No Customer Service/Negligence

Came in to look at a Used Subaru Legacy and when I arrived I was told the car went through their own service mechanic for general maintenance as they just got it to the lot. I was told the engine had been sealed. I asked why and Rob the Salesman said that there was an oil leak from the engine. That didn’t sound very promising to me considering the car would cost a bit more than $17,000 and I planned on making this an end-all be-all reliable car for years to come. So I asked if it could go through a simple diagnostics test (which it should have since they sent me a sheet with all the prep work done by the service mechanic: new tires, oil change, etc…) to make sure that’s not going to be an issue and the engine seal was not just a bandaid nor was it noted on the service documents I received. Rob told me to not worry about it and that it was normal for older cars/this model to have these types of things happen. So I again asked for a diagnostics test and they said they were too busy and couldn’t perform one. I thought that was a bit odd and rather ridiculous honestly. I called the service manager to bypass said nonsense and left a message. To which the salesman Rob left me a message and said just to go through him as the manager is very busy. I would have gone through the salesman but I keep getting a dead end answer of no just trust us and we can’t check on an obvious problem. I then called Anthony the GM for a final and third reach and he said “Honestly, we get a lot of used cars and I just plain don’t know anything about it.” Truly blew my mind that this was the way the situation had been handled. You think it’s be easier to give someone money - It left a bitter taste in my mouth and will not be returning to this location. For the record to anyone reading this far, I don’t think anyone at the dealership was crooked or trying to scam me: it was just lazy, stubborn and unorganized. Save yourself a headache and just shop elsewhere.

Matthew, we’re sorry your experience did not go as well as you expected and as well as we would have liked. The Legacy you had an interest in was just traded days earlier. As we always do, we did our inspection and found that it needed new gaskets and a timing chain. We completed that work and put it on the lot to sell. After working on Subaru vehicles as long as we have, we can assure you that replacing a gasket to fix an oil leak and installing a new timing chain is normal for a Legacy with the mileage this one had on it. Your request for diagnostics to be run was not possible through our shop due to their workload with service customers. We welcomed the idea of you taking it to your mechanic to do the diagnostics, but we never heard back from you after you told us you would come in to pick it up. We understand that you have moved on, and we’re sorry that your experience was not as smooth as we usually offer.

subaru outback

there estimate was 1,000 more then other dealer. car came back with grease on door handle grease on hood grease on inside of door. spoke with manager who had no remorse said they would rub it off which did not work. I it needed a spray to do it right. This place is so below par its a shame because we purchased it there. BEWARE

Awful

Awful. I bought my car here in 2015 but then moved for a little while. I was excited to move back in the area and have my dealership super close. Over the last couple years I’ve interacted with a couple of Subaru dealerships in NJ and it was AWFUL. I was SURE that MY dealership would be far nicer. Nope. Same rude, entitled company. Where the service person I spoke to could have been helpful and make suggestions to help me get my headlight bulb replaced before traveling in 7 days, he was curt, unhelpful and condescending. I will never own another Subaru, I will never come to this dealership again. This was the biggest nail in the coffin I’ve ever seen.

2017 Subaru Forester - Kennedy Subaru

Great dealership all the way around . . .Had a battery issue with my 2017 Forester - took to a dealer closer to my home twice - -they basically told me nothing was wrong with battery - and it was my fault - - cannot leave any door open, etc. not even for a minute??? So i had enough of the car dying - -went to Kennedy where I purchased the car - they knew the issue right away - although they thought remedied the first time - it was better but did not fix - -the second time they fixed it! Went out of their way to make it right.

2017 Subaru Forester - Kennedy Subaru

Frustrating and expensive

I've been getting my car serviced at the dealership since I purchased my car in 2012. The past few times I have not have positive experiences. I've had to use loaner cars while they tried to fix my car. This last time after not believing me that something was wrong, while my car sat there, the battery died and in the end, my nothing wrong with your car ended up being very costly. I will never go back.

This was my first visit to John Kennedy Subaru and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Beginning with General Manager, Anthony Barone and Sales Consultant, Anne Davis the experience was excellent. They work well together to provide an overview of the different vehicles, suggest test drives and sincerely try to match me with the right car. I've leased four Subaru Foresters in a row and wanted to try the Outback if it was affordable. They offered the most competitive price and I now drive a beautiful 2017 Silver Outback. The upgrades from my 2014 Forester are so helpful, particularly the large screen and driving aids (backup and blindspot). Anne took me on a tour of the dealership to meet the Service Manager and a Delivery Specialist who I will sit down with in the near future to review any questions I might have. They offer Shuttle Service and loaner cars. They offer a car wash any time. I highly recommend John Kennedy Subaru. I'm enjoying the Outback more each time I drive it.
