Pine Belt Chevrolet lost my easy, slam dunk sale this
Pine Belt Chevrolet lost my easy, slam dunk sale this week because of their decision not to work with a customer who needed a favor. Here's why... I arrived shortly after they opened in search of a base model Chevy Equinox EV and was ready to start the deal there and then if the right car and deal could be made. The only caveat: I had just applied for the $4k Charge Up NJ incentive the day before and it was going to take a few days for the approval to go through. However, since my wife had just received the same incentive less than a year earlier on the same make and model (and none of the qualifying parameters had since changed), it was a veritable certainty that my approval would go through. My wife's approval took about three days so I figured if I found the car I wanted I'd put down a deposit until the approval came through then finish the deal thereafter. Upon speaking to the salesperson at the front desk and saying up front that I wasn't kicking tires and intended to buy a car, I was quickly told in no uncertain terms that what I was looking for was 1) impossible to find and 2) that anyone who said that they had one was lying(!). Since I already knew that the base models could be hard to find (difficult...not impossible), I took them at their word, switched gears and asked what they had on then lot in the next higher trim level. They showed me a beautiful white Equinox EV that I was ready to sit in, test drive and very likely purchase on the spot. That was, until they told me that they wouldn't allow me to put down a deposit to hold the car for me while I was waiting for the incentive to be approved (which they said could take up to a week.) That being the case, I had no reason to stick around since even if I found the car I wanted, Pine Belt wouldn't do anything to help me hold on to it. It was their decision to make and I respect that but it ended up costing them my business. I left disappointed and a bit irked by their lack of willingness to work with me. So I drove a few minutes down the road to Lester Glenn Chevrolet, who was only too happy to work with me. They couldn't have been more helpful, pleasant and cooperative. Not only were they able to locate the car I wanted, they had no problem getting the ball rolling while I was waiting for my NJ incentive approval. The approval came through the following day and I'll be taking possession of my shiny, new 2025 Chevy Equinox EV later this afternoon, no thanks to the short-sighted, service-averse folks over at Pine Belt Chevrolet. They lost a slam-dunk sale for a more expensive vehicle than I'd been looking for and I ended up doing business with a dealership that appreciated my business (as did several other customers I met that day at Lester Glenn, each of whom was there after having been turned off in one way or another by Pine Belt Chevrolet). As far as I'm concerned I dodged a bullet; if this the level of service I could have expected to receive from Pine Belt then I'm very happy indeed that they weren't willing to consider working with me. The people are very friendly. They have a good selection of new and per own vehicles. The pricing is better than most dealerships we visited.

With the purchase/lease of my 2024 Colorado it was
With the purchase/lease of my 2024 Colorado it was seamless. The sales person Todd Boucher was extremely helpful, took the time to answer my questions and explain the options of the vehicle so I could understand them. The insurance person and the finance person made the decisions easier than expected. Overall my experience was very good. I have encouraged family members to use Pine Belt Chevy in the past and will do so in the future.
