I purchased a used 2016 Nissan Pickup characterized as a “Unicorn” by my salesperson, Eric Burnheimer, backed up by General Sales Manager Christopher Genest, due to its condition and low mileage (just under 44k miles) and its “Certified Used” status and warranty. Taking it for test drive, I was impressed and noticed that a set of very nice WeatheTech floor mats were installed. There was also a large packet which contained the warranty and certified program information. After being kept for over 5 hours of the back and forth and “let me go check on this” routines, in which never once were the floor mats discussed and the “exhaustive” certified inspections that were done to make sure the truck was a “unicorn “ we finally came to an accord and arrangements were made to come back with my trade and allow for them to detail the truck. Happy with my new purchase, I headed home and immediately had to go to out of state to help take care of our elderly mother twice in March and April; about a 260-mile round trip. On returning near the expiration of my temporary plates, I went to South Portland city hall to register my truck. While standing in line, I had a chance to really study the line-by-line sales agreement to notice that I had been charged $450.00 for floor mats…you know, the floor mats that had already been IN the car before I took it for a test drive and of which no mention was made of any kind of the mats being an option or additional cost! The additional indignity to this bait and switch was the fact that not only was I going to pay tax on these floor mats, but they had also been worked into the loan so now I’ll also be paying interest on them. I figure that if they had also soaked me for undercoating and clearcoat, they both would have hit the 1975 hall of fame hat trick for the shady salesperson of yore. I then noticed that none of the paperwork on the warranty or certified used coverage was nowhere to be found in the vehicle after getting it home. I utilized the help of the Maine Attorney General’s Office Consumer Law Guide and sent a letter by email to both Eric Burnheimer and Christopher Genest specifically describing the issue the remedy sought, the paperwork that was removed prior to accepting the truck and a clearly specific request for a written response; neither of which I ever received. I did get a call from Eric Burnheimer which I had not asked for instead of a written response. I have been working with a local law firm since to try and find relief. Fast forward to this Thursday while I was at least getting a free oil change at the dealership….another humble brag of Berlin City of free changes for a year….on checking out, I was advised both rear axle seals and bearings would need to be replaced as they were leaking “heavily”….something that was not identified on the sterling inspection I was presented with on purchasing the truck. Although I was promised full coverage through the certified used program, and because the paperwork and warranty information was removed before I took owenerahip and never provided as asked, it was certainly convenient that my mileage of 53 thousand miles just put me out of coverage and the entire repair would be out of pocket for a tidy sum of $3,872.00. To add insult to injury, my salesperson Mr. Burnheimer was helping a nice elderly women get her car serviced (who knows at what cost) and wouldn’t even make eye contact as he could certainly hear the conversation taking place between the service rep and I. Now I have a truck that is not fit to drive at a time I can’t be without one, you know, because someone has to pay for those floor mats….and travel to Massachusetts to provide family medical care. This experience has, by far, been the single worst experience in a dealership and car purchase ever. Frankly, I would r

Made false claims about inventory, told me to come in for a test drive of a Tesla they claimed was on the lot. When I arrived they said it was no longer available when I told them I was paying cash.

Over the course of an hour claimed to have sold the vehicle, clearly wanted to get me in the door with a fake bargain. When asked why the inferior cars in inventory were 3k more have pedantic response, clearly staff was lying
Hannah was amazing.
Hannah was amazing. The group there made financing painless and fair with an APR I could live with. 5 stars.

We were searching for a new SUV with AWD before winter
We were searching for a new SUV with AWD before winter and this is easier said than done. Most dealerships have no SUV's available without being placed on a multiple month wait list. The crew at Berlin City let us know that there was an available Nissan Rogue in New Hampshire and had it shipped up to us that day! Best price for what you get we are very happy with the vehicle so far, drives great and has a lot of safety features standard. Again, the staff at Berlin City made sure we got what we wanted and were very helpful and friendly. Would recommend them to friends and family.

The folks at Berlin City Nissan of Portland could not
The folks at Berlin City Nissan of Portland could not have been more helpful. From the moment we walked into the dealership until the moment we drove our newly leased Kicks home we were treated with a welcoming, knowledgeable and honest experience. We love the car.

Thank you Bob for the five stars! Have a great day!
Needed a replacement key made.
Needed a replacement key made. Went to dealership which quoted me a $184 price, high but I agreed. Returned next day, TWO advisors cited the quoted price. When I was handed key it came with a $287 bill. They added $82 for labor “programming” the key. Sort of like agreeing to pay$40000 for a car, then arriving to pick it up now charged $42000 because of tires. They ripped me off before, swore off them but who could they rip someone off making a key. Pros can do anything. Stay away.

WHY did I ever return to this place again ?
Should have known better. These guys attempted to rip me off a few years ago but needed a replacement key fast. How could they rip me off making a key? Well, they are PROS doing that ! Quoted $184+ and made appt following day. Got key made and handed a bill for $279. They added $82 labor for 'programming' the key ?? Sort of like agreeing to build a new garage for $30,000 and upon completion given a bill for $50K citing "labor". Should have walked OUT the door (again) leaving the key, but paid. I will never walk back INTO the den of thieves again and will let as many people as I can know about this dealership's continued shady operations in the service department

Good morning and thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Please let me elaborate on the situation that happened so this review can be more accurate. You came in and asked for a quote on a key, our Advisor gave you the quote plus he mentioned we needed to program the key, (why else would we make you an appointment). You came in for your appointment and you were very pleasant to work with as you and our new Advisor had some good conversation about football. When the time came to pay and we told you it was $184 plus the labor to program your key, you got extremely hostile and started calling our Advisor a "scumbag" and that we are ripping you off and you will never be back. (Which is good because I wouldn't want your business after that) We need to program the key to your vehicle in order for it to work, I apologize if you didnt understand that but without us programming it, its basically just a paper weight. I hope you enjoy your week and you treat people with a little more respect. Kevin St Jock Service Manager
