Very Helpful, Very Fair, Very Honest

Buying a car from these guys is like buying a car from your favorite uncle. They will tell you what is wrong with it but won't sell you a ticking time bomb. You get what you pay for and the prices are very fair (compare their rock bottom pricing to large dealers and smaller independent dealers). Their NO NONSENSE approach saves everyone involved a lot of time. You are better off buying used four times from here than getting killed on depreciation from a new vehicle. Thanks Abe!!!

I am so grateful to both Abe & Kay for helping me through the process of buying my mother a safe/reliable car. After making an appointment with them (through the website) and discussing what I had in mind, Abe guided me in what he professionally thought was the best choice for her. Kay assisted me with getting all of the paperwork and financial matters taken care of discretely so that I could return on a different day and surprise my mother. As you can see, she really had no idea except that we were browsing for cars, until I handed her the keys. The personal service & patience with me was amazing as they truly cared to help me with my situation. I never felt rushed, the pricing of the car was very reasonable and the car is great! I do not think I would've had this experience if I went elsewhere to shop around for other used cars.

Cars are nothing like the pictures. Their cars are...

Cars are nothing like the pictures. Their cars are damaged and broken. Not to mention how dirty the vehicles are. They also tried to charge me $800 minimum for licensing, registration, and fees. That same day I went to a few others And there was not one place that did over $400 for that. There was a Nissan Altima I ended up looking at, and when they pulled it out for me to test drive. Once again the car did not look like the pictures and had a lot of damage. Which is funny for a vehicle with no damage reported. I decided to try the test drive anyways. Then the car would not even start. It took four attempts to jump start the car, then they replace the battery, and it still needed to be jump started to even get it to start. I drove it and it was okay, then when I got back I noticed there was an oil leak. Although this place is cheap, this place also lies and false advertises. The Unexplained fees, the fake pictures, the fake Carfax, the broken cars that don't start easily, and the fact that they're willing to sell you vehicles with broken windows and windshields or cracked ones. Which by the way it is illegal to drive. Do not go here, at least not without knowing that you are getting a cheap broken car that does need a lot of maintenance. And the vehicles are not as advertised. Please be safe and Smart Shop

Dealer response

The gall on some clients is truly unbelievable. Whats the world coming to... This customer showed up without an appointment, got upset that he had to leave to make an appointment and begged us to show him the car he came to see. When we discussed the budget before pulling out the car, we discovered that he is $500+ over budget, as he did not account for taxes and registration which are STANDARDIZED FEES, 9.5% tax, and whatever the DMV charges for the renewal. We don't set them, we simply collect and submit the the proper agency, like every legal CA dealer. So we found a car that was in his budget, explained to him that the car will be dirty and dusty BECAUSE HE MADE NO APPT, and he wanted to see it anyway. We explained the the crack on the window will be replaced at no cost at our local windshield shop, as we do with EVERY CAR that has a cracked window. The reason the car would not start is because they turned the car off after being instructed to let it run for a few minutes to let the battery charge. We never replaced the battery, he is delusional. Unfortunately, crazy people can leave the same reviews as sane people. It is a truly sad world we live in, and we are glad to have been kept in business for the past 14 years (and counting), by sane and normal people coming and having a great experience. It is those who cannot read, cannot understand simple directions, and then have an overwhelming sense of entitlement that will be truly disappointed with us and leave us the reviews like the ones you see above. Good day!

Consumer response

It is very said how a deal is willing to lie and degrade other people instead of owning up to there poor practices. I showed up with out an appointment as I saw the advertisement on a website that did not say I needed one. I understand the exterior being a little dirty for a dealer being in a dirt parking lot, BUT not the interior being discussing. When It come to the damage on the car, you guys are a bunch of liars. There was tiny bit of damage show in the picture, but the cars I saw had extreme damage everywhere in and out of the car. You are also outright lying when you said you explained the damage , you guys barely talked to me. You gave me and my family the computer with 4 cars on it that looked like they were in good condition. WE looked at the cars and the told you witch ones we would like to see. All was said is we will go get them for you. These were FAKE pictures that looked nothing like the actual car. ALSO you are lying about the issue with the car not starting. It wouldn't do xxxx when you turn the key at all, you guys couldn't even get it to work. They ended up bringing us a new batter that they sill had to jump start. DID you know the moment any of your clients drive the car off your lot with a cracked front window, they can get a ticket in California. I brought $3500 cash in $100 bills and then you guys let me see the cars, You said I would not be able to get any of the $2700-$3000 cars I was looking at because of taxes and fees. You told me cost for taxes and fees would be around $800 which is just a scam and 9.5% tax does not even come close to that cost. I was forced to look at cars in the low $2000 range because of there fraud and greed. It is truly sad that and professional business are willing to lie, degrade there costumers, and call them crazy when they simply speak honestly about your bad business practices. Just own up to your bad practices and do better, or stay the same. Its up to you. I am not telling you how to do your job, lying is your job. Your company sell really cheep cars to people on a budget, no one expects a perfect car, But they do expect a legal and safe car. I am just calling you out for your bad and inappropriate business practices in hopes you will do better. Knowing you guys, nothing will happen because you can't except criticism for xxxx. Every person that has given your company a low star review. You respond by lying and insulting them, instead of being professional and apologize for the inconvenience and say we hope to do better. It makes you guys look better that way. I'm sorry you have to live with yourself, hope you don't breed. Good day!

NEW CAR JUST GOT IT FINANCED!!!

Just got my new car financed! Was unsure about buying from a used car dealer because of bad experiences I had in the past. Six years ago I was sold a lemon and when trying to come after the dealership that sold me the vehicle they up and left their business before I had someone from consumer affairs get in contact with them. When I came across Starfire Auto something about their website caught my attention. They run their business with a high level of integrity and service. They provided and extensive amount of details about each car you’re coming to see. I got my pre approval prior to coming in and it was an easy process. This makes sense! 3 years ago at the Honda dealership in Valencia they put me in a car that I didn’t end up getting approved for and they made me take the car back, what a head ache! Here I got the approval I needed ahead of time, bought my car and drove it home. Thank you guys for such an incredible experience! Looking forward to more business in the future!

Pre approval mandatory!

I had an appointment all set up with Starfire and they refused to let me see the truck unless I came in preapproved. I did not want to sing my credit with a preapproval unless I was sure I was going to buy with them. They insisted so they lost a customer and a possible sale! I would recommend going somewhere else as it seemed like a pressure tactic!!! Be warned!

Dealer response

Pressure tactic? Its hard to control what might appear to be an aggressive reply when dealing with people like this, so for that, our apologies. But this customer lacks simple comprehension skills, and basic reasoning. Our cars are all older with higher miles. Financing them is hard, even with an 800 score. As such, we require a financing pre-approval, NOT from us, but from ANY bank so that we know the buyer is ABLE to buy the car should they choose to. If not, you can use this approval at any other dealer. Any serious buyer (and not a tire kicker...) would have this approval and be ready to go. This is what we tried to explain to this customer and he simply does not understand. Beyond that, we showed the car anyway, and guess what? Yep, a tire kicker... Yet again, this was the WORST experience? Did we sell you a bad car? Nope. You dont understand the reasons behind simple policies yet you choose to lower the rating of a well established business. We are happy to "lose" such customers and such "possible sales". Good luck on your search...
