Purchased a 2012 Subaru Outback on Friday 07/19/2024 and
Purchased a 2012 Subaru Outback on Friday 07/19/2024 and bought the warranty. I drove it 3 hours home and the next day it started shutting off if you hit the brakes quickly. Took it to my local Subaru dealer and dropped it off Wednesday 07/24/2024. It needed a new Torch Converter, estimated $3,000.00 fix, just days after bringing it home. I just got it back today, 08/15/2024, almost a month after purchase we are just now able to use it. It took until Tuesday of the week for the warranty company to approve the fix. Apparently, the warranty they sell doesn't really start at the time of purchase but 60 days after purchase, so this has been a whole ordeal. Today we also discovered the zip tie they used to fix the broken seat so it didn't look broken has snapped and the Subaru dealer is replacing it for us for parts cost only, about $100. I would never buy another car here, the warranty company told us they would approve the fix, 08/02/2024 but then called back and said the purchasing dealer was requiring an inspection, that added considerably to the time we were without the car. The inspector who came to look at the car also referenced having to send the information to the dealer for approval. The salesman also told me he would replace the missing headrest from the back seat, even if it was just grabbing one from the other outback on the lot, this did not happen. Just ordered a used replacement, it was almost $100. The remote start button didn't work, so I had Subaru look at that as well. The 1st problem was remote wasn't even programed, they programed it but then couldn't get it to work as the button was broken. I had to buy remote start remote almost $200 and have that programed. So, with only 1 day of use in the first month of ownership I'm out of pocket $500 in repairs; $100 warranty deductible, $100 headrest, $200 remote start fob, $100 seat part. They do stand by their "As Is" policy, when called about issues that it the mantra. Buyer Beware!!!! Their cars need major repairs and are zip tied back together. Now, the car has spent the entire month of November in the shop, the head gaskets are leaking, the rear brake lines are leaking, and there is a bad oil valve. Magically none is covered under the warranty I purchased. I reached out multiple times when we had the first issues and they were completely unhelpful and never told me about their 3 day return policy, I would have brought it back.

Could not make this up if I tried. The level of sleezy, incompetent car sales experienced at this place is unmatchable. If you want to express interest in a car, fill out financing paperwork, get financing approved, try to make a down payment and not have it accepted, and then offer a deposit, which too was declined, and have the price raised the next day by $1,500 before you can come back, come here! Read that again...THEY WILL RAISE THE PRICE OF THE CAR YOU WANT THE DAY AFTER YOU LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP UNLESS YOU BUY IT THAT DAY! Literally Dan the Manager, who has self proclaimed been doing this 30 years, clearly slept through ethics or integrity class. He drops the ball on telling a potential buyer on what types of down payment are accepted when doing initial test drive on a Saturday. Why make someone fill out the intake form if you don't use it to help close your own deal? Dan saw the down payment amount on the intake form HE CREATED and USED. Literally say to Dan on a Saturday the down payment is going to be on AmEx to get points. Wanted to sleep on it and said would buy on Monday. Come back on following Monday, fill out financing paperwork, financing approved, ready to close purchase and find out using AmEx is not an option of a down payment. Dan says there is a law in Illinois, which I have still yet to find anywhere on the internet. But where was this on Saturday? Where was this prior to pulling credit? You have the intake form! Won't take a wire transfer from a bank either. Personal check or Cashier's Check only, which could not get back to this dealership until Wednesday with either. Refuses $3,000 deposit to hold until Wednesday. When asked about this on a call in normal tone and no profanity, hangs up on me. Yes, I called you out your professionalism and competency. After Dan's next move, it is clear he has no professionalism or integrity. On Tuesday (today, also very next day), he bumps up the price of the car $1,500. Call Dan to ask if the purchaser comes back tomorrow, after having the financing approved at the previous price, will she have to pay the higher price he personally bumped it to. After dropping the ball the whole way of this process, of course Dan dropped it again and said, "yes, she will have to pay the new higher price." Having purchased multiple cars and some in other states, flying to pick up cars, assisting others with purchasing, I have never in my 46 years on this planet seen such incompetence, such lack of integrity, and such lack of class. Well, you lost a customer and that customer's family member, who bought their last car from you. Good job Dan and Gregory Mitsubishi! So anyone looking to purchase a car at Gregory Mitsubishi, make sure you only go in the moment you are ready to buy. Don't think, don't leave and don't sleep on it. If you fill out financing and everything else, and then leave due to them not accepting the down payment method you mentioned literally in person, Dan will raise the price while you are gone. Found the exact same car, cheaper and less miles than the original price any way. So I can at least thank him for that. Feel free to look at their 2023 BMW 228i Gran Coupe on their website and check the pricing history. It is clear as day they price switch the moment you say you like a car. There are too many purchase options for cars to run a business like this. Anyone with 30 years in any line of business knows this is unacceptable. Except Dan the manager at Gregory Mitsubishi.
