Great Gas mileage
Bought my 08 Ford Escape Hybrid in May. Upgraded from an 03 ford explorer. Basically doubled my gas mileage, which was awesome. Love the look and feel of the car. The only problem I've had is an issue with the waterpump going out a few months in. Brought it to the dealership and it was covered under warranty, so I'm back to loving my new hybrid! I do wish it had cost a little less upfront to make an even bigger difference in my overall cost of driving versus my old explorer, but I'm still saving money in the end!

32.8 MPG
Quiet running hybrid. Big, roomy vehicle (when you trade up from a Scion). Sits high so you are able to see the road better. Very reliable, solid vehicle. It's so nice to be stuck in traffic and not waste gas. When the engine idle dies down, the battery kicks in. I've gotten it up to 30 MPH on battery. There is a nice between seats armrest with storage. Back seats fold down and rock forward to allow a flat surface from tailgate to front seats. I used to have to get my brother to help me move bags of fertilizer, furniture, etc, but now that I've got my bigger vehicle, I don't have to bother him. Tailgate's window opens independently from door. I'm not big on engines, but I've got pick up when I need it for merging onto highways. I've had the vehicle for 4 months now and I think it's awesome. I use the car for driving to work thru the city, running errands in my little rural area, and transporting animals to from the shelter to the vet, and to their homes. I do the same with this car as I did with my Scion. It just has a lot more room, and better gas mileage... and it's made in America.

2008 FEH
Ilike the truck very much. I should mention that it is equipped with the Ford Navigation system which includes several additional features not available without the screen and it has an advanced audiophile digital signal proceeor that sounds great. Also, the front seats and steering wheel are leather. The one issue I have with it is the trouble lights come on briefly from time to time, both for the HEV and for the engine, although there is no identfiable problem that needs repair. In 2009 Ford switched to electric air conditioning so the car can run in electric vehicle mode even with the A/C on, but I live in the North-East so it's not so much of a problem. Also, I had to buy cross bars for the roof rack as an accessory. I'm a former auto mechanic and I think this is the best engineered vehicle I have ever owned.

First Hybrid - would buy another
Have owned about 3 months, handles fine in the summer - waiting for snow to test the "AWD". Ford says they cover Hybrid train, but I have about 50,000 miles and there have been 3 motors/fans/parts that needed to be replaced, all part of the hybrid train, and none were covered under warranty. "Get up & go" is there, but consistently hitting 4,000 RPM to get from 40 to 60mph, so gas mileage suffers for it. Averaging about 29mpg.

Love my hybrid
I love my new hybrid. 30.2 mpg! Has the space of a suv and drives like a car! Leather interior is easy to clean. Nav center is the bomb. Radio, Gps, calendar, you name it, its there! Drives like a dream! Love the fact that the car runs electric part time. Save the planet one step at a time.

Ford Escape Hybrid PHEV
I bought this Escape to convert it to a plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle. It has the NAV system which is rare in these vehicles and is awesome. I wouldn't buy one without this feature. It has GPS, hybrid monitoring, 6 disc CD changer that reads MP3 disks and a bunch of other features on a 7 inch touch screen. With the 4 kWh battery I added I am getting 45 to 50 mpg in this vehicle. Without it I get 27 mpg in winter and up to 35 mpg when it is warm. The inside is nicely designed and comfortable.

Best mileage in SUV class and fun to drive
I have been driving this 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid for 2 months now after trading my 2006 Honda Pilot EX-L (which I loved, other than the 18 mpg). After looking at several different SUVs I settled on the FEH and found a very nice used 2008. It handles well, is relatively quiet, has very good pickup, the exterior looks great, and it gets 31 mpg overall thanks to the hybrid/gas engine. It is certainly smaller than the Pilot (no 3rd row, and it is about 4 inches less wide), but the front seems to have more legroom (I'm 6`2") and my kids are young enough so they fit fine in their booster seats in the 2nd row. I'm sure there will be occasions when I miss the extra room, and the fit and finish overall is not as polished as the Pilot, but the increase in mileage from 18 to 31mpg and the opportunity to buy American for the first time since 1986 were my key motivations. I would highly recommend the Ford Escape Hybrid and I'm happy to see Consumer Reports has it on their "Best of the Best" list.

Very Unreliable Junk
I've owned a 2008 Escape hybrid for 2 years now and originally loved it. Now that it's sitting in the shop for the 3rd major repair I realize I've made a big mistake. It's a shame that they can't make a reliable vehicle. I was on the Interstate once and the thing just shut down. After restarting it everything worked fine but now the brakes failed. I've had to have other parts replaced etc.. If you do buy it get the extended warranty as you'll need it.

08 Ford Escape
This car is pitiful. It worked great until it was at 60,500 miles. The warranty was out than it fell apart. It will stop without warning. It has been towed to the dealership 11 times in the last 6 months. The dealership tells me nothing is wrong with the car. They kept it 2 weeks one time and decided that they should change the Hybrid battery. Ford corp. office is now involved but I still have a car that stops whenever it feels like stopping. Who cares if you are going 80 mph on the interstate and your car downshifts to about 20 with no warning. Ford obviously does not. I wish this car would catch on fire and the way ford has handled it... I will never buy another Ford again.
