Another Equinox engine bites the dust.
My wife drove her 2012 Equinox for just over 100,000 pampered miles. She faithfully changed the oil using high-cost synthetic oil to ensure the longevity of the engine. When the check engine light came on last week, she quickly took it to a mechanic who told her it's burning oil and needs a new engine. What a disappointment. We bought a Chevy wanting to get a US manufactured car and got such a poor lifetime from the Equinox.

One issue
My 2012 equinox had an oil consumption issue which the dealer opted to fix for no cost. I feel it is the cause of me needing a new engine now at 127,000 miles.

Buyer be Ware
I bought my 2012 Equinox brand new. It only had 8 miles on it off the lot from test driving. I hadn't really had any major issues UNTIL it hit 100k miles. Almost instantly (at 100,145 to be exact) I began having MAJOR engine issues. After a few thousand dollars in diagnostics and pointless "fixes" that didn't even fix anything and several appointments through Chevy, I found that the timing chain was pretty much shot. I was told that it would cost $10,000 to fix. I never in my life thought that I'd have to buy another car after less than 10 years with this one. I thought I'd get to 200k (or atleast 150k at a minimum) of shelf life before I really began having major MAJOR issues like I am now. I've taken extremely good care of the car-no accidents, I have maintenance done on a regular bases, use higher quality gas and oil but in the end none of that even matter. I wont buy a Chevy ever again. Car looks good, has decent gas mileage but doesn't have that longevity other brands have. Don't really get your money's worth in the end. Buyer be aware.

VERY POOR ENGINE
My fiancé traded her 2011 siverado for a 2012 equinox and it was the worst mistake vehicle wise that we have ever made. We got the car at about 75,000 miles and around 100,000 miles the timing chain broke when she was driving home from work. It messed up the head and valves pretty bad and was going to be cheaper just to put a new engine in it. We had a mechanic put one in and soon after the engine was making noise. I checked the oil and it was about 3.5 quarts low after only about 1500 miles. We took it back to the mechanic who then replaced the rear main seal. The engine still used the same amout of oil. He couldn't find anywhere else that the oil was leaking so, after a long strenuous process of dealing with the company he got the engine from, they finally sent another one. This engine had the exact same problem. We tried talking to the company and they would not back the second engine. So now we are just stuck with the car and have to put about 3.5 quarts of oil in every 1500 miles. We have know 3 other people to have an equinox with the 2.4 liter engine and they have all also had the exact same problem. I 100% do not recommend anyone to buy one of these cars.

Safest, most comfortable ride!
I bought my first exuinox in 2019 and I absolutely LOVED it. It was so comfortable and for as big as it looks it handled like a normal car. I who is normally scared to death to drive in snow was no longer afraid to leave the house. The kids loved it as well! I ended up wrecking it head over tail and rolled three times! The only thing I messed up was my suspension. Me and my kids didn't even get a scratch on us! I would most definitely say it is the safest vehicle I have ever been in! Cudos to chevy for making such a wonderful safe and comfortable ride!

A few mechanical problems but a pretty good car
It's a used a car. We haven't long enough to accurately judge the true performance of this car. However.... The dealer didn't really repair all that should have been repaired. Despite this, it's a fairly decent car.

I’ve been offered many times to trade No way
I’ve owned many cars I absolutely loved my Saturn which went out of business. Next to them I chose the Chevrolet because we have always owned Chevrolet.I find them to be very reliable. And I love the equinox especially with the E 85 gas.

Most unreliable car I’ve ever owned.
BAD ENGINES! These cars are very notorious for bad engines. I did not know this when I bought the vehicle. But after having to fork out an additional $3200 a month after buying it, I found out they are bad all out. And the dealership knew.

Burns a lot of oil
Car has 74000 miles and burns about 4quarts of oil between oil changed. GM offers to pay only part of the repair on a problem in the motor they designed.
