A Pleasure to drive

Cars.com was an outstanding source in my search for a car. I choose the Dodge Magnum R/T, and I love it. It is the type of car in which you can't wait each day to get in it and drive. It has power,it's extemely spacious, it has a sense of grace, and most of all it is totally dependable. I would hope that everyone has a chance to experience the Dodge Magnum R/T its a vehicle in its own class.

Magnum RT

Purchased a used 2005 Magnum RT with about 60k from a dealer that had just gotten it from an auction, so it was missing a lot of little things (fuse box cover, jack, manual, flood light surrounds, GPS antenna, etc). The dealer agreed to replace the majority of those, so we struck a deal. The end price was about what the SXT models with similar mileage were bringing locally, so I was definitely happy there. The hemi has power to spare, and has been very reliable for me so far. Mileage has been around 16 mpg, but that's been on surface streets for the most part (not much highway use yet to improve that average). No problems mechanically whatsoever, except for some squeaking in the front end, likely the rod ends from what I've read. The interior is very roomy and comfortable with leather heated seats, A/C, 6 disc changer, etc. Haven't been able to use the navigation yet, as I still need to get a GPS antenna (which unfortunately also prevents you from setting the clock in the head unit, strange). The only real problem has been the moon roof. 90% of the time, it has been absolutely perfect. However, during heavy, drenching rains (which this summer has been full of, unfortunately), the moon roof leaks. Mechanically, it opens and closes fine (and tightly it appears), but it must need to be resealed, which I haven't had quoted yet for repair. All in all, a very nice, roomy ride with lots of power in reserve should you need it. Great car, just skip the moon roof, lol.

Happy with SkyRider bought at 50K is now 56K

We always name our cars and this one is skyrider. The bad - Problems with the MDS or Something else Air Fuel related when purchased. I had to change the Crankshaft position sensor, Camshaft position sensors and both precat O2 sensors. Problem seems to be gone.... Acted up when rainy - hasn't been rainy yet. Squeaky dash. Boston Acoustic rear speakers are going out. They are a near custom fit so replacement options are limited and mostly expensive. SunRoof doesn't seal all they way when closing needs a little nudge. (but every sunroof I have owned has been cranky) 18.8 MPG city highway mix, somedays a heavy foot. The awesome. Power, comfort, features. This thing loves the 2 lane roads. Oh...is that a big slow farm truck in my lane ...well allow me to put my foot down and see the open road ahead of me. This thing accelerates. You could smoke most punk kids in the ricers it you wanted to... I can run steady with my coworks modded to the max turboed Civic.. and I haven't touched mine ...yet. The seats are comfy, The leather is soft, the ride is quiet, my kids love the room in the back, the rear windows go all the way down. If this car doesn't have one of those gremlin issues I will have it for a very long time. Im loving it.

Sweet Ride!

I bought a 2005 with 7500 miles this year. It has the Hemi with plenty of power and suprisingly the gas mileage isn't too bad. The vehicle is very comfortable and has plenty of hauling room with the rear seats folded down. I fit a full size door in the back with the hatch closed. Good work Dodge!

Great Car

My 1995 Jag XJR hit 150K and was finally requiring expensive repairs. I wanted a rear drive V8 and after testing the GTO, 300C,and expensive imports fell in love with the Magnum R/T. I've had it 5 years and it has been bullet proof. I did upgrade to 255-55-18 Z-rated tires and they improved the handling and look of the car. Best overall car I've ever owned. Interior dash plastics could be better but fit with the cost of vehicle.

Used RT A Great Surprise

Bought my Black '05 RT from a friend. 72,000 miles. He installed 22" wheels, making the car look like a Mob Sled, as my son refers to it. I am considering going back to the original 18" wheels. This car has Mercedes touches everywhere. The seats are firm with thick leather, the transmission is smooth, the engine is frighteningly powerful. The sound system is as clear and strong as any I've heard in a vehicle. The sunroof is a great touch. This is a man-car. Solid. Tough. I love the styling.

Ahh man from an 04 maxima to an 05 magnum rt

Well I had an 04 Nissan maxima and I wanted something with more power and rwd so I was looking around and I looked at the GTO,CHARGER,and the 300C.I liked the GTO didn't see all of them on the road and in ny that's big to be different but the inside was to lame. The charger is nice except EVERYONE has one and a good srt8 is still out of my reach and that goes the same for the 300. To be honest I didn't like either car because I didn't think they were fast but was I wrong.just for a joke I said let me look up the magnum but I only want the V8 found one and went for a test drive as soon as I touched the gas peddle that was it I knew it had 340hp and 390ft but everyone said they were slow and good for nothing they were wrong and so was I. I love speed and this car gives it to ne every single time no matter how fast I am going the power is there. So in short all I can say to help out the next person is go test drive on and the HEMI will speak to you.

Very Nice in and out

I have almost 70,000 miles and have not had any trouble with this vehicle at all. The reason for the poor performance rating is the 2.7l is underpowered for this vehicle but provides good gas milage for such a big car. The SE model is the base model and it had more standard features than I would have ordered PW, PL, Keyless, Nice Radio, tinted windows, roof rack, etc.... Much easier to get in and out of then some smaller cars that don't get much better gas milage. Plenty of room for everyone plus extra stuff. I have carried 8' material and closed the back door. Try that with an import car (not an SUV).
