Bait and switch pricing
Kind of wondering if this business is running a scam or just really unethical? Recently was interested in a car but they increased the price last minute. Was a total waste of of my time off work. Talking to coworkers I guess this is the new scam places are running, listing a car then increasing the price usually with some story or excuse. Or promising repairs then backing out mid purchase agreement. If they are willing to be dishonest about the price it makes me wonder what else they will lie about with the car. Not a good car purchasing experience, I won't be frequenting this business in the future.

Dishonest, bad communication!
Steve is dishonest. Makes false promises about repairing a car before sale. After the sale, no follow-up calls about promised fixes EVEN when it is noted in the sale agreement. Just completely ignores you.

Best group of professionals around!
I had purchased a new rims and tires for my BMW, which I actually purchased from Automation. The rims were installed but would have fallen off in no time. When I stopped by, Paul practically finished what he was doing and went over to diagnosed what I had told him. He got in the car and took a test drive. Upon his return, he was able to reinstall my rims correctly with great confidence/skill. One of the nuts had already fallen off the rear wheel. He warned that all the wheels would have fallen off as I drove back home. Thanks for not letting me drive back home. You saved me a lot. Thanks a million, Paul!! Tarnue

Buyer Beware
Buyer Beware! My 20 yr. old Son bought his first car at Automotion just over a week ago. Steve Sherman knew that my Son was planning on driving the car back to school in Madison the day after purchase, and we were assured the car was ready for the trip. Our sales experience with Steve was positive, and he seemed like a trustworthy guy. My Son drove directly home after buying the car and parked it. When my husband came home he went out to see the car and noticed a bulge in the tire (which must have been there before). Unfortunately my Son and I didn’t examine the tires, but I would have hoped Steve or someone else had before selling it to my son knowing that he was going on a road trip. He could have had a blow out and consequent accident:( Thankfully my husband saw it and we had to have a new set of tires installed the next morning ( given it’s 4 wheel drive and the cheap tires on it were the wrong size). That cost us $567. I left a voicemail for Steve the night of the car purchase and have yet to hear back which is so disappointing. From a customer service perspective I would have hoped for a response, as well as offering a “good faith” reimbursement for at least part of the price of the bad tire. But instead he blew me off. So I’ve decided to warn others of purchasing cars there. And if you plan to do so have it thoroughly checked by an outside mechanic and check Carfax.

Not Honest or Trustworthy
The used car folks at Honda of Ames are not transparent, honest or accommodating in any way. I just drove 135 miles from Minneapolis to Mason City Iowa, enroute to Aimes and now I am turning around. It turns out that the car I intended to buy was not the deal that was stated on line. After multiple calls to assure that the car was in excellent condition, after all it was Honda Certified, I found out that it was not in the condition that was described. This was revealed to me after three days of conversation with the salesman. I called while just north of Mason city to ask to have the car put under cover so that I could view the body without obstruction from rain. This is when the sales person revealed that there were scratches that were touched up, and visible to a camera. The scratches could not be simply buffed out. I asked if he could make it right. He said that’s why the car was such a great value. In earlier phone conversations, he stated that it was a good value because they priced cars at great value as part of their business model, not because it had highly visible scratches that were touched up poorly. I noted that he did not reveal the body issues until I was well in to Iowa. And I was the one to imitate the call. I talked to he manager who was no help as well. He said that’s how they do business. He thought they were transparent because they told me about the scratches and sent photos to me after I had driven almost two hours. And, remember, I called them. I asked to have the price reduced to reflect the cost of repairs. The answer was no. He could not understand how they were not transparent by telling me that there were significant scratches after I had already driven 135 miles and previously confirmed with the sales person that the body was in excellent shape. I am shocked by how matter of fact they were about this situation. If that’s how they do business, I recommend steering clear of Honda of Ames.

Great service
I just bought my first car and it was totally painless! I was able to call and set up a time next day to see the car and Steve was very low-pressure. I pretty much knew that I wanted the car right away and the entire process was friendly and easy. I felt immediately at ease and confident in my purchase.

Great shopping experience!
We had a great time at Auto Motion recently while we were car shopping. We didn't end up buying a car here, but they were super accommodating and patient as we test drove a number of vehicles - even staying a bit after their close time to accommodate us. Even though it didn't work out this time, I will definitely keep them on the list for the next time. They had a number of quality used luxury cars, and a really great selection. Thanks!

Good experience
Bought a Mercedes after test drive. Fair price, Carfax provided. They even delivered the car so I would not have to go back with someone else.
