On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, my son (his first major purchase) recently purchased a new vehicle, 2025 Kia K5, from Andy Mohr Kia in Avon, Indiana. From the moment he picked the vehicle up from the dealership he's had problems with the Safety System. My son immediately returned the vehicle the next day and was given a loaner vehicle. The following are the error codes from the Safety System: Codes: C284287; C160A88; C183787 In addition to the error codes listed, there is another code for a loose pin in the bumper harness. Several days later the service department contacted my son indicating the Safety System issues had been resolved. However, within a day of driving the vehicle the same issue with the Safety System recurred. Upon returning the vehicle back to the service department for the second time the technicians were not successful in fixing the issues and had to contact Kia's Corporate Office for further assistance from Kia's engineers. On Monday, June 23, 2025 my son returned to the dealership regarding the progress of the repairs. The technicians still have not been able to resolve the issues. At that time Andy Mohr's management team asked for another opportunity to address the problem. My son agreed to give them until the end of the week to resolve the issue. On Friday, June 28, 2025 both my son and brother returned to Andy Mohr Kia to discuss the progress and a resolution. During that time my son and brother expressed to Andy Mohr's management team their concerns regarding the continued problems with the Safety System and that my son no longer wanted the vehicle which has approximately 75 miles. My son submitted three stock numbers of vehicles currently on Andy Mohr's lot that he would be interested in driving. However, Andy Mohr's management team continues to use stall tactics and refers back to Kia's Corporate Office as needing to resolve the issue. It was further communicated to my family by the General Manager, Joe Kapitan, "You brought the car you own it." Additionally stating, "It's not Andy Mohr's KIA responsibility, however, it's the customer responsibility to contact the manufacturer (Kia) and to get them involved in rectifying the problem." In addition, Joe Kapitan, the General Manager, tells my son and brother that he will not put my son into another vehicle because if he takes the vehicle back it would be considered a used vehicle. As I mentioned before my son has not had the vehicle in his possession for any extended amount of time and the vehicle has been in the service department for the majority of the time. Furthermore, my brother asked to speak with someone above the general manager and was given a name of Erik Sperspud. My brother has attempted to reach out to him but to date has not received a return phone call. My son has followed all of their instructions including contacting Kia's Corporate Office and has been extremely patient. Mind you my son has not had the car in his possession for any extended amount of time. Meanwhile, the 72 hours option to resend the contact has passed and he will have a payment due soon. To date the vehicle has not been fixed and it remains at the dealership. Other family members have purchased vehicles from both Andy Mohr Nissan and Kia. Our expectation from Andy Mohr's dealerships is that they stand by the products they sell. As I am writing this review, Andy Mohr Kia's management has called my son and requested that he return the loaner car because we have posted truthful and honest reviews. The "Owner" has responded to a previous review regarding this situation and has stated, "He understands our frustration." But by requesting unless we delete the post my son has to return the loaner vehicle because we have posted truthful and honest reviews and rated my son's experience as a "One Star" is not considered worthy of understanding any of our frustrations at all.
