Service department are deceptive
Took my car to Academy Ford for a battery since I knew I needed a new battery. I previously went to auto zone and they informed me I had a 0 amps on my battery. Called to make an appointment the previous Saturday and was told I had an 84mth battery by the person who looked up my account and he sent me to parts since I wanted to know more specifics of the battery so I can comparison shop. That’s when I was told it was under warranty by parts and to make an appointment with service since it was still under warranty, we had to go through warranty and service department therefore; I had to make an appointment. They didn’t have anything available until Thursday or Friday. I told them I will drop off car Thursday night and they can work on it Friday 8/24/18. I told the advisor it was the battery, since I was already told this by autozone, and told him the same thing and since it was going through warranty I don’t know if it is different criteria but a diagnostic fee of 125 was told to us but said if they find anything that fee WILL BE REMOVED. Today 8/24 they called me and told me I was going to be charged $300+ for a battery and diagnostic!!! When I asked the advisor why am I being charged for diagnosis since they found what it was., The battery, and if battery was supposed to be covered under warranty why am I being charged for this? He said he didn’t know it was the battery and if he did he wouldn’t have charged the diagnostic fee and only the battery fee. AGAIN I TOLD HIM BEFOREHAND IT WAS THE BATTERY BECAUSE I WENT TO AUOZONE AND TOLD HIM IT HAD ZERO AMPS. He had repeated this to me in our conversation but when I called him out on it he said he didn’t remember this!!! How convenient for him to “forget” even though he had just said it 20 seconds before.!!!They want to charge $125 to check to see if it was the battery when it was and had previously told them. Plus the cost of the battery which I was told beforehand that it was an 84month battery and should be covered under warranty. That was the ONLY reason I went to the dealership since I bought the car from there and again since I was told it was covered under warranty why wouldn’t I take it there?! I wouldn’t have wasted my time going there if I knew they were going to try to charge me $300+ to change a battery and for a “diagnostic fee”!!! They are LIARS AND THIEVES!!!! Don’t go there!!!!! I will NEVER buy another car from Academy Ford, even though I have bought 2 before . We were going to buy another one but that experience was so bad we didn’t. Brent the manage reached out to me afterward and apologized on his salesperson behalf which I appreciated. For the service department they are horrible and again liars and have selective memory. T

Deceptive service department
The service department are liars and have highly deceptive practices. I was told my battery was under warranty since I was told I have an 84mth battery by academy ford and therefore set an appointment to change my battery. I took my car 8/23 late drop off since my appt was for 8/24. Told the advisor it was the battery since I had already gone to autozone and they told me I had zero amps in the battery. Again told the advisor this but because it was going through warranty he said I will not be charged the $125 diagnostic fee if they found something. Got a call 8/24 and was told they going to charge me $300 for a diagnostic fee and for the battery!!! I asked them why am I being charged this if the battery was under warranty and since they found something when they did the diagnostic and surprise it was the battery why am I being charged the diagnostic fee?? He said he doesn’t remember me telling him it was the battery even though he had repeated it 20seconds before me telling him what autozone said and then said he doesn’t remember saying that..... Selective memory!!! They will lie to you to your face and then say they didn’t say that and then want to charge you a RIDICULOUS amount for something they say they will not charge you for!!!! I DO NOT recommend academy ford service department. They are liars and have highly deceptive practices!!!
