Scams and hidden fees!
I found out much later, because my car dealer didn't tell me, that CARMAX is not only the people who SET your interest rate, but also that they are charging you $1.56 a day for a "Daily Finance Charge", which adds up to $2,847 over 5 years! I'll NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH CARMAX AGAIN! Now i'm about to pay off a huge chunk of the loan just to stop these vultures from ripping me off any further. I can't believe i didn't catch that!

LUXURY BUYERS BEWARE CARMAX POTOMAC NO GOOD
THE worst car buying experience in my 47 years on this earth. Their service department destroyed our luxury vehicle and put us out of a car! Here's the story. My wife and I purchased a Lexus from the Ashburn location. We noticed on the lot there was water in the headlight and our salesmen's John said it could be fixed after the purchase. So we bought the car. Our mistake was taking it to the Woodbridge location for the work to be performed. After about two weeks of back and fourth because they said they had to order the part we finally got the car in the shop. We bought a Lexus IS250 and they gave us a malfunctioning Nissan Sentra with dog hair all over it. ( I took pictures of the malfunction indication light, dirty interior and dog as proof). This was on a Thursday and I decided not to complain, thinking surely we wont have it long as it doesnt take long to replace a headlight. Friday, no call. Weekend no call. Monday my wife received a voicemail that the bumper wouldn't fit back on so they were going to have a new bumper painted and installed! What a minute! What?? We put it in the shop for a headlight! I left work and went there immediately. Jessica told me that the tech had broken a clip on the bumper and the new clip didnt fit so they would have to put a new bumper on. I went and spoke to the manager of the business side and told him this was unacceptable as I didn't want the original bumper removed because it would depreciate the car. He said they did it all the time and its standard. I told him it would be hard to match and I dont want a non factory part on a Lexus with 30k miles on it. He asked me to just wait and see how it came out but in the meantime he would switch my loaner to a nicer car. I agreed and left. Wednesday Jessica left a message that the job didnt go well as the bumper didnt fit right, and it was not looking even. Also the color didn't match (exactly my point from the beginning) and it would take another week or so to complete! So again I went to carmax. The car was worst than she said. FIRST it was not the original style bumper, didn't even look the same. That's why it didn't fit I assume. They probably couldnt find my exact year. There was overspray from the new bumper on the part that didn't get painted. ( a carmax manager pointed that out) there was glue on the side where they tried to put it on! I almost passed out. Jessica said they needed to send it to another body shop to get it right. I was oh no, you guys are keeping this car now. She wanted me to talk to the service manager so she took me in a room where i met the service manager. Nice lady but when I explained that this whole thing has diminished the actual value of the car she said, " not really because no one would know". She said, "theres no record of that stuff and Carmax doesnt diminish the value of cars based on repair work". So I said Carmax might not but another dealership most likely will! And I'll said they'll know immediately if they know their Lexus's. She agreed. That's when I said I want to turn it back in to you today. Luckily we still had one more day left on the 30 day money back. Actually they had in the shop a week out of the 30 days. I told the service manager and the business office manager exactly what I thought had happened. I think they destroyed the bumper by either breaking something that held it on, or someone crashed it. Thats why it took all that time. They were looking for a replacement the whole time, and with that car they couldn't find it! Either way, you don't go to a shop to have a headlight replaced and end up needing an entire new bumper. Both times I just blank stares.

Just Legal Scam Artists
Do not waste your time or money with these people, they have zero loyalty to the customer. We went to trade in a vehicle we bought there 2 years ago, and the offer was so low balled that it made me cringe. I spoke to a "manager" and he said this is what it is, doesn't matter that you bought all those cars from us or that we xxxxx you in price. Don't do business with a company who can't stand behind it's business transactions. We are buying again, but it will never be with Carmax and I plan to post it everywhere that will let me. They are scam artists and they just don't care. I would like to say that the girl in the business office was very sweet and efficient, but it was still a terrible experience

Offered low price
Woodbridge appraiser sited a damaged hood. Total nonsense. There was a small paint chip about the size of a sharpened pencil lead point from where probably a tiny tiny rock hit it. Took it to the Sterling CarMax. They offered me 1K more than the Woodbridge location with, "Nice job getting the hood repaired." I did NOTHING to get the hood 'repaired'....because there WASN'T ANY DAMAGE TO BEGIN WITH. The Woodbridge appraiser needs to get his head examined because he's obviously on some kind of fast food restaurant manager style power trip.

Worst car buying experience ever!!!
I purchased a Acura TL from this store, Delfin was the sales person and was rude, always talking over me and not listing. I took the car to Acura to get a basic multipoint inspection and they found that the battery failed the test, both air and engine filters was bad, brake fluid was black as well as transmission fluid, oil change needed to be done, tires rotated and there was no wheel lock key for the car in case I need to change a flat tire. Dents and scratches on the car, car was delivered to me dirty. I was advised by my salesperson that Acura is just trying to sell me the repairs so they could get the money for it. I told him that I told Acura that Carmax would be handling the repairs and not Acura and I just need to know what needs to be done. On Carmax website it states that they spend on average 12 hours reconditioning a car- This is a lie, the car I bought was taken directly off the auction block and sold to me with no basic reconditioning or maintenance so it seems. I spoke with the sales manger Terron and he informed me that he will bring the car to Carmax standards. They ended up taking care of everything except for the brake and transmission flush I showed the service manager that in owners manual brake system flush should be done at 30k miles which the car was at. I was also told that they follow manufactures suggested service and that they would need to send the car to Acura for the brake and transmission flush. They had the car for over two weeks and told me they are done bringing the car to standards and that they wouldn't be doing the brake and transmission flush. If you call corporate expecting them to help don't they can't really do anything. Advice to people purchasing a car from Carmax in Woodbridge VA. DON'T! ----Purchase from Fredericksburg store instead they are nicer and more likely to work with you if you have a problem... ALSO TAKE ANY CAR YOU PURCHASE AT CARMAX TO GET A MULTIPOINT INSPECTION WITHIN THE 5 DAY RETURN WINDOW. It will only cost you $60 and could save you a headache later... this is a volume dealer most likely selling 400 cars a month they could careless about your problems with the car they sold you...

Poor quality control on used car
Purchased a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country from the Woodbridge VA location. Had to bring it back twice for multiple maintenance faults. Brakes, rotors. Transmission, patched tire that kept setting the tire sensor off, all within the first 30 days. Carmax only offered excuses on why it takes them twice as long to fix a vehicle- they never made things right. Very disappointed with their maintenance so far. Never got a call back from the service manager. Guess business is good and we don't matter.
