I was shocked :Tony thought about a customer buying a new car (over $30,000 )from John Kennedy Subaru was asking for the money from him. The customer can't have questions about the car. I wasted my whole day there. The GM even said I broke the agreement. I ask him to investigate internally for the truth. But he said it is difficult for him.

Bought a 2022 Subaru Forester off a personal lease. Marcus Gallicio was my salesperson, and he is very knowledgeable and helpful. The used car manager, Steve, was also very helpful. There was the chip and small crack in the windshield which was previously repaired by the former lessee. This repair passed state inspection, but was still distracting as it was in the driver field of view. Both Marcus and Steve arranged to replace the windshield for me, and I only needed to pay for a fraction of the cost. Being a used vehicle, the windshield was not covered under the existing Subaru engine and drivetrain warranty and there was no longer a John Kennedy dealer warranty. However, they recognized replacing the windshield would improve driving safety (for me and other drivers on the road), which was a priority shared by all. Additionally, this gesture also delivered highly on customer satisfaction by replacing the windshield. They were very honest when discussing the available used cars, and ultimately settled on the 2022 model which was a great choice suiting my needs over the other used cars. The used car buying experience at this dealership, especially working with Marcus and Steve was fantastic!

On Monday morning, I brought my 2021 Forester to your service department with a warning lights issue. Just earlier, I had talked with Josh, who told me of no appointments available this week, but that he would try to work it in; I checked the car in with Josh, and had a lovely ride home in your courtesy car. In the afternoon, I received a text from Josh that the problem had been diagnosed, and the car would be ready late the next afternoon. Then that next morning, Josh texted that the car was ready, including my six-month maintenance, and at my request, arranged ("ensured") the courtesy car for early afternoon. Josh has surely done himself proud by me! Over 3.5 years, I have always been very satisfied with your service department, most often for six-month maintenance, and once for a tire replacement, so I have not been surprised by this latest experience, but especially delighted!! Many thanks. Bob Kirkpatrick

The service department refused to honor my tire service contract and told me it was expired, which it wasn't. When I argued, they went to lengths explaining how it was expired, basically gaslighting me. I left and took my car to another dealership and the contract was immediately honored.

Without knowing your name, we cannot investigate your claims or contact you to make amends. We can only go by the description you gave of your visit. After asking our team if they recognized a scenario like the one you described, we believe you are Sello Bodibe, who had a tire issue and was with the understanding that the warranty for the tires was still valid. If this review is from you, we are sorry, but the email we received from your warranty company clearly shows that your coverage was expired. While you were with your Service Advisor discussing the email he received, our Service Manager was on the phone at the adjacent desk, getting verbal confirmation from the warranty company to make sure we had accurate information on your account. They confirmed that the email was correct and said your coverage was no longer valid. We can only go by what we are told. We do not know how another dealer approved it based on what your warranty company told us, but if that is the case, we’re glad you found a better result. We would have loved to honor the warranty, but we could not move forward after getting double confirmation showing it expired.

I bought my 2006 Forrester on Dec. 28, 2005 and have had a wonderful experience as its owner. But, over the past two years, 2021 - 2022 I have had two unfortunate experiences with their Service department. Back in summer 2021, I had a big repair, and upon picking up the car, the carpets and drivers side door were smeared with an excess amount of grime and grease. I commented to Tom Listello, Sec, Manager via a web-based feedback form, and never received a reply. Today, June 17, 2022, I went in for two tires, and upon returning home, found that there was no spare tire in the trunk. When I called and spoke to the service writer, he said, it was left next to your car in the lot. I did not see the spare near the car, and I was told to come back and get it.. Why did the mechanic not put the spare tire in the car? I live more than ten miles from the dealer. Also, I left a message for the same Svc. Manager, Ton Listello, AND I NEVER HEARD BACK. What the heck is going on with Customer Service? Well, it sucks.

Nick, we are very sorry you received the experience you described in your post. Every day we strive to get things right, and we usually do; however, we did not with your visit, which is unacceptable. We understand your frustration and reluctance to do business with us in the future. If there's anything we can do to amend the relationship, our General Manager, Anthony Barone, would like to make this right for you. He is in today and can be reached at 610-239-2930 or by email at [email protected]. We want you to know we appreciate you posting your experience. It has pointed out an area of needed improvement that we need to address. The only way we can improve upon the service we provide for our customers is through feedback like yours. Again, please accept our apologies, and we honestly would like the opportunity to earn back your trust.

I’ve been buying cars for over 60 years and can't remember ever having a more pleasant experience. I went to 3 other dealers and the others would not seriously negotiate over the phone. They insisted you come in. Just like the good ole days. Here the initial price was reasonable and I was encouraged to try a variety of models. Marie was the best.

Excellent customer service! Rob was friendly, professional, and knowledgable. He patiently answered questions and was informative but not pushy, which was much appreciated. I visited several dealerships and the experience here was unmatched. Great people to work with and great place to buy a car!

Came in to look at a Used Subaru Legacy and when I arrived I was told the car went through their own service mechanic for general maintenance as they just got it to the lot. I was told the engine had been sealed. I asked why and Rob the Salesman said that there was an oil leak from the engine. That didn’t sound very promising to me considering the car would cost a bit more than $17,000 and I planned on making this an end-all be-all reliable car for years to come. So I asked if it could go through a simple diagnostics test (which it should have since they sent me a sheet with all the prep work done by the service mechanic: new tires, oil change, etc…) to make sure that’s not going to be an issue and the engine seal was not just a bandaid nor was it noted on the service documents I received. Rob told me to not worry about it and that it was normal for older cars/this model to have these types of things happen. So I again asked for a diagnostics test and they said they were too busy and couldn’t perform one. I thought that was a bit odd and rather ridiculous honestly. I called the service manager to bypass said nonsense and left a message. To which the salesman Rob left me a message and said just to go through him as the manager is very busy. I would have gone through the salesman but I keep getting a dead end answer of no just trust us and we can’t check on an obvious problem. I then called Anthony the GM for a final and third reach and he said “Honestly, we get a lot of used cars and I just plain don’t know anything about it.” Truly blew my mind that this was the way the situation had been handled. You think it’s be easier to give someone money - It left a bitter taste in my mouth and will not be returning to this location. For the record to anyone reading this far, I don’t think anyone at the dealership was crooked or trying to scam me: it was just lazy, stubborn and unorganized. Save yourself a headache and just shop elsewhere.

Matthew, we’re sorry your experience did not go as well as you expected and as well as we would have liked. The Legacy you had an interest in was just traded days earlier. As we always do, we did our inspection and found that it needed new gaskets and a timing chain. We completed that work and put it on the lot to sell. After working on Subaru vehicles as long as we have, we can assure you that replacing a gasket to fix an oil leak and installing a new timing chain is normal for a Legacy with the mileage this one had on it. Your request for diagnostics to be run was not possible through our shop due to their workload with service customers. We welcomed the idea of you taking it to your mechanic to do the diagnostics, but we never heard back from you after you told us you would come in to pick it up. We understand that you have moved on, and we’re sorry that your experience was not as smooth as we usually offer.

Consumer response

Hey guys, so recap: I talked with your salesmen Rob extensively so before telling me I didn’t communicate and left out, you should read all of the texts I sent to your company line that the manager (Anthony) and salesman (Rob) could both see and referenced for this very issue. I explained this but to reiterate: I did text back and say that this car wouldn’t work as I needed Car Insurance to take the car for the day to pay my own way through an inspection. Seeing as though I didn’t have a car yet, it would be impossible to get car insurance for a car I don’t own to get tested. Secondly, This Legacy had about 40,000 miles on it. As a common rule of thumb, it suggested to expect a blowout/replacement gasket for a major issue/oil problem at around 100,000 to 150,000 miles. That is about 60,000 to 110,000 miles earlier than it should be for this type of issue. I have the report for the work done and I do not recall any mention of ‘gaskets’ being replaced so that raises more questions in my mind if the details said. Again, You should communicate with Rob and ask him more details because I talked to him extensively over text asking for answers. The idea that I just never communicated back is false and maybe more attention should be paid to your customers before you shoot back un-researched information. Communication is key, talk to your team and be more mindful. All in All, I wasn’t fond of all the excuses, the run around and especially the finger pointing for a simple diagnostics check that could have resolved everything in its place. I see this is not how the business is run in all facets which is why I moved on. I hope you have a great day and do better with future customers as I’ve seen quite a few on your Google reviews with 1 star. Thank You. Matthew
