No service after the sale
No follow up service after the sale. They leave you hanging with any issue they don't want, or I should say don't know HOW to deal with. They sold me an IONIQ EV and knew nothing about the charging cable.
Purchase and Repair Service
My son was sold a damaged vehicle. The damages were known and obvious. It was his first solo vehicle purchase and he was completely taken advantage of. They had his trade in online for sale before he even signed anything. It wasn't even washed, was covered with mud, and seemed that they just wanted to get rid of it. He brought the purchased vehicle back in within a day for serious issues and it wasn't fixed properly. He had to bring it to a Chevy dealership for proper repair as he couldn't even drive it. Then he was refused service or payment for the repairs that should have taken care of by Colonial Hyundai. At the time of purchase, he was charged for an expensive top of the line warranty without being asked and then not given any information on the warranty except a pamphlet which said nothing. When he came back for service, the service manager said nothing about the warranty and refused service. My son has had to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket and he's barely had the vehicle for a month. He had another issue with the vehicle this week and when he called again for assistance, he was hung up on!!! Another $1000 to pay out for a vehicle he just purchased. They saw a young man's lack of experience and took total advantage of him. Colonial Hyundai is a poor excuse for a dealership. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
Lied about engine replacemet
Came in to trade in a car and purchase one of their used cars. Salesman didn't listen at all to what we wanted from the car (CarPlay was a #1 feature) and showed us multiple cars that didn't fit our description at all. Failed to listen to the budget we had for the car. When we found one we could be interested in, we noticed on the test drive that it had a high number of miles (90k). The salesman then told us the car had a full engine replacement, which was subsequently backed up by his manager and the GM of the dealership, and were told to 'trust them'. We did not receive a single document showing this engine change. The GM has stopped emailing us back, indicating that it was a complete lie and they were trying to get us to buy a high mileage, no warranty car by lying about an entire engine replacement. Do not buy from here, classic sleazy dealership tactics.
Hi carbuyer, My name is Kevin Wagner and I manager the Service Department and I'm sorry to hear about this experience. I can confirm that the 90K Tucson had the complete engine replaced. If you want to call me directly, I am at 484.364.3772 and would love to help. The Tucson that you are referring to is a great vehicle that was meticulously taken care of by the prior owner. Again, I am sorry that this happened and will be happy to help. Sincerely, Kevin Wagner
Shady and deceitful.
Avoid Colonial Hyundai at all costs. Please take your business elsewhere the salesman and representatives here are shady and underhanded. Especially Ace, they will do or say anything to get your purchase and ignore your requests. They will tear your flyer for there sale in half and take one that is different and claim it to be yours so you don’t get the prize you may have actually one. Just so they don’t have to pay out. They have no pricing on the cars so you have no idea what they cost. And they will not tell you a price. They will laugh and joke about your physical injuries because it doesn’t matter. Even the manager will not give you his name he will just say he is one. How do I know he isn’t some coffee runner sent to handle the upset customers. While I was there I noticed a lot of other unhappy customers who had the same shady and dirt tactics applied to them and watched them leave cheated and downtrodden.
We would like to sincerely apologize for what occurred during your visit to our dealership and we certainly are looking into it. We always make it a priority to treat our customers like family and to provide them with the best customer service possible and we are sorry that was not the case during your visit. We will take care of the issue so it does not happen again in the future and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention so we can better our dealership. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you and we hope that we will be able to regain your business at some point in the future. -The Colonial Team
Can't replace a hubcap
The day I bought my used 2015 Hyundai Accent here, I drove it home. As soon as I stepped out of the car, I noticed a hubcap had fallen off. Clearly is was on wrong. I called the dealership and they immediately started giving me the runaround, stating "you can buy those used for like 20 bucks". So what happens when something more serious than the hubcap falls off my car? Very bad first impression.
CPO car sold damaged
Bought a CPO car from dealership. After owning car for period of time found fender rusting out due to damaged one to front fender prior to myself buying car. damaged would have been found during CPO inspection but was not shown. Dealer declined to look into repairing car or refunding additional money payed for CPO status. Go to different dealership and save the hassle
STAY AWAY!! Borderline Fraud Marketing
STAY AWAY! Their deceptive advertising/marketing is borderline fraud. There are many honest dealerships out there, so why would anyone go to colonial Hyundai of Downingtown? Their marketing is designed to lead you to believe you’ve gotten an excellent deal but when you get into the dealership everything changes for the worse. They said strait to my face, “this marketing is used to lure people in and it was approved by the attorney general.” Even if the approval is true, it must have been barely approved and that does not mean it’s a good idea to use this type of marketing to deceive people. I bet a lot of good, honest people were in the same position I was and I feel really sorry for them. This level of deception is just not right and they have to be a real slime ball of a dealership to mislead people this way. The few people at the dealership I spoke with seemed very snake-like and I would definitely not trust them with a purchase or service. If they are this deceptive and sleazy with their marketing, imagine how they are throughout the rest of their organization. I would expect this type of deceit in a used car lot in south philly, but not at a new Hyundai dealership. Again, I would strongly encourage everyone to NOT step one foot onto the lot of colonial Hyundai of Downingtown.
Thilled with my experiance!
Katie Schaffer and Vinnie Perry made my first time buying a car experience a smooth one. Katie was able to find everything I needed to meet my needs and Vinnie made sure I was able to get the financing to drive my car home that day! I left very happy and would definitely recommend for anyone to stop in and see them for your car needs.
We contacted them about a used car listed on their website, to which we were told the car was available and was ready to go. Knowing we were coming from an hour and a half away, they set up an appointment for us to chime to test drive it. We drove an hour and a half there to be told the car wasn't available bc the previous owner hit a deer and they were unaware of the extent to the damages. Upon looking for the car after we left the building, the damage was clearly visible. I told the salesman I would not be financing a car at this time, yet he proceeded to try to convince me to purchase a financed car. I refused again and we left. If I wasn't already appalled enough, I have continued to get automatic updates from their site showing me that not only is the car still listed, but the price increased by $3000, then decreases by $1000, only to increase back up to $6000. Apparently the car they said was too damaged to let anyone drive away in, was easily fixed within a day so much so its value tripled that fast. I will be contacting them personally to express my frustration as well for wasting not only our time, but the gas to come all the way down there. I have nothing good to say about this dealership.
I was working with Lou to get a car. He was amazing with everything. I went in a little too late and had to come back the next day. I left with the car I was going to buy, the car I had already got insurance for. I returned the next day and was helped the next day and everything went south from there. They have me every excuse in the book why they couldn?t sell me the car. They told me it would take the bank 3 days to get back to me on the final loan offer. I?ve never heard of that my entire life. They only cash and nothing else. No checks no anything. I don?t know if I looked like a person couldn?t own a check book with the amount to money in my bank account or what. They told me I couldn?t go with the car and that was it. Left stranded. No one called to check if I wanted to back in if I had the cash in hand like they wanted. No one called to say they would like to help me still get a car. I?ve never been treated this way and was really upset. I honestly have nothing nice to say about my experience over there. No one ever followed up with me. Like I never came in.
