If transparency matters to you, be extremely cautious

If transparency matters to you, be extremely cautious with Cadillac Covert. Let me be very clear: if they had been upfront as they claim to be, they would have started by saying their labor rate is $249/hour and that my warranty company only covers $170/hour. Instead, I was told, “They’re only covering half the cost,” which was misleading at best. I was also told that “the mechanic is going to take some time off the job and give me a $100 discount.” That turned out to be false. My warranty company approved 2.8 hours of labor, and it looked like this shop tried to inflate the time. Do I know that for a fact? No—but the way things played out sure makes it seem that way. They also never mentioned you were overcharging for parts, or that you were tacking on an $85 charge for a battery test after installing the battery. That was never explained upfront. In fact, a lot of important details were left out—including what actually got communicated to the warranty adjuster. Had I known the full picture, I would’ve stopped the work on my vehicle immediately. They claim to have highly qualified technicians, but an ASE certification for the shop just means one certified tech. I know you’ll say your people are GM or Cadillac-certified, but that just means they specialize in those brands. That doesn’t justify the lack of transparency. And here’s another red flag: they waived the diagnostic fee, but that wasn’t reflected in the warranty claim. Instead, the $85 battery test was added. Why? That makes no sense—unless it was a way to recoup cost without notifying me. They told me dealerships are always more expensive. That’s just not true. I take my GMC to Covert right next door, and they’ve actually been less expensive than independent shops I’ve used. So that argument doesn’t hold up either. Here’s the bottom line: they may not have lied, but they definitely weren’t honest or upfront—and that matters just as much. Because of the way this was handled, I lost the ability to make an informed decision about where to take my vehicle. They led me to believe my warranty company was shorting me—when in reality, they were. I was angry enough yesterday to consider canceling my warranty altogether. I even took my frustration out on AJ from the warranty company, which I’m not proud of—but to his credit, he calmly explained what might really be happening. And sure enough, he was right. I’m not sure how much prepaid maintenance I have left, but once it’s used up, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere—and that includes GMC Covert. If this is how Cadillac Covert operates, I have no reason to trust the sister shop next door, owned by the same people. I truly hope I never have to do business with this place again.

Dealer response

Mr. Perez, Our apologies for the misunderstanding and the difference in the labor rate pricing and how much your warranty company covers. Best Regards!

Excellent service.

Excellent service. I always wait in the lounge. The service took about 1.5 hours. If you could do anything improve the wait time of Customer who has an appointment and was on time that would great. Also, I found out after booking the appointment that Mondays are discount day and that would have been helpful to know from the scheduler.

We had our transmission replaced at 124,000 miles on a 2018 Buick Enclave. Covert did a wonderful job and took care of every concern. Mark Cordez is our service coordinator at Covert and he is very capable and wonderful to work with. Not happy with the transmission but very happy with Mark Cordez.

I was recently in the market for a Cadillac and ended up

I was recently in the market for a Cadillac and ended up deciding to go with a late model used one. I visited Covert Cadillac and met with Derek McNabb. He was extremely personable, down to earth and I grew to trust him very quickly. Unfortunately, the dealership didn't have exactly what we were looking for and Derek tried his very best to find one for us. I couldn't have been more impressed with him and even though we ultimately bought the car elsewhere out of town, I feel like I made a new friend. He was very professional but also a genuinely warm guy.

“The dealership charged me 250 dollars to diagnose my car, but they couldn’t find the problem and thought the transmission was the issue.” “And they offered to open the transmission and check it for 900 dollars. If it needed replacement, the total cost would be 9000 dollars.” “Because I didn’t accept that, I took my car to another shop.” “Another shop checked my car and found that it didn’t have a transmission problem. It just had an engine misfire, and they fixed it for 500 dollars.” “When I went back to the dealership and told them they misdiagnosed the problem and asked for a refund, they didn’t accept it and didn’t return my money.”

I visited the dealership through an online lead and Oscar

I visited the dealership through an online lead and Oscar was assigned to work with me. He was thorough, professional and did not use the typical sales tactics. He was also able to find the employer and other discounts we were qualified for without much hassle. He is on point and we were able to get the Lyriq within a few hours. Later noticed that some of the mats etc were missing and he was able to get those from the parts departments and made them available by the time I was ready to pick them up. Overall the interactions were very positive and I would highly recommend him.
