This review covers several customer service interactions. I bought a (gently) used Toyota Crown in 2023. The buying experience was what any astute car buyer would expect. A lot of back and forth?a lot of information exchanged. I had a price I was willing to pay. They had a price they wanted to sell at. We eventually agreed and I bought the car. On the day I went to get the car?AFTER they had my money?I discovered that the Owners Manuals (there were 4 I think) that I was told ?are in the glovebox??we?re not ? Now..I know in this digital age?no hard copy manuals are not the end of the world?but it?s the FACT that I had asked about them?made it clear that I wanted them..that bothered me. I?ll save a lot of time (and a lot of typing) and say?after a couple months of xx and empty promises?I BOUGHT A SET OF MANUALS ON EBAY ! To summarise?Once they had their money?the rest was just ?waiting me out?. Fortunately?my experiences with Hendrick?s Service Department have been COMPLETELY different. On the same day that I found I had no manuals?I also learned that they ONLY HAD ONE FOB for the vehicle (I had been told that??the second fob is here somewhere?we?ll find it?. Well?you guessed it?They couldn?t find it??and they had no problem saying that ?We?re only obligated to provide one...if you want another?you?ll have to buy it??more on this later. Now?before I go on?FOB-GATE was also on THE SALES PERSON/DEPT. I did some digging and I discovered that during COVID?(due to supply issues) Toyota was providing A SINGLE FOB to new car purchasers?with the promise to provide a second fob once the supply issues had subsided. Now?the car I bought had very low mileage. So I thought?just maybe?my car would qualify for a second fob?No Charge. So?I bypassed SALES (no surprise there) and went directly to Parts and Service. I wish I could remember the name of the young man at the Parts desk?he was WONDERFUL?but alas?I don?t remember his name. I explained my dilemma?pre-owned car?only one fob. After a couple minutes of computer time?he was able to confirm that the car I purchased NEVER GOT ITS SECOND FOB?and was eligible to get one now?NO CHARGE ! Now?what does that say about the Sales person I worked with?and the Sales Manager ? I?ll leave that up to the reader to decide. So?after a short wait?I had my second fob and was on my way. In the ensuing 2 years?I have utilized Hendricks Toyota?s Service Department several times for scheduled maintenance (Toyota Care) and (what turned out to be) minor issues. Each and every time?the folks in the Service Department have been exemplary ! I would contact Service Rep Melissa Hatcher to set an appointment. When I arrived at the appointed time?Melissa would be there?with a big smile and a heartfelt greeting?check me in and get the service process started. Although the Service Technicians who do the work are unknown to me?I have never had any issue with their work?and the reports they supply are concise and complete. I always knew everything they found and did. Melissa kept me informed as things progressed. I honestly can?t say enough good things about Hendrick?s Toyota Service Department.
