About our dealership

This seller has been on Cars.com since January 2004.
It was over 80 years ago when Karl Knauz the father of the current chairman opened a gas station in Lake Forest. Since then the Knauz family has weathered the good times and the bad and done so by taking care of customers using 'The Golden Rule". In addition to our car dealerships we also have a state of the art; Body Shop & Detail Center plus a Pre-Owned Center Knauz North (located approximately 1.2 miles north of the Autopark) with an indoor vehicle and tire storage facility. Even in today's uncertain times you can always find a friendly face at the Knauz Autopark and they will greet you with a smile.

The transaction was very smooth and quick.

The transaction was very smooth and quick. The car was ready and all questions were answered. This is the 3rd car we've purchased from Knauz and we've always had excellent service. Bob Geisheker, our salesman did a great job!

Our addiction is automobiles.

Our addiction is automobiles. We've owned many vehicles over the years and are repeat customers with several dealers in the N.E. Illinois / S.E. Wisconsin area. Our latest transaction was the trade of a 2023 Mini Cooper Countryman JCW (John Cooper Works) for a 2021 BMW X3 M40i. Both are incredible vehicles, but a lifestyle change dictated we get a slightly larger vehicle with a factory hitch. The Countryman JCW is a beast--AWD, great handling, 301 hp, and 28 mpg city, 33 mpg highway. But most people think it's a "toy car" and underestimate it, negatively impacting trade values. Bob Geisheker was the salesperson we contacted. He was very open, above board, and did not pressure us throughout the entire process. When we expressed our deep disappointment with the price offered for our Mini Cooper trade, Bob took this seriously. He had our backs and shared our comments with the Finance Manager, the person who determines the trade-in pricing. Bob had us meet the person face-to-face. When we met, we insisted he do an on-site inspection of the car, and then come back to us with a price. The dealership came back with a better trade-in price for the Mini and we were able to complete the transaction. Bob Geisheker was terrific to work with for this transaction. When we purchase another vehicle from Knauz, we'll ask for Bob Geisheker.

Have worked with Bob Geisheker at Knauz BMW for over a decade and he has always been accommodating and responsive. I would not hesitate to recommend Bob to anyone shopping for a car. When i think about a new car, i am always hoping that Bobbhas not retired.

Buyer beware he or his appraiser offered only 40k on my trade that KElly Blue Book valued between 54K to 61K. Another BMW dealer valued it at 57K. Needless to say I decided to work with a reputable dealer other than Knauz that didn't try to rip me off. Following explanation added to further explain the review: sskambal9 responded publicly on 1/02/24 12:50 PM Hi, This review is in reference for the insane appraisal of my trade which is in mint condition. Bob and I came close on the price for the car I wanted to buy. All that was left was to get a fair appraisal on my car hat KBB had a trade in range of 54K to 61K. What Bob came back with from whoever did the appraisal was 40K, which was ridiculous. Only a con man or complete moron appraiser would make a completely inaccurate appraisal like that. Now, as for Bob, I realize he did not develop he appraisal. However, in every BMW dealership I've dealt with the Salesperson, Appraiser, New Car Sales Manager and Used Car Sales Manager and maybe even the GM would work together to develop a compromise that works for me and all of them, so a fair deal can be developed. It is obvious that, in the case of my situation, this kind of teamwork did not occur at Knaus. So I gave the review to Bob since I can't review the entire list of folks who dropped the ball. When in reality the review is for the entire dealership Not just Bob.
