Great looks, performance, design but unreliable

This car is a blast to drive but unfortunately being 56,000 miles, maintenance costs are expensive and things are starting to break. I love BMWs and probably always will but I will never own one out of warranty again. They are just too unreliable once they get a few years old and over 50,000 miles. I think They are a great car to lease or buy new to keep for a few years or even buy used with a certified preowned warranty. But again super high maintenance costs and even when simple things break is three or four times the amount to fix than on almost any other type of car. BMW, keep designing the cars the way you are just make them more reliable please.

Diesel Emission Controls make the car worthless

Avoid the diesel version of the X5. Germans have not figured out emissions controls to meet US specs. Car has had 5 major overhauls of the emissions control system, plus one recall. Each time spending thousands of dollars. Every component from EGR to DFP and everything in between has been replace, some more than once!

My dream car

This is one of the best car I ever own, its completely satisfied my expectation with amazing performance, design, driving pleasure. It has a lot of necessary options which makes your experience and comfort way more better. The only thing its not so reliable and expensive in maintenance. All of All I'm gonna buy new X5 as soon as I get rich ;)

Reliability is below average and part s are very e

BMW does not hold value well, but it (x5 50i) drives great, a lot of power. If you love driving and willing to pay, then BMW is ok.

Fantastic in the mountains and snow

Great SUV with plenty of power! Good gas mileage. Handles well in the snow and mountains. Plenty of room in the back for a dog, etc.

Best diesel SUV

I have owned this vehicle for 7 years, it is very reliable with great gas mileage for a good sized SUV. The interior and exterior still look brand new. All the amenities have remained comparable to today?s standards.
