Transmission ruins a good SAV
Just purchased my BMW certified '07 X3si. It handles wonderfully, has a decent (albeit somewhat dated) interior, plenty of power, nice styling, and a horrible transmission. The transmission is extremely rough in low speed acceleration and deceleration and feels more like a cheap econobox than a German sports vehicle. I would highly recommend that potential X3 buyers consider other options.

2nd X3 I've owned and this one is awesome!
With the new 3.0si there's plenty of power. Like the 3 series it handles tight cornering without any over, or under, steering. Compared to my previous 2005 X3 fuel economy is slightly improved, even with more horses under the hood. Interior, while improved, never quite up to what Audi is able to accomplish--but satisfactory nonetheless. Moonroof makes for an open and real airy feeling. The size is what I like the best--not too big; not too small; just right. Definitely a winner!

Best vechicle we have yet owned in all aspects
This SAV appears have excellant effeciency providing very good accelleration as well as good gas mileage. The breaks and handling are above average with no undue harshness and ride. All controls are very convienent and intuitive. It is not easy to accellerate softly, there is a tendency to hesitate. It loves to move of smartly when one is in hurry but when it is necessary to creap along , the car does not like it. I Like its growl on takeoff but is not noisy cruising, it will be very easy to drive all day. Getting 27mpg in mixed driving (CAN). Surprised that oil life can be extended to about 25000kms in ideal conditions, I feel that winter would create problems eventually. Hope BMW has this worked out . Costly but it is a cut above most.

Great Drive.
Best features: Excellent visibility, and response - EZ to drive & park; high-end luxury look & feel; Lots of power; Comfortable mid-size SUV. Negatives: Hesitation on acceleration; lacks automatic liftgate opener.

Worst in class
It is simple, BMW X3 is a terrible car. Stay away from it. It is unreliable, gas guzzling, and overpriced. If you want a small luxury SUV, look at a Land Rover LR2, or especially an Acura RDX.

Great Car
The panoramic moonroof that, when fully deployed, feels almost like a targa top. Great feature! The interior is a comfortable place to take refuge with comfortable leather seats and room enough for 4 grown adults. The car has amped up performance with proven reliability along with a gas sipping 26 miles per gallon (highway). Best in class!! Not bad! The craftsmanship and driveability of this vehicle are unmatched. 4 years/50,000 miles of free maintainence put us over the top. I'd take the X3 over the Acura RDX any day of the week and twice on Sunday, and I have driven Hondas/Acuras for years!

My First BMW & The Best Car I Have Ever Owned!
BMW seems to have made many improvements over previous models. I have all the options except Sport Package and I enjoy them all. Excellent handling and good ride with plenty of power. All this with good mileage, about 22 MPG in mixed mountain driving. The best I have seen.

SUV with sport sedan dynamics
This is my second BMW and is just as much fun to drive as my 325xi. So far, I love everything about this vehicle and shouldn't be compared to the older X3's...there is no comparison.

First SUV
After owning 2 other BMW sport sedans and a few other sport cars I thought I would try this SUV (or SAV?). I was worried about the dramatic change from going to an SUV but I was quite surprised. I think it handles as good or better than my 2004 330 and rides as nice as my 1997 540 I had before that. The acceleration feels quicker than the 330 and it is still quoted at getting better gas mieage! Overall I think it was a great choice although I have yet to take advantage of the SUV features (space, AWD, etc).

Love the way it feels
This SAV has a great feel and soundness to it. It's the best handling and tightest SUV I've driven.
