Option taken off car while I’m signing paperwork!

Went there and met Chris and told him I just need a written down number on a new Miata. He provided this and I thanked him, went to my car and looked at all the info I had and came back in . I had told him I don’t want to confuse the deal with trade-ins etc . So I had my price . I hadn’t countered or asked for extras. Deal done . He brings out another paper that looks just like mine except it’s $3,318.40 more . If I had trade -in etc. Could have slipped by me . Martha came out and explained that the price was for a different car . I said I was basing my buying here on the price I had on the paper in my hand . I asked for some time and came up with a number that was a compromise for both us . Chris took my offer back , it was accepted. Deal done . So now I just had to wait for them to prepare the car and go to the finance department . While I was waiting I asked for a booklet for the stargard vehicle location system which Chris had demonstrated and which the car clearly had installed and was stated was installed on the windshield. Chris told me that i would get that at the financing office and that they would have to take their name off that account and set me up on it . He did get me an owners manual which was nice . Chris let’s me know David in financing was ready . I meet David and I sign all the paperwork. I write a check. We’re done . Then as I’m walking away to go back to the other building i remember the stargard and ask David isn’t he supposed to go over that with me ? He says it doesn’t have It . I said yes it does and he said they took it off . He said if I wanted it I would have to pay for it . I couldn’t believe they would take something off the car as I was paying for it . I wasn’t ok with that and we proceeded to undo the deal . David made me a copy of the paperwork to void the deal . I did go and explain to Martha and she said the deal was already made . I just can’t believe that something was taken off the car during the purchase .

Beware of Sales Department's "Bait & Switch"!

My wife and I negotiated a CX-5 purchase with sales associate James Durr. After signing the agreement and credit docs, the sales manager Jay reneged on their written agreement telling us we must pay an extra $544+ and then recommending the sales associate, "kick us to the curb" so they can sell the car to another customer for more than what they promised. The sales department here lacks integrity.

Dealer response

Vincent, we apologize that the interaction made you feel this way. I can assure you that in no way were there any bait and switch tactics were used in this transaction or any other. We had emailed a full disclosure quote and the price never changed, the only difference was a limited $500 rebate that Mazda offered that unfortunately, you didn’t qualify for resulting in the difference. In no way do we condone or would we ever allow any team member to just “kick a client to the curb” or utter that phrase. I would be happy to discuss this with you further, you can reach me at 360-574-1131 Ext. 351. Sincerely, Jay Salaz

They lied every step of the way. They charged me for things they said were included. I went from buying a $17,000 car to financing $25,000. Nothing was explained. They also lied about what the trade in allowance was for my vehucle.

Sales Games

Let the games begin. What a frustrating experience. It started well enough by searching in the usual ways as well as creating a search via TrueCar which generated quotes from various dealers, including Alan Webb. The online sales rep was responsive and worked to get us a very competitive quote on the car we wanted. It was when we went back to the dealership to start the purchase paperwork that things took a turn for the worse. Same old car dealership games. First the sale price was wrong - sales person runs 50 feet to the sales manager's office and returns a minute later with new paperwork reflecting the correct price previously discussed on the phone multiple times while making the appointment. Repeat the same process for an extended warranty we never asked for they tried to sell as part of what we had to include (extra $3500). Repeat the process for "brake surge" for $395 sold as a factory installed option (complete lie as it is something a dealership adds). The sales manager never came out of his office and the sales person was completely out of his depth trying to explain why we had to accept nearly $4000 in added cost for things we didn't want. Nearly walked out. Financing went smooth and quick, as it always has with any car purchase I have made. I will not take my car to Alan Webb Mazda for any service or buy from them again.

DO NOT GO HERE

To start off, do yourself a favor & DO NOT go to this dealership. Just spare yourself all together. I went in on a Thursday, started at another dealership in Portland with great service and ended my day at Alan Webb. Found a car that I liked, test drove it etc. Peter to be exact about who helped me started off with "Im on my smoke break but I can help you". ??????? HUH. Anyways, he ended up insulting my job title saying "if you were a broker you'd be making a lot more money than you are", interrupted my father mid sentence saying that "he wasn't talking to him" when we were clearly there all together and several times interrupted us while we were talking, oh & he also took two more smoke breaks while we were sitting there in his chair waiting.. The last straw was when he told my father that we all stood up and walked out, but Peter proceeded to walk up to my window and continue his selling pitch...and then called me. Moral of the story, would have boughten the car, but my experience there was less than pleasant. There's a strong reason that they have an F with the Better Business Bureau. Best buying experience I've ever had!

Peter Gregg in sales was amazing! He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Mark in finance was great as well. Both employees made sure to answer any questions I had. They were very thorough and honest. I've bought several cars in my lifetime and this truly was the best experience I have ever had!
