I purchased a pre-owned BMW and their pricing was very good. The customer service was excellent and everyone was very helpful. My sales rep Karen Hernandez... was nice and I never felt any pressure to purchase a vehicle. It was a great shopping experience and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a car.
Do not buy from them , you will regret it. They lie and don’t care about you. They only car about getting your money. Don’t buy from Joanna.... Don’t believe anything they tell you even the manager Jason, they are thief’s.
I brought in my 2014 VW GTI because my check engine light came on and also because I lost all power to my passenger side door controls. From the first... day I asked to be put in a loaner vehicle because I assumed the problem would take long to resolve. I asked twice about it and felt as though I got the run around. The problem took 5 days to resolve and I was left without transportation. In the meantime nobody contacted me to let me know they had a vehicle available for me to use. I get there to pick up my car and I'm waiting over 30 minutes because apparantly they can't find my keys. I finally get my vehicle and an hour later my check engine light comes back on. I call about 3 times to let them know my issue was not resolved and an hour later I get a call back. I explained the issue again and they offered to help me out but no loaner until a later date. After all these headaches I will be taking my business to a dealership that's better managed with technicians that can better diagnose. This is the second time I bring them a problem and I leave without it being fixed properly. Note to management : 1) Fix the loaner issue even if you have to use a rental car company like other dealerships use. 2) Have technicians do a thorough investigation of the vehicle to ensure that nothing else is wrong with the car or that the vehicles problem doesn't come back after driving it a few miles.
Went in to lease a new vehicle this past weekend with my wife. After a nice test drive we started to negotiate. After the normal back and fourth we talked... with Marcus (a manager) and agreed on a monthly payment, down payment, and implied purchase price (for tax purposes). After we agreed and got to the finance desk, everything went downhill. They tried to bait and switch us on the implied purchase price (showed MSRP for tax purposes which made our monthly payment higher by $20/month than what was agreed to). When called out, Marcus played dumb and then ran away/refused to correct it. Then it was communicated that there is a mandatory maintenance package that is more than just an oil change, required to be performed at a VW dealership once a year, regardless of mileage. This required service was not communicated during negotiations and costs nearly $1000 over a 3 year lease, upping the agreed upon monthly payment again by another $20. Marcus was again called out on withholding this information, this time by his own employee (finance manager). During our time in the dealership, it was also observed that the General Manager (GM) was nasty and berated employees in front of customers, and refused to help his employees when they were overwhelmed with too many customers. All around, will most certainly NOT be recommending VW of Downtown Chicago to anyone. A disappointing experience that perpetuates the stereotype of car dealerships being a terrible place to do business with.
What this dealership did to me seems criminal. I came in to test drive some cars because a few days later I had my buy back appointment for my TDI. I couldn't... pay for the new car until I had the buy back money. Of course they say "no problem! drive the car home and bring the check when you have it!" It was creepy how easily it was when I drove away in my brand new car, and they kept my old Jetta TDI. What I didn't realize at the time, was that all this paperwork the woman from finance SHOWED me, was actually put through. It was about $3,500 of extra crap I didn't want and never signed for. Additionally, she had me sign a "backup" finance agreement, saying this will only be used if I don't show up with the check to pay the full amount of the car. I said several times, "I'm paying cash, not financing." And she said that this contract would be torn up once I pay in cash. About 5 days later, I'm there for my buy back appointment. She put that "backup" contract through. For the wrong amount. After I get my first bill, I call them and tell them it's the wrong amount. She tells me it takes 4 weeks for the cancellation of those extra add ons, and it'll show up on my next bill. I received my second bill this morning, and it's still the wrong amount. At this point I've already paid hundreds in interest, and am about to just bite the bullet and pay the few thousand extra just to be done with it. It's unbelievable what these people can get away with. They give you keys to a shiny new car, talk really fast, crack jokes, and throw a bunch of papers in your face to send you on your merry way. It's a total scam. Do not go here to buy a car.
I called to purchase 4 tires. I was given a price of $300 more than Costco. I asked why? They informed me all the tires come with hazard insurance. I said... I don't want it. They said go buy the tires elsewhere. I will.
RUN away from this place as fast as you can. We purchased a used Jetta from VW Downtown Chicago and a just few days after our purchased found out the... heater did not work. We called assuming they would stand behind the vehicle and they basically told us it was our fault for buying the car and not buying the extended warranty from them. The car needs $600 repairs to fix the heater, so we paid over $14,000 for a car with no heat. The only option they gave us was to trade it in a new vehicle. We assumed since we bought from a VW dealership they would be reputable, however this place is the shadiest place I’ve encountered in 20 years. The manager Marcus was very arrogant and offered no apology or solutions except a new purchase (umm I bought a used car for a reason it's my 3rd used jetta) sales people were nice and in a sad position and had no control over finding anything in inventory. We called for an appointment to see the car we saw on the website, they showed us everything but the first time we were there, they showed us cars that were not detailed, one with snow tires on that drove horrendously and one they couldn’t even sell because it was a leased returned car. So we wasted 3 hours on a Saturday without seeing the car we had made the apt to see and were assured it would be waiting for us to see. When we came back Monday they did have the car, however the car was advertised as having 36,000 miles on the site, it actually had 86,000. We finally purchased the car and then found out days later the heat was not working. After reviewing sale paperwork even the odometer reading was listed incorrectly as having the 36,000 miles. (May I refer to my shady comment again)? We also contacted VW and complained and they even apologized profusely for the place and our experience. We feel that this dealership sold us this vehicle knowing that the heater did not work. Left a message for the General Manager Jason H, however apparently he is unable to return a call because he never replied. I have never has had such a horrendous experience with purchasing any vehicle as VW Downtown Chicago. I would highly recommend not even getting near this place, unless you really enjoy being taken advantage of. But I guess they assume hey It’s Chicago yeah no one needs a car here that has a working heater!!
The sales manager, Raphael Ferrer, at this dealer should not be allowed to work with members of the public. We could not agree on a trade-in value for... me car and he got visually upset at me. Upon asking me: "do we have a deal or not" , I said no and at this he tore up my credit application and his trade-in document and stormed out of the sales person's office shaking his head. I am a die-hard VW fan and this sort of thing hurts the brand image. Be VERY aware of there discounts on offer. They recover this by offering poor trade-in values as I have experienced. I would not recommend this dealer to any one. It is by far the worst dealer experience I have ever had over the last 20 years of VW and BMW ownership.
My salesperson Karen was extremely helpful from start to finish, as were the managers Raphael and Rubin. I live in TN, and flew to Chicago to pick up... the car. Karen even picked me up from the airport. Even though I was a little tired from the flight, I didn't feel pressured into anything, and knew what the pricing details were going to be ahead of time, which is a relief, especially when investing in a plane ticket. I just finished driving back home, and am excited to have been able to deal with FJVW, and look forward to driving my VW for many years. I only give the facilities a 4 because they were limited in their refreshment offerings, and had no snacks. Other VW dealerships that I've visited have had a pretty wide assortment of drinks and snacks.
We had a verbal agreement for a car & price on the phone in the afternoon of day one, with an appointment made for the following day at 12:30. I travel... to the dealer for my appointment and the car is sold. Okay, that's fine because I did not put down a deposit. My problem is that they did not call or email me to tell me that the car had been sold. I took public transportation there because I intended to drive my new car home, so this was a major inconvenience and waste of my time. In the future, I will not deal with Fletcher Jones Chicago.
