worst ride of any vehicle

My 1996 K1500 lasted 20 years and was the best vehicle I ever owned, but got rusty so I replace it. I have never had a vehicle with a rougher ride. Every little bump in the road is felt and larger ones are a major jolt. When serviced, under warranty, I asked about this and they just said that they are different vehicles and that's just the way it is.

4.3 double cab long bed

I bought this truck with 45k miles on it and have put just about another 10k on in the past year. Really liked the size of the double cab with the longer bed as it's still a truck and not just an SUV with a short bed. The power for the 6 cylinder is plenty for acceleration or towing with confidence. In fact, the engine specs are the same as the '04 V8 vortec, just with better mpg. The 4x4 is a great option to have. Prior to the leveling kit I added, the truck was just as comfortable as the Volvo xc90 I had previously owned. My absolute favorite part of owning it is the design, what a gorgeous truck it is.

Nice truck, great engine (6.2)

Have owned several Silverados and this one is my first heavily loaded one( LTZ crew Z71 off road, etc.) My favorite option is the 6.2 liter engine. Have had old school 350’s, 454’s, 5.3’s, and 6.0’s. This 6.2 has more power than any of those and can still get 20 mpg on the road at posted speeds. 15-17 around town. Only drawback is it requires premium fuel for best performance. Truck has to many bells and whistles to list here, but I am enjoying them all. One exception is the 8 speed tranny. There are many forums and on line articles bemoaning it. Just had dealer do diagnostics and perform GM tech service bulletin concerning the issues. Seems that the factory installed fluid is not up to the task. Flushed with a new “special” fluid from Mobile 1 and so far, seems to have taken care of it. Bulletin says takes 200 miles to realize full effect. So far so, so good. No other problems with this truck.

After about 6 months of owning

I’ve owned my truck for about 6 months now. I bo Light it with 44,000 miles. I’m a pipeliner so I need something that can handle a lot of miles, and some rough terrain. Since I’ve bought it I have upgraded my intake, my brakes, my exhaust, and put a performance chip in it. Aside from what I’ve done under the hood, I’ve lifted it up 2.5 inches. Put custom wheels, and 33 inch mud tires on it. Blacked out the windows with 20 percent tint, repainted the grill, along with the brake calipers. And when I drive my truck around I turn heads. But aside from how it looks, my truck runs phenomenally. I average about 19 MPG. And there isn’t a mud hole I can’t trudge through with my truck. Needless to say, this if the first Chevy I’ve ever owned. And after seeing how it looks when it’s upgraded, and how it runs souped up, I’ll never buy anything but a Chevy. I recommend this over any other truck out on the market. I see guys I work with drive fords and rams, and they don’t get the mileage I get. They can’t go where I go, and they don’t look as good as mine does. Stock I run 335 horsepower, and after all the upgrades I’m pushing 450 horsepower, and she runs like a total beast. I plan on upgrading the throttle body and installing a throttle control module also. But as of now my truck is the best truck I could imagine owning

Nothing but emissions problems

I have enjoyed Silverados for 25 years. This is the 2nd worst truck I’ve owned. My next will be a dodge or ford. The price goes up but the quality goes down. At 40k catalytic converter went out. The dealer ship replaced it no problem. But that was as far as it went. They never checked the cause for it to go bad. Don’t know if I can trust them to correct the issue. This is a certified preowned. Why pay more money for a certified preowned? Just frustrating I don’t know if I can trust this truck for our family trip out west this summer
