I emailed the dealer about a car for sale. One of their salespersons, Heather, responded saying the car was still available and asked when I would like to come take a look. I setup a time to come view the car that evening. I stated that I would be driving from 1.5 hours away to look at the car, to which she stated that she would be there waiting for me. I called Heather right before heading over and she confirmed she would be there. I pull up to the dealership and go inside to ask for Heather. The front desk person stated she was talking to another customer at the moment and would be with me soon. 10 minutes later another salesperson comes out to alert me that the car had been sold already. He stated that this person had viewed the car yesterday and "randomly" showed up and wanted to buy before I got there. This explanation sounded fabricated to me and it seemed like Heather called the other interested party to alert them they may lose out on the vehicle unless they got there before I did. I was furious and reminded them that I just drove an hour and half to view the car with a confirmed appointment. In total, this was a 3 hour waste of my time. The dealership did not appear to feel bad about wasting my time either. They could have offered to reimburse me for the cost of gas, but they did not. I would never recommend this dealership to anyone after being treated this poorly.
