated in the future.

Add another bad review to clearly a crooked dealership

Add another bad review to clearly a crooked dealership that should be investigated for theft. Bought a used car from them. I test drove vehicle and front end sensor light popped up and needed to be brought to VW dealership. Car was in an accident that was not reported. They knew about it because they had to bring to VW dealer to have front end sensors replaced and VW explained it was in an accident and they had to pay entire amount on a vehicle with 18K miles because warranty was no good any longer. Then I come in after its fixed, still no idea its been in accident and bought because of low miles and many more on warranty. First time I bring in for service to my VW dealer, they explain car has been in an accident and my remaining 5 years of warranty is now void because of accident. Tried several times calling South Albany BMW dealership. Nobody has helped at all. Nobody returns calls. Hopefully the AG will investigate this lowlife despicable dealership. They’re clearly screwing over people on a regular basis. Look at their reviews. One or two, sure, but this is a systemic culture of theft from consumers. What a shame.

I brought my 09 328i in for some basic maintenance and inspection. When I got the vehicle back my left headlight was flooded with rain water. They told me it was my problem and quoted me a bill to repair the light. Albeit this happened about a year ago, it still irks me from time to time. I highly recommend Keeler BMW instead.

On Friday, December 24, 2021, I went to the BMW of South Albany location to purchase a 2019 BMW X5. My salesperson, Johnny Wang, was introduced to me. From the start, Johnny was unpleasant and aggressive, telling me I couldn't afford the vehicle and even suggesting a cheaper vehicle to buy in a belittling manner. I had the impression that Johnny was attempting to get rid of me from the start when he refused to assist me in filling out my business credit application, which I was told to complete on my own. I informed them I was in a hurry and asked if they could expedite the procedure a little because the personnel was taking an excessive amount of time doing their job. Johnny said, "For what?", "Where do you even have to go, home?" I was astounded that a customer service agent could be so rude to their consumers. Jeff Owens, the financial manager, was presented to me. Jeff informed me that I had been accepted for BMW finance, but that the terms were not what I had hoped for. On Monday, he said he'd call other banks for better rates and terms. On Monday, December 27, I received no calls from them and had to wait until 3:00 until I was finally contacted. I had to phone them numerous times before. Another employee at the dealership, Rich, contacted me and informed me that the car had been sold that morning and that if I wanted to buy it, I would have to pay cash. At the moment, I felt betrayed and insulted. I'm not sure what their true motives were, but I felt like I was being judged solely on the basis of my appearance and that I wasn't getting the same treatment as everyone else. The dealership still obtains the rights to my business and personal credit information and I am not comfortable as the staff has not proven to be trustworthy as I fear the possibility of being compromised.

I finally got my dream car! 2021 BMW 5 Series. I went in to shop around. I was greeted by a young man named Ammar Bhatti. Turns out that, due to COVID, there aren’t many new cars available. But they did have two beauties in the 5 series to check out. This was my first new BMW. I have had two pre owned. Once you drive one, you are hooked. Ammar was wonderful to work with. He showed me the features of both ( which are numerous) and spent a few hours with me, helping me to decide and working out the details of my trade in. I have shopped at this dealership for many years. Working my way up from my first Jetta (they used to sell VW’s) to Passats, the 3 Series BMW and onto the 5. The service department has always been helpful and courteous. Cudos to Larry, Jeff and Brad. Loving my new ride. If you are in the market for a BMW, or a “new to you” other model vehicle, stop by and meet Ammar. A wonderful young man who knows his business. And not pushy in any way! I continue to be a satisfied customer after all these years😊
