I was planning on buying a car within the next year or so but then I totaled mine so the hunt was on. I hate buying cars, hate it. I went to about 5 places before I got fed up that I just wasn't going to find the car I wanted at the price I wanted. Then I read a KBB review of the top 10 cars under $8000. I wanted something with some cargo space, a small hatchback and the only one in that rating was the 2005 Mazda3 so I googled for one in my area and there it was. I instantly liked the style and color and it was listed at about $8500 on Cooley's website. I called and asked if was still available and it was. I walked in the next day when I was in the area and Vinnie came to show me the car. It was pretty obvious the car hadn't been moved in a while, a bunch of cars had to be moved to get it out BUT it started right up. I took it on a test drive and it handled beautifully. Vinnie asked if I wanted to buy the car and I said yes but I have conditions. One of those conditions is that my regular mechanic looks it over before I buy it. My mechanic is 50 miles from the dealership, but they agreed. I told Vinnie that's great but I wanted to sleep on it because I always want to sleep on big purchases. He set a price and it was a really good deal, but other than that, no high pressure. The next day I called Vinnie and said I want the car but I wanted to change the deal up and he agreed and came up with another good deal for me. I took the car to my mechanic and he only found a few cosmetic things, the systems were completely sound, lots of work had been done by the dealership and he was impressed. I brought the car back and Vinnie said it needed one thing fixed in order to pass NYS inspection and that part would be in on Monday and I could have the car Tuesday (today). Mid-day comes and I get word that the part isn't in and I have to drive that god-forsaken Nissan Turd rental until Thursday. Not only did I not want to pay for that rental 2 more days but I'd have to keep the rental until Friday because I was going out of town. I admit, I kind of lost my mind. I didn't swear but I told Vinnie "fix the problem" Vinnie said I'll call you back in 20 minutes. Vinnie called back and said I can get you the car by tonight, so he obviously "fixed the problem". They got the parts off another car and even added some additional parts that weren't included originally. I dropped off the rental and Vinnie picked me up and brought me to the dealership. They had detailed the car and it looked BRAND NEW. The price is exactly what I wanted to pay and the car drives like a dream. I don't know what other people expect but I expect a good value and good service and I got both. I will be a repeat customer and I will recommend Vinnie and Cooley to anyone I know shopping for a car.

VW Buyer - We're sorry you have been experiencing difficulty with follow up. Our dealership recently went through substantial management changes, and we'd be honored if you'd give us another try at a great experience. If you're interested, we can be reached at 518-283-2902.
FANTASTIC!!!
Hands down the best experience ive ever had!!! I heard all the buzz goin around about the new mazdas so i thought i would give it a shot. Open for suggestions on the new skyactiv line, my sales person Huffy was extremely well educated and helped me check out each vehicle in detail (Mazda 3,6 and CX-5). After finally narrowing it down to which vehicle fit me best (mazda 6), they worked with me to get me to the payment i needed and from there the rest of it fell into place. After i had made my decision i was in and out of finance and into my new gorgeous before i knew it!! I was also introduced to the service department to make me feel more comfortable coming in to have my car serviced. For anyone looking for VW or Mazda i would highly recommend Cooley over other dealerships in the area, only because it has been a family owned dealership for decades and is a very laid back comfortable experience!! :)

I purchased a 2010 Jetta in September. It is the end of February and the brakes are completely shot. My father was going to fix the brakes for me & when he went to take the wheels off, he noticed the lug nuts required a special tool to take them off. He looked in the truck where the tool was supposed to be & it wasn't there. He also checked the glove compartment and the center console. I called Cooley Motors & was told I needed to speak with the person that sold me the car. His name is Huffy. I spoke to him and the general manager on speak phone about 7pm on a Wednesday night. The "GM" told me they could cut the special lug nuts off & put on regular ones that didn't require a tool. I advised him I wasn't comfortable driving the car w/ brakes as bad as mine were. They then suggested I have the car towed - I told them I refused to pay for a tow truck plus it would only get my car there, I would still need to drive the car back from the dealership with bad brakes. They said they would speak with someone in the parts department and get back to me. I heard from Huffy the next day. He again told me I could drive my car there or have it towed -I told him again my car was unsafe and I was not driving it. He said he'd talk to the parts department, again, and call me back. He called about 10 mins later & told me since my car is a Certified Pre-Owned, I have roadside assistance. I would just need to lie & say my car broke down & won't start so they would cover a tow to the dealership. But again, that means I would still need to drive an unsafe car 30 miles to bring it back to my parents house. I told him I could have my father take a picture of the lug nut so they could see exactly which tool I would need so they could see if they had an extra for me to borrow. Hours later I text Huffy 2 pictures. I had to text him an hour later & tell him I would like an answer back today so my dad could fix the car tomorrow. He finally called me and said they couldn't use the picture to find the exact tool I would need. He also told me again to have it towed. After hearing that for the 4th time & having to explain to him I was not comfortable driving an unsafe car for the 4th time, I got a little frustrated. I told Huffy this wasn't my fault that they sold me this car without this special tool & he needed to figure this out. I was at work, I've already taken 4 calls with still not result & the same suggestions. I said he needed to figure it out by the end of the day so my Dad can work on the car the next day. Huffy then said to me "you can figure this out on your own then. You're being pretty disrespectful. You can go f*xx your self" I will be the first one to admit, I can sometimes act irrational but I assure you, I was not this time. I obviously had a certain tone since I was so frustrated at this point but I did not curse or call him any names. I simply stated that it was not my problem & they needed to figure out how we can get the wheels off my car. I could not believe he actually said this to me. A customer, a woman!! I asked to speak to his manager & he told me I could call back & ask for .... (I don't remember the GM's name but I remember him from when I purchased the car & he was cocky & rude too) I am completely appalled that this man spoke to me like this. I will tell everyone I know to tell everyone they know NOT purchase a car from Huffy. This situation is now in the hands of Eric Cooley - we have to wait & see what the outcome is.

Disappointing shopping experience, never again
I was recently in the market for a new Volkswagen, and Cooley was a dealership that I considered doing business with. Like many of us do nowadays, I inquired about a car using the internet, which led me to a Cooley Motors salesman named Huffy. In the beginning, things went well; Huffy was friendly, and promptly answered any questions I had. He also provided me with a price quote, and stated that it was the very best he could offer me. I took him at his word, and soon found that a newer, higher volume VW dealership in the area could beat his offer. Naturally, I purchased from them. When I told Huffy of my decision, this was his reply: "Well Will you didn't give me an opportunity, so I guess you'll never know if we could of beat them, but thanks for running me around and not taking into consideration that selling cars is how I earn my living. In the future don't waste peoples time because we were 10 bucks less with some money down so with no money down it was basically the same deal... simple math.. enjoy your new car..." Whether it's for service on my new car, or the purchase of another VW in the future, I will not be dealing with Cooley. I only patronize dealerships that want to EARN my business, not feel entitled to it.

The sales department is out to get you. They will try to screw you on anyway possible. I was not happy nor do I trust them one bit. I was offered 13% interest rate because I needed to finance. I told them my bank I was associated with offered about 6%. The very same day they offered the same rate. I politely said no and wanted to stay with my current bank. They continued the talk negatively with the bank I was associated with because they are "notorious" with "stipulations" but I again wanted to stay with my bank. The next day the salesman continued to rag on my bank and said they could beat it by a percent. I don't know how much truth to this but continue to listen to him. He said his manager needed the truck I was interested in off the lot. He pressured me to get my bank the money, which I was not pleasant about at all. They made me feel that I was being an inconvenience to them because it was taking too long for them to get their money. This was within a 4 day period.

Disappointed
My First experience with Cooley Motors was Disappointing... I am a huge Mazda/VW fan (bought my first new Mazda in 1992) and one of my first cars was a VW. (Currently I have 2 VW's and 1 Mazda) I'm new to the area so I was pretty excited to find a dealer that dealt with both. I discovered the hard way that their Finance Dept is inept, enough to question the integrity of the establishment. At the final closing the Fi person inflated the price over MSRP by $900. I pointed this out to them, their first response was I must have added something to the vehicle...(No...) So after about 20 minutes it was cleared up. There was some other detailed discussion but only when I asked, he offered no details of the deal. At one point he even resisted my attempt to increase the payment (a bit odd I thought- but I got the impression he just wanted me to go away ASAP). Ok-- so now Deal 'Closed'. Went home looked at the paperwork again-- and noticed my Deposit (taken three days earlier wasn't on the contract) So I called the Fi Department 3 times over a couple of hours - they didn't return my call but my salesperson did- He told me it was a "good faith" deposit and it would be returned. About three weeks later I was contacted by the Fi Dept because I needed to return to re-sign paperwork. Apparently on the original printed where the Monthly Payment Due Date was "N/A". (don't get too excited my copy - the bottom carbon copy had no dealer sig's on it). I have/had my one month service scheduled for the 18th and asked if we could do it then. I was told it needed to be done asap because we were out of time...I explained my work rotation and I would get there when I could. I arrived on a Saturday-- My appt was on Monday (did one non business/bank day really matter?). They can't bill VW for service if the customer isn't there...(They'll figure that one out on the 18th) I returned to sign (and since my deposit hadn't been returned, I would inquire)-- The deal look the same.... But where's my deposit? When I asked the Fi person I was told that it was part of my first payment and they didn't like to show it on the books... Umm...Ok... So then we get to the discussion about when my first payment would be due (Didn't matter to me what day it's due) even though on the new contract it was printed "10th of each Month"... the Fi person tells me my payment is due on the 26th and repeated it several times...Ok... Why Fabricate a non issue? Reluctantly, I re-signed the contract. Returned home without my deposit - called the salesperson who sounded "surprised" I had not received my deposit back yet... Nor have I(Friday will be a month). It's been a very disappointing experience and more to the story, but I'm not attempting to write an iBook. It's not about the amount- more about the principle, of their lack there of... I would have thought after "40 years in business" they would be interested in building relationships and customers? With just one shot deals, fabrication of facts, and poor accountability practices in their organization, I doubt they will be around for another 40 years...
