We recently visited House of Imports in Buena Park after

We recently visited House of Imports in Buena Park after finding a great deal online for a vehicle for my son. Before making a purchase, we connected a diagnostic monitor to check for any hidden issues—just to be safe. The monitor flagged a P06DA00 fault code, which points to an electrical issue with the oil pump control circuit. While the car still ran, this issue could potentially lead to long-term engine damage if not addressed. We immediately asked the sales associate, Rick, if he could speak with their service department to see if they could fix the issue. We told him clearly that if they fixed it, we’d come back and buy the vehicle. Two days went by, with us following up repeatedly. Eventually, Rick responded and said, “Unfortunately, we cannot fix the issue. I hope you find the right car for your son.” I’m sorry—how is a Mercedes-Benz dealership, the size and status of House of Imports, unable or unwilling to fix an issue with a Mercedes-Benz vehicle? That makes absolutely no sense. So instead, they’d rather sell a car with a known issue to someone else? And to be honest, Rick was unhelpful from the start. He barely spoke, didn’t walk us through the vehicle, didn’t ask questions, didn’t explain features—nothing. He opened the car, stood back, and let us figure it out ourselves. For someone in sales, that kind of attitude says a lot. It felt like we weren’t taken seriously from the moment we walked in. Do better, House of Imports. This experience was incredibly disappointing—both in terms of customer service and basic accountability. If you expect transparency and a dealership that stands behind its vehicles, this isn’t it.

Initial Contact I first reached out to David via email regarding the purchase of a vehicle but never received a response. I then forwarded the same message to Jane C., who replied within 30 minutes. Jane, along with Tommy, was helpful in providing an overview of the available inventory and promptly scheduled an appointment for Saturday at 10 a.m. First Visit I arrived at the dealership 15 minutes early. Upon entering the lobby, I was met by two individuals at the receptionist desk. Unfortunately, there was no greeting or acknowledgment—just silent stares. When I asked for Jane, they simply pointed toward an office without saying a word. I approached the office and was warmly welcomed by Jane. Jane then introduced me to Alexis, a sales associate who assisted with the test drive and lease discussions. The deal I received was reasonable—comparable to other local Mercedes-Benz dealerships, though not particularly exceptional. Sales Experience Alexis was exceptionally helpful and friendly throughout the process. She went above and beyond by coordinating test drives, clearly explaining the vehicle’s features, and helping set up the iPhone app connectivity. Her professionalism and upbeat demeanor made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. Service I returned later to have the front license plate bracket installed, and that visit was just as seamless. The service was quick and hassle-free. I appreciated the efficiency and follow-through from the team. Finance Tim T., the finance representative, was quite persistent in promoting various service packages I hadn’t planned on purchasing. I declined most of them, but he continued to offer alternatives and ultimately proposed a basic three-year service plan at a fair price. While I recognized his patience and negotiation skills, I believe the dealership could benefit from a less aggressive upselling approach to make the process more comfortable for customers. Coffee Machine While waiting, I attempted to use the self-serve coffee machine, which wasn’t functioning due to a full used-coffee bin. After reading the error message, I emptied the bin myself and disposed of the contents in a nearby trash can. Once cleared, the machine worked, and others were able to enjoy coffee. This is a small detail, but maintaining amenities like this would contribute to a better overall customer experience. Overall Atmosphere The overall mood at the dealership felt subdued and somewhat unwelcoming. While certain individuals like Jane and Alexis provided excellent service, there’s definitely room for improvement in creating a more engaging and customer-friendly environment.

I can’t say enough good things about House of Imports.

I can’t say enough good things about House of Imports. Dietrich Gumbrecht was my sales man and he was amazing. The most patient, understanding, kind and knowledgeable man I’ve ever purchased a car from. He literally helped me achieve my dream car despite the hurdles I was encountering. I got more than I was looking for in a used vehicle and the car has already caught the eyes of many onlookers. Dietrich made the entire process a breeze, I wanted to cry happy tears when he congratulated me. His coworker Yasser was also very welcoming and helpful. He finished the deal with the delivery of the vehicle and made sure that I knew all the features of the vehicle. Definitely going to send friends and family to House of Imports for vehicle purchases. Also, I bring my vehicle to House of Imports for service and my service advisor Jung Wa (Jane) is a real treasure as well. Thank you everyone!
