Write a reviewMy opinion, bait and switch going on here.
In my opinion, this dealership is using bait and switch tactics to get you in to their dealership. I had a coupon from McGrath Nissan for a $29.99 synthetic blend oil change. When I arrived for my appointment, Joe, in the non-service Dept. advised me that my coupon wasn’t good for my car. The coupon had the last six digits from my VIN number on it. I then called McGrath Nissan and spoke to a supposed Mgr. He agreed with Joe giving me some lame excuse for the coupon. I am in the market for a new SUV, but not from McGrath Nissan. My last three out of four vehicles have been Nissans. I guess it’s worth losing a sale of a new SUV FOR $30.00 to McGrath Nissan.

The coupon Roel came in with clearly states it is for a synthetic blend oil change and that full 5w30 synthetic is higher in the same size writing as the list of items included in the service and directly below the offer details, the information is not hidden or difficult to read. Picture of coupon available. Our goal is never to deceive our customers, the coupon language has not been confusing for others coming in with it, we're sorry there was confusion in this case, but we made the information available and clear as best we could.
Beware Price Gouging
11/6/21 I called to inquire on 2021 Nissan Maxima 40th edition. Asked for DeShawn b/c I was interested in a 2020 the prior yr. The 2021 is priced for around $45895 on web site. I asked to make an offer $42895. DeShawn then says, well there is a current markup due to inflation of $2750 making the car around $48000. We argued back and forth R/T to a chip shortage causing the price to be marked up...The Manager then gets on the phone saying; "This is my store and I can can increase the price how every I choose. Read the disclaimer. And have a good day." 1st the car is advertised as brand new. It currently has over 5k miles which is no longer a new car. It's unfortunate that this car dealership will lose a sale because of ego. This will be forward to Nissan as to how their brand is represented.

Hi Amia, in the current market, with shortages on chips and other parts, the supply and demand of vehicles has drastically changed this year. Because the supply of vehicles is so low every region has had to adjust the Manufacturer's Suggest Retail Price (MSRP) to reflect the reality of this supply shortage. That specific Maxima is a demo which means it has been driven by a manager, but has never been titled and still falls under the same programs and warranties as brand new Nissans, many people prefer purchasing demos because any possible initial issues usually pop up in those first 5,000 miles and we will have already taken care of it at the dealership. While I do apologize that you felt mistreated we are at the mercy of the supply shortage and do our best to be honest with our clients and not waste anyone's time, which is why they discussed the additional costs with you on the phone instead of springing them on you when you arrived. We hope you find the right vehicle for you at the right price.
Bought 2 cars all was good
I was looking for a Vehicle because my trans had recently went out when I went the first time I had got a car the first day I was in I felt as if I was was being kinda rushed but it was all good I took the car but there was no inspection done to it they had just got it in. So when I took it home I realized there was some issues with my car and had brought it back the next day they took in the car inspected it and said that that car wouldn’t last me and we got to looking for another vehicle I got the car I was looking for now I just want more speed over all good customer service would recommend!!

Deceptive sales tactics
Visited this dealer on 9/28/19 to check out an 06 Xterra. Met with a young salesman and took it for a test drive. We returned to the dealer and I was giving it a good look over , when another sales person came and asked if we were done because she had a customer that wanted to drive it. I found that kind of unprofessional, but whatever. I decided I liked the vehicle so I made an offer. We went inside, and my salesman said they couldn't go any lower on the price. So I asked what the total out the door price would be? He came back with a total of over 1500 more than the asking price! Tax title license and doc fee should of been maybe 600. When I asked why it's so much he said it was a dealer prep and inspection fee. I was ready to walk, but he went back to his manager and came back and said his manager was just messing with him and showed me a paper with a bunch of numbers scribbled down, but the price didn't change. He now said it was 400 for the 3 month 3000 mi Warranty and 300 for the prep fee. I thanked him for his time and left. Their cars.com ad did not state any of this, in fact it does say 3 month 3000 mile Warranty with every used car. Not, you have to buy the warranty! And there is no mention of any inspection or prep fees either. I expect tax, title license and doc fees, this is just another tactic to try and confuse the consumer and make a profit. These are the kind of things you expect from those little no name dealers, not a big dealer like this! If it wasnt for the fees and the game playing I probably would of bought the car, but oh well.

Rude and unprofessional sales representatives
McGrath Nissan "Elgin" Sales people are very rude - unprofessional. Selling is not for everyone, they must review the hiring criteria or how the business is being run. I had a call with one of their sales representatives called "Sam", I was asking about 2019 Nissan Altima and told him if that car is available with $XXXX amount of dollars, he said YES, I asked him many times and made sure that I will not drive form more than an hour and he told me YES, just bring your down payment. I got shocked when I arrived their and found that the actual price is higher than we agreed by $6000. He told me that I said YES to let you come :) Most people think sales is easy. It's NOT. He even didn't say "Sorry" !!! They must respect us, we are not kids !

Hi Ehab, I've responded on the last few reviews with my contact information and hope you will please call me. We unfortuately don't have your phone or email but would like to make this right, Sam was used to the way he was taught to handle customers with his last dealership that does not fall in line with our customer service principles. He is no longer with our company but I have been working for my family for ten years and would like a chance to show you how we actually do business. Please call me or my dad when you can at 847-695-6700 -Mollie McGrath at McGrath Nissan or feel free to ask for Scott McGrath
Attention to detail lacking
Overall kind, but it has been a constant battle to get the proper paperwork and licensing I need for the vehicle. Purchased 1 month ago.

Wonderful Staff
Let's start off by saying that on Monday 4/10/2016 we traveled all over Elgin to different dealers to find the perfect vehicle for my boyfriend. McGrath Nissan was the 5th dealer we stopped at. When we arrived Jaw Stewart Promptly greeted us and asked us if we had any questions. We explained that we were not sure and if we could walk the lot. He told us which vehicles were used and which were new. We went off to look. Once we found some we went to him to ask prices and test drive one. He explained the cars features etc. then we went off for the drive. As we were driving we had questions on different parts on the vehicle and Jay did the best he could to answer them all with having a computer with more info in front of him. We got back to the dealer and explained that we didn't want to sit down and talk numbers and all that without my father being there to help us out. He understood and gave us his card to let him know when we would be stopping by with my dad. we shook hands and left. Few hours later we went back with my dad to test drive it again. Again Jay was very informative when my dad had questions for him as well. Which made my dad happy. Jay was not pushy and let us do the talking and explaining what would fit our budget and needs, instead of trying to push any vehicle on us to make a sale. We went back inside to to fill out the necessary paperwork and start on negotiation to take the car home. Once he was approved for the loan that's when the negotiations started. There was a bit of back and forth then Jeff Marcus the Used Car Manager came out to negotiate with my boyfriend. He was really easy to work with and made sure we had the price that was right for us so we didn't walk out empty handed. Jeff was also pleasant to work with. The final person we worked with to sign all the paper work with was the Finance Manager Mario Lopez. We had great conversations, He was easy to talk to. Explained everything and anything. Seriously helped my boyfriend out with an even better deal then what we walked in with. Helped that this was my boyfriends first time purchasing a vehicle by taking out a loan and we was great at explaining all the paper and the warranty etc. So from the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out we were handed with exceptional customer service. Everyone was super easy to work with and super easy to talk to when it came to concerns and questions. We couldn't have asked for a better dealership! After Monday you guys have earned longtime customers. We will be returning in the future and making sure to mention to family and friends that McGrath Nissan in Elgin is the place to go for a vehicle!

I love McGrath Nissan in Elgin, Illinois
I got my new car almost a year ago at McGrath Nissan in Elgin. EVERYONE at the dealership was knowledgeable about their cars and ALL were very kind and professional. They worked with me to get the best deal that worked for me. I have had great service every time I go there. I go there often because they give free car washes when you buy a car from them and I am a really regular customer for that besides my regular check ups for my car. NO ONE in the service department have ever made me feel like I am being a bother when I come in for my car wash. This dealership has their act together and they know how to treat a customer. I would recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a car and I have done so.

Easy to work with and accomodating
Although our sales person was new, he did a good job of taking care of us. And if he wasn't certain about something, he found someone who had answers. They gave us a very reasonable deal on a new Murano Platinum. The sales manager was very accomodating and we didn't feel pressured. Overall we were very pleased and happy with our purchase. They even let us have pizza they ordered for the employees, since were famished by 2pm. One our better car buying experiences.
