I genuinely feel as though this was the worst possible

I genuinely feel as though this was the worst possible experience we could have had and it swayed us away from purchasing a Volvo because this was the only convenient location near us for service and we knew we never wanted to come back. Our salesperson did not introduce himself and we only later found out his name (Boris) when the car broke down (would not go over 9mph) during the test drive and we had to call the dealership while we were pulled over on the side of the highway to explain what was happening and have troubleshooting assistance. We were told this happens all the time and that it’s because it had been sitting on the lot. We almost got into a couple of accidents during this time and someone tried to run us off the road for going so slow. The car had no fuel at all and was still wrapped in plastic all over the seats. No one walked us through the features or anything and he didn’t offer to come with us on the test drive. Furthermore they lost my husband’s drivers license. We wanted to go home so desperately after this experience but our salesperson couldn’t find the license. Finally he found it and blamed losing it on us. AVOID this place at all costs. We will never ever forget this experience.

Dealer response

We are sorry to hear about your experience with us. We understand that your time and money are valuable and we always try our best to give each customer what they want and need. We always try to figure out the issue and fix it as best we can even with confusing issues such as this one. We do not catch everything but certainly try to. We are doing the best we can, and we appreciate your input. On a side note, our salesperson did not have control of the loss of power, I am sure he was frustrated too, he had nothing to gain in this situation, unfortunately covid messed up the supply chain and we cannot see issues when it comes to the quality of the first test drive. many of these vehicles need software updates, and once done are absolutely fabulous! We do wish you good fortune with whatever vehicle you have chosen, but we do ask you to understand the unforeseen issues that could not have been avoided and for those that could have...I do apologize greatly. Emilio Locilento General Sales Manager

Consumer response

While I do appreciate the response, the true root of concern was not what happened but rather the way these challenging issues that arose were handled - entirely lacking empathy and playing the blame game on the customer. I work in sales and this will absolutely be a teaching moment that lives on in my training of others for years to come.

AWFUL...Avoid service if you can. Horrible behind the desk customer service as well as the service mgr. Spoke to this dealership about an issue regarding a part that went bad early(usually around 100k miles) this one went at 54K. They wanted nothing to do with reaching out to Volvo to try and help the situation. Spoke with 3 Volvo mechanics who said they have never seen this part go bad before 80-85k miles. Again the service mgr wanted nothing to do with getting in touch with Volvo to discuss. the charge was 850$ to which an employee told me well, its an expensive car...LOL. its not actually an expensive car- AVOID- Thise dealership 7 miles from me and i now drive about 25 miles for much better service.

Tried three times to contact them through their website email form to ask a simple question about service on our XC90. Never received any response, except their automated acknowledgment of my inquiry.

Thank you to Mr. Jasmin Serifija

I would like to thank Mr. Jasmin Seifija for an extremely satisfying buying experience. From a 1978 Volvo Diplomat to now my new 2021 XC60 (my eighth) Volvo, this has been my best transaction to date. Both my wife and I have had our Volvo's service at Danvers for years and I want to thank both Gladys behind the service desk and Mr. Kamal. A great team! Thank you. John S. Anderson

Find another dealership

I'd give zero stars if possible. Once you agree to buy a car there, they stop treating you with any professional service. They are disorganized and disinterested. Communication is terrible, be prepared to chase everyone down. I will never go back there again.

Great experience here at Volvo Danvers! Boris was personable, professional and knowledgeable with product. Excellent selection of cars, smooth financing and registration process too. Would recommend to friends and family!

Sales guy (Boris)has very little knowledge about the inventory and wasn't able to answer many questions. Lot of information is confided about the pre-owned cars so one has to be very careful before getting stuck with this dealership as a whole. The sales person especially is only behind pushing out the cars no matter what, he don't know anything about the basic Infotainment, navigation and the worst part is he is given the job of selling one of the sophisticated piece of machine which has many elements pivotal to driving.i went to volvo only get a better experience overall but I ended up buying headache at an exorbitant price. Volvo xc60 2018 I purchased not even 2 weeks old already gave me all sorts of stress ,I was pushed back and forth between the dealership and volvo hq newjersey for following up issues regarding display unit which controls most of core functionality of the car and wifi being one of them and auto start stop option which actually not optional but default feature . The wifi connection is erratic may or may not work ,the center display takes a while to boot and sometimes it gets stuck with a blank display. Overall I feel cheated in this deal please very careful before venturing your car buying plans at this dealership

I purchased a low mileage XC-90 3 years (not from this dealership) from a Volvo dealership that closed. Amongst several quality issues I have had with that car (they have terrible reliability ratings I have subsequently learned), the AC never really worked and soon became non-existent. I tried multiple times to get it fixed at this dealership and never even got to the point where the issue was diagnosed, let alone fixed. One time a tech told me there was nothing wrong with it. As its the only Volvo dealer remotely close to me I just tried to give it one more shot, the answer $325 to refill the AC, then they diagnose (maybe, although no guarantees and their track record is poor,) then they fix, which may or may not be covered under our extended warranty. I know there millions of very happy Volvo drivers out there, but if you get a bad car (review their reliability ratings before buying) you can get stuck in an expensive time consuming death spiral of bad service and no fixes. This has been hands down the worst car ownership experience I have ever had and I HATE dealing with this particular dealership.

Best Car Buying Experience Ever!

I had the best buying experience at Volvo Village of Danvers MA. The 2 salespeople I worked with Michelle and Jasmin(Jazz) were outstanding and a pleasure to work with Michelle went to incredible lengths to put me in touch with the car I was interested in. She answered all of my questions about costs, discounts, etc... and validated all of my concerns especially with the available financing options. Jazz was able to transfer all the information needed to make an absolutely incredible deal. I loved my conversations with Michelle and the stress free signing of the paperwork with Jazz. Their bringing the car to NH for registration was quick and easy and also a another great part of the car buying experience. I highly recommend this team at Volvo of Danvers to anyone in the market for a new or used Volvo.
