Dave sold me the most adorable used Mini Cooper! The car was in good shape and I got a fair price. Dave was very helpful and kind. I love my car!

Buyer beware
I drove my daughter from KY (3 hours away) to look at the blue Mazda 6 in mid April that's still there. It was going to be her first car. David seemed great although before our trip he had emailed my daughter a lesser price & then said it was a mistake & he wouldn't honor the price. We test drove the car and it made a strange ticking sound. Both our mechanic & my daughter's dad listened to it over the phone & both said it needed lifters. I took home a heartbroken daughter with no car, wasted an entire Saturday that cost me $70 in gas. David said he would have the car checked by a Mazda dealer and call us with an update. I told him we would still buy it if he had it fixed but we never heard from him again. Replacing lifters can be a big expensive job & not having it done will result in blown rods. Please beware!

Mrs. Carter, please allow me to express my apology for having disappointed you and your daughter, Grace. I am sorry. We take pride in our reputation as is evident from our other reviews and we never want someone to have a bad experience whether they purchase a car from us or not. Price is something we don't normally discuss online in emails, especially when we get a low offer, but I made an exception because of the distance. I did let Grace know as soon as I discovered I had made a mistake and prior to you actually visiting our dealership. I don't want there to be surprises for our customers when they get here. I did apologize then for my mistake and proposed a compromise. Our communication and potential transaction was a little out of the ordinary because of the involvement of a third party, your used car dealer friend in Kentucky, Scott, who you wanted to have purchase the car from us and then re-sell it to you. I also made Scott aware of the price error prior to your visit. He said he understood things like that happen and he would explain it to you. I know you said you had been shopping for a car for months and had traveled to a lot of dealers to look at cars so I do understand your frustration. The noise issue that developed with the car during your test drive was unusual as that car had already been to the Mazda dealer for a recall and given a clean bill of health. And, as is our practice, we had driven it over 150 miles to check it out. But, with a 160,000 mile car I am aware anything can happen and at any time. I am just glad it happened before you might have bought it and not afterwards. It is clear we had some misunderstandings, particularly when you explained that you were not going to be available for the next two weeks after visiting us. I thought, given the circumstances, if you were still interested after that then you would contact us. I just assumed you had finally found the car that was just right for your daughter. Again, I want to extend my sincerest apology because if you wrote a negative review two months after your visit I know it has continued to bother you and I truly feel bad about that. KEEPS THEIR WORD!! Honest!
This place is a rare find & I will be coming back! The owner actually went through the vehicle & fixed everything on the entire vehicle before I showed up ? and never raised the price that was listed on here for the AS IS price. I honestly thought it was too good to be true but the van is running fine 4 months later- and it?s not a new one by any means. The entire place is VERY clean & there are all sorts of things for little kids to do! Family oriented and then some! I highly recommend!!

Bad Alternator Leads to Great Experience
So I have a 70 mile commute and a car that has over 310,000 miles on it. Needless to say, I'm a car seller's dream rolling into the lot. I just happened upon Southside Automotive of Anderson out of pure luck. My alternator was out, and I had only minutes left before my car was going to give out. As soon as I got there, Dave and the mechanic Shane went to work trying to help me out, hoping it was something small. It turned out to be the alternator. Dave went above an beyond to get me a rebuilt one quickly, so I wouldn't have to pay brand new part prices. Throughout the process, not once did he try to push selling a car to me, though it is quite obvious I will soon be in the market for one. Now I know where I'm going to start looking when that time comes! Thank you Southside Auto, Anderson!

Perfect First Car Experience!
Went into Southside Automotive with the intention of buying my first car. Talked to Dave and let him know my situation, and that it was my first car. He was very friendly and helpful from the start of the experience, let me test drive the car I came in for, and even offered to fix the inner door panel which was unhinging a tiny bit (not a big deal, the car is a 1996 and in wonderful condition inside and out other than that tiny flaw). He even took a quick look at my mom?s breaks while we were there for no charge! He let my mom and I make a down payment on it and held it until we could afford the rest of the money. He even filled up the tank the day we picked it up as a first car present!! Overall, wonderful experience, extraordinary customer service, and genuinely concerned for their customer?s well-being! Only negative is that I wish he would have made it clear that something is wrong with the heat before we bought it, but honestly we should have realized that it wasn?t working at full capacity on the test drive! In the end, I would definitely do business with him again, and would recommend friends and family! Now I?m just waiting for the weather to get warmer so I can drop the top of my new (to me) convertible!!

FABULOUS place to purchase a vehicle! Dave really knows how to treat his customers...even AFTER they purchase a vehicle! I have purchased 2 used cars from Southside Auto, both of which have been GREAT additions to our family. Upon purchasing the first, a Saab 9-3, I needed to get an oil change and a repair to my door. Being that very few people work on Saabs or really know anything about them, I decided to take my car back to Southside to Dave and Shane. It was a WONDERFUL decision on my part. They took great care of my car and I, and I was out in no time with the repairs I needed. The Aztec was my second purchase and I adore it! Dave replaced all four tires, even though only two were in need of replacement. The buying process was simple and to the point, not beating around the bush, and I would recommend Southside to EVERYONE who asks because of what a wonderful business it is.

Second buying experience as great as the first!
Our daughter just bought her second vehicle from Dave at Southside Automotive and we can't say enough great things about him and his mechanic, Shane! They have gone above and beyond every time we have worked with them. Very personable, fair prices, great vehicles, honest and without a doubt will be the person we turn to when my husband and I are ready for our next car! Even though the vehicles she purchased were sold "as is", David made certain that every inch of the car was inspected and road ready ....with nothing but our daughters safety and good business ethics in mind. He even surprised her and went so far as to put an entire new set of tires on her most recent purchase at no additional expense to her! You won't find THAT type of service at any of the other used car lots we have shopped at over the years! Thanks Southside Automotive! We recommend you to any and everyone we meet!
