Needed a lot of work
This SUV had a good price...for a reason, it was a lemon. The ac didnt work, the tire blew out during the test drive and it also started to run hot. I didnt think it would make it back to the dealership!

Still Trucking After All These Years!
I bought this truck used with over 200,000 miles on it and my concern is the low gas mileage and that the exterior is showing its age !

Very convenient
Me and my family loves this vehicle. It's very roomy and convenient for a family of 5. We have the option to have a third row seat or not. When we go grocery shopping we still have plenty of rooms for everyone to be comfortable.

Learned to drive.
I learned to drive in my parents 1998 Ford Expedition xlt. I will say that it the experience has given me the ability to handle vehicles of different sizes very well, there isnt much on the market that is much bigger unless you are talking about fleet vehicles. Like all Fords, so long as you put it back together it will keep running. We have had it sense about 2001 and it still runs. Common problems are the ball joints squeaking, gear indicator being off mark, rust on the roof, and oil pan leak. Most you should be able to fix at home and specialty tools can be borrowed from the auto parts store you buy the parts from.

200,000 miles of good driving
My family bought this car in 1997 when it came out--the 5.4L Eddie Bauer model. At the time it was top of the line: leather captains chair, folding and removable seating, and CD changers. Come 2017, it's quite the dated car. Averaging 13 miles to the gallon (especially in the city), it was no match for the high gas prices a few years ago. But the longevity of a Ford truck showed itself. In 19 years, I replaced an intake manifold, serpentine belt, spark plugs and a coil, and a radiator. Sold it for $1400 cash--could've gotten $2000 if I'd tried harder. Good car, great space.

Best Value in a Full Sized SUV today
I have owned "Big Green" for about a year, she has 127,000 miles, and she drives like new. Mine has a the 5.4L Triton, is 2WD, and has the HD trailer package with air suspension. This is one of the best riding vehicles that I have owned. The Expedition is incredibly smooth on the highway, handles well for it's size, and is relatively quiet. I have had to replace tires with Michelin's Defender LTXs..they are superb. I replaced the air shocks which cost about $270 including the air shocks. Very reliable. The front seats should be called thrones. The rear seats are less comfortable, but I'm not sitting back there which so it's not a problem. Ford did a superb job assembling this vehicle and after 20 years of service there are no rattles, the plastics have not faded, and the leather remains supple. As others have noted the gas mileage is not great, but with such low purchase prices (about $3k for a 1998 in great condition) complaints should be minimal. You can't go wrong with the Expedition. I look forward to to driving it everyday.

best vehicle ever owned, very roomy
Love it! 0 problems! Very durable and comfortable. I have a child with a brain injury and sitting up high helped avoid seizures from headlights from on coming cars. Replaced it with an 06, huge regrets!
