Took RAV4 in because the lift-gate would not open.
Took RAV4 in because the lift-gate would not open.. The service department said that I had damaged the lift gate. Rather than looking to see what the problem was they just said take it to the Collision Center. They denied my extended warranty. The hinges are too small for the weight of the door. This has been a problem since 2015. Toyota does not want to address the problem. I feel like they didn’t even check the car they said without knowing you damaged the door.

Hello Tom, I am having a hard time understanding where we may have gone wrong. The Toyota store sent you to the collision center because there was damage. Extended service contracts do not cover damage, and if you believe that the hinges are too small that would be a grievance with the manufacturer but we haven't heard of this being a problem.
