I went to Mungenast to see if Financing a new car would be possible. I had been to many other dealerships over the past several months and had bait n... switch tactics pulled on me. I spoke to the Sales Manager Erica first, she took some preliminary info and told me the numbers would work if we could get a certain finance rate. I came in a couple weeks later and ended up speaking with their Finance Manager Kevin. It took him only a few minutes to run the numbers and tell me if it was possible before running my credit as I didn't want points taken off my credit unneccessarily. I also spoke with the owner Dave that evening who set me up with a Sales Person Jason. I cannot give enough accollades to this dealership. They truly listen to their customer and give realistic expectations without all the sales tactics other dealerships use. I felt comfortable and listened to through the entire sales process and ended up buying the same car for the same price other dealerships told me wasn't possible. They were even able to get the credit company to lower my finance rate to make the sale possible. We purchased my grandmothers car through Mungenast in December with another sales person and we were treated exactly the same then. My grandma said that was the best car buying experience she has ever had. Mungenast has our business going forward. I would tell anyone....if you are looking for a toyota or scion....visit Mungenast. They are wonderful. Don't waste your time talking to other dealerships in the area. If you are in Missouri....its worth the drive to Alton, IL.
After seeing a 2015 Tundra online while out of town working, I contacted Alex Abramson about it. While being out working, Alex wasnt a pushy salesman like... others. After seeing the truck a couple time, I set up an appointment with Alex which couldnt have went better. When I arrived Alex had the truck parked and ready for a test drive. The whole staff was super kind and friendly while attending. Service manager walked me through all the service history on the truck. Alex wasnt pushy with anything at all. I knew he was there to help. Being a chevy person I was nervous about the process but man was it good. Excited to be part of such an awesome team!
I found an amazing Toyota Tundra online and the price was amazing with all the warrantees and service package that was offered. Gave me a good trade in... value and I even drove 8 hours from Cleveland to get my new truck. Evan, who handles online sales was very professional and thorough with the purchasing process. My new truck was exactly what I wanted and I got even more. The cover package for the truck bed was a nice touch to the vehicle. Every time I call to ask a question from service to payments, the staff comes across very knowledgeable and make you feel like family. Thanks Mungenast Toyota
Dave mungenast allows the staff to take advantage of people by encouraging them to sell gap insurance and ridiculous service agreements. I left my son... to close the deal because I had to go to work. We had agreed on a price for a Yaris. I later learned they took advantage of him. Buyer Beware. An expensive lesson for him. Never again.
I am on a boat passing through Alton, IL and needed to rent a car for a few days. The big name car rental agency was too busy to come and get me, so someone... recommended that I try Mungenast Toyota. From the moment I contacted them, the experience was amazing. Both Julie, the rental manager, and Tammy (who filled in) worked with me on the rental pickup and return and I can honestly say that I have not met two more friendly, customer oriented people. They are both a credit to the dealership. If I lived in this area and needed to purchase a vehicle there is no doubt that I would visit Mungenast Alton Toyota - - the facilities are beautiful and everyone with whom I made contact was impressive. I will also make it a point to recommend them as a source of rental cars to others in the boating community. Thanks very much for being such a pleasure to work with!
UPDATE: Mungenast reached out to us to offer repairs and a free of charge rental. Great! However, the people we dealt with grew increasingly rude as... we tried to explain our water problem, and worst of all...they SCRATCHED OUR CAR WHILE MAKING THE REPAIRS! Totally unprofessional and ridiculous! I appreciate the effort made to try to make things right...but it was half-hearted at best, and now we are left with a ding-ed up driver's door and inexplicable pink streaks on the hood.
Terrible customer service from Mungenast. When we went to buy our Prius C, had an interesting experience at the dealership itself...and then, when we found... issues a couple of weeks later, the dealership was INCREDIBLY unhelpful and unresponsive. The salesperson that we were working with the whole time wasn't even there when we cane for our appointment to look at the car, and the person filling in was clearly unaware of our situation. He sat us down to do the paperwork before we had even seen or test-drove the car, and then we were told that the price was no longer negotiable because the salesperson we originally were talking to was not there, and the sales manager had already gone home. This issue, in itself, isn't enough to warrant a one-star review, but the actual problems with the car certainly are. A couple of issues with our car: *We were not told that it came with only 1 key fob until AFTER we signed all of the paperwork. It costs upwards of $300 to get a 2nd key programmed by the dealership. *Several components (plugs of some sort) were improperly installed (upside down), leading to heavy, heavy flooding in the interior of the car. After emailing, leaving voicemails, and sending pictures, this issue has STILL not been resolved. I'm talking an INCH of standing water on our carpets, and we now fear that there is mold underneath because of the improperly installed plugs. To fix this, the carpet needs to be ripped out, the plugs reinstalled, and the carpets replaced. An expensive fix, in other words. *The front door on the driver's side doesn't lock. AT ALL. Mungenast is happy to send us monthly reminders to schedule this $555.49 fix--something that we absolutely should have been informed about before we purchased the car. BUT, like I mentioned, we were rushed through the selling process and this forced us to not be able to properly look at the car. This is a TOYOTA car, from a TOYOTA dealership. There is no excuse for rushing us through a sale, with a non-negotiable price, only to be told/find out of these errors afterwards. Furthermore, after not receiving ANY communication in response to our repeated voicemails and emails, we will not be going back to or recommending Mungenast anytime soon.

My husband called this location today and spoke with a salesman named AJ about a particular vehicle we were interested in. We would be driving a pretty... good distance and don't have time to waste because we have to make a purchase today. He specifically asked AJ if a certain payment range would be a possibility. He was reluctant to say yes or no, because as we all know it's based on our credit and down payment to a certain extent, however, we knew that the price would have to come down just a bit for us to land in that range. AJ told us to come on in after my husband thoroughly set the expectations and asked if there was wiggle room in the price, in which we were told there was. An hour later we are in the dealership and crunching numbers. We were having a conversation with AJ and I had mentioned that if they come down a bit and we put a little more down, that the payment would work. The sales manager, Oli, interrupterd our conversation (nice guy) and basically told us that there is absolutely no wiggle room and that he will wholesale the vehicle before he drops the price any. Funny thing is, AJ said there is less than $1000 that they could come off just minutes before the sales manager said zero. Which is accurate? This would have been nice to know before we wasted 2 hours seeing a vehicle that didn't make financial sense. AJ could have easily told us this from the get-go, but instead he figured if he could get us in, he could sell a car. Very misleading and a waste of time.
I was in a bind last week with my car breaking down to an unrepairable point. When I called the dealership the customer service person quickly understood... my needs and has a sense of urgency. FIVE STARS for product delivery.
The GM and I had come to an agreement on the price of a vehicle and confirmed that I would be purchasing the vehicle. They suggested financing through... them but I already had my own financing and had the necessary funds. The dealership called the morning of the sale to let me know that they needed a deposit to secure the sale to which I agreed. Within 10 minutes of giving them my information for the deposit, they called me back to let me know that they are selling the vehicle to someone who was on their way to the dealership an offered a larger deposit AFTER I had already given them mine. They chose to sell the car to the larger deposit without even consulting me after telling me that only a minimal deposit was needed to secure the sale. The experience was very poor and the sales manager that I spoke with who explained it to me was very rude and arrogant and said that this is just the way it goes and I'll have to deal with it and find a different vehicle. The salesman was helpful but management who made the decision was extremely unprofessional and lacks a general understanding of customer service. Do your self a favor and look elsewhere before visiting this dealership. You will thank me later!!
Jack- We are very sorry for this unfortunate incident. We totally understand why you are upset with us. We had two salespeople working on selling the ...same truck at exactly the same time. Both salespeople took a deposit on the truck within minutes of one another. The other customer's deposit was the first to come in. When our other salesperson came up with your deposit minutes later, we were stuck in the unfortunate situation of having to tell one of two people that we could not honor the deal that was struck minutes earlier. At that point, we could only stick by our policy and honor the first deposit received. We then made the call to inform you of the situation. We accept that this situation is 100% of our own doing. Incidents like this do not happen often here, but we sincerely apologize that this one did. We strive to offer top notch customer service to every customer who comes in contact with us.
