Bait and Switch

I agree with the bait and switch comment. We drove 50 miles to look at a car only to find out that the pictures featured online were stock photos advertised as the actual photos for the car. The sales person called the manager in front of us and said I need some help here to try to keep us there and sell us something we were not interested in. Do not shop at this dealership.

BAIT AND SWITCH. DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE

This was the worst car buying experience I’ve ever had. Blatantly lied to and classic bait and switch scam. Please read on for details. I initially reached out to Toyota of Huntington Beach online and spoke with Daniel Rodriguez. I told him what we were looking for and that our max total price was $36k out the door (including all taxes, fees, etc). I mentioned that I had $6k available for a down payment and financing already in place through Chase. I told him we had an offer from another dealership for that price and asked him if he could match, since they were a closer drive for us. He spoke with his manager, then called and texted me back confirming they could match the price of $36k out the door. I left work early and drove over there with my wife and 6 month old son to close the deal. Everything seemed fine while we were there. Test drove the car, they confirmed the price once again, and then we started the paperwork. I sat there for an hour waiting and signing papers with the finance manager before we finally got to a document that showed the actual price I was paying (of course he brought that out last after I’d committed a ton of time already). Lo and behold, it was about $6k higher than agreed. Their reason? “Oh, you meant $36k for the total price? We thought you meant $36k for the loan amount after your down payment of $6k”. If you’re wondering how “max total price“ can be interpreted to mean “loan amount size“, don’t ask me. Don’t even ask them, they can’t give you a reason either. This was clearly a bait and switch scam to get me in the door and hit me with the final price at the very end hoping I’d bite. I was blatantly lied to, wasted three hours of my evening, and had to take a 30 minute Uber drive home (my wife had left early to put our baby to sleep. We thought I’d be driving home in the new car). Please heed my advice and don’t look here to purchase your next vehicle. They will lie to you and do whatever they can to make more money off you.

Great Experience

We were shopping for a used Rav4 for our daughter. Coming from out of town 2hrs away. Had done our homework and went to many dealers that had advertised online prices. Many other dealers prices on cars were higher then what they advertised online and you had to mention the online price or they would not honor it. This was our last stop to compare vehicles before making our decision. We let them know our situation and looked at the one we saw online. The price not only matched what was advertised online but they actually gave us an even much better price. The Rav4 was really clean and the whole sales and finance process was easy and smooth. They were really busy but still got to us in a very timely manner. Great experience from start to finish. Love our Rav4 that we got for our daughter’s college car!

Buyer beware

Traded in my Audi A8 and bought a 2017 Lexus CT200h. I provided both key remotes for my car but when they delivered my car it came with one key, they refused to get me a second key. Now I have to spend $330 for a second key and also have to accept that former owner has a key to my car. Went back and talked to sales manager who couldn’t care less. Bottom line they provide no service or consideration after the sale is made. Buyer beware.

Great Experience!

After several months of car research, I finally decided on a 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid to replace my very old van, and upon making that decision I started searching online for different dealerships that might offer me the best price. When I submitted a query on a particular RAV4 that I found for sale through Toyota of Huntington Beach, I got a reply from Matt, one of their salespeople, very early the next morning. Matt answered all of my questions and convinced me that this was the car for me; he also answered my call when I had a question, and was available to help me within minutes of arriving at the dealership itself. Overall, my experience there was great - both Matt and his "finance guy" (I believe his name was Andrew) helped out a lot and worked together to make this purchase work for me. And now I have a great new car that I love!

Bait and Switch - Beware!

Complete bait and switch. I made an appointment to see a used 4Runner. When I got there, they said they had sold it and then tried to sell me a new one for another 10k. They clearly think their customers are stupid. I would NEVER do business with them.

Worst dealer experience of my life

I went in to see a specific car. I liked it but wanted to drive one at another dealership for the exact same price, trim, etc. Just to compare. They were willing to do anything to keep my business with them and I really appreciated the effort on their behalf so I decided I was going to purchase the car because they said they would honor their online pricing. I was told this by the sales representative AND the manager. We ran numbers, worked out a great payment arrangement, etc just for another manager to come tell me that he couldn't sell the car for the online price because the dealership would be "taking too big of a loss" and slapped over a grand of fees on there. I was pretty upset that they would make me that offer, waste my time, and then take it back so I told them I was going to pass. They told me to look at other car options, I said no... Then they went back and forth with what price they were going to go with on the original car THREE MORE TIMES until I just got up and walked out. I really feel like they were only willing to honor the online price because they saw that I looked young and probably wouldn't have a good apr or large amount to put down. Both assumptions are incorrect and once they realized that, the manager decided to change the price on the vehicle. Extremely unprofessional and discriminatory. Although the car was very nice and good quality, I would rather spend my money at a dealership that I can actually respect.

No response from Toyota of HB on an FJ Cruiser!

I contacted Toyota of Huntington Beach through cars.com regarding a 2014 FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Edition that was a brand new listing. I was/am ready to buy and wanted the car immediately. I never heard back from them, and a few days later, the ad was pulled. I assume the FJ was sold, but I never got a response even though I reached out a few times. Quite unprofessional to say the least. I'll be taking my business to another dealer from now on. Why do Toyota dealers have the worst customer service reputation in So Cal? I think I'll go private party from now on.
