My son and I were in the market to purchase a late model or new VW Tiguan. Hernan, from Autohaus in Lancaster, was the sales person whom we started communicating with to help explore the availability of a VW Tiguan that would meet our needs. Over a period of a week, Hernan worked with us on answering many questions regarding car features, financing, and the pros and cons on a new car vs a CPO purchase. After evaluating other VW dealers, we decided to purchase a new 2026 Tiguan SE from Hernan. As a customer, Hernan went to bat for us on any issues needing upper management approval regarding negotating this new car purchase. I recently worked with Auto Haus Porsche on a Porsche 911 I was seriously considering purchasing. The staff was professional and responsive throughout the process. However, after reviewing the AutoCheck report, I discovered the vehicle had a reported collision history. During our discussion, Dean mentioned their body shop could see the bumper had been repainted and suggested it may have only been a scratch, but the AutoCheck report specifically lists it as a collision. When I attempted to discuss pricing based on the accident history and the impact it has on Porsche 911 resale value, especially within the enthusiast market, I was told “we have to agree to disagree,” and there was no willingness to negotiate. I respect their right to price the car however they choose, but buyers should absolutely do their own due diligence and review third-party history reports carefully before purchasing.
