My research began of which truck to buy.

My research began of which truck to buy. I couldn't afford a new one so it was definitely going to be a used truck. I looked at both dealerships of Ford and Chevy. Wasn't a fan of Dodge 4WD trucks because of it's looks and it's loud exhaust. The comparisons in Ford won my decision in the F-250 4WD Crew Cab but it came with decisions of which two different diesel engines would be installed in the truck I wanted to purchase. I wanted a diesel engine over gas for it's excellent mileage to and from work. Now, I had to do research which diesel engine would be the best fit for me. I'm guilty for using the web on helping me decide which was the better diesel engine. I chose the 7.3 diesel engine over 6.0 liter because of it's high reviews and reliability. At work, I drove a rental Ford f-450 diesel boom truck at which I enjoyed driving. It's reliability never broke down like the gasoline boom trucks my company purchased later. In 2013, the truck I purchased was over 10 years old. The mileage didn't bother me as much as the price did. The interior was fairly clean. The previous owner took pride in maintaining his truck. I chose leather seats over fabricated ones. Ford's King Ranch almost won my vote for purchasing one of their trucks. Their beautiful leather two tone interior can win anyone's heart. The new trucks had an improved 6.7 liter diesel engine which says has better mileage than the 7.3 diesel engine. I have friends that still drive their early aged F-250's with over a million miles on them. They like to telling me stories of their experiences what their Ford trucks pulled of their private boats or trailers. I chose my F-250 from it's high reviews, it's price, it's beige leather interior, and it's exterior color of dark green. This truck has given me more pleasure than I can explain here on this website. If you choose to buy a truck new or used. Do your research, but buy a Ford truck. You can never go wrong with them.

Great truck

I have a 2002 super duty lariat with the 7.3 and I won’t trade or sell it for anything. Done some performance upgrades and makes it fun to drive.

Most unreliable vehicle I ever owned

We are talking about a one owner 2003 F250 6.0 turbo diesel with 155,000 miles on the clock. Just spend $10,000 bullet proofing* (Read Fixing FORD's design flaws on my dime) Injectors shot, high oil pressure pump shot, turbo shot and the list goes on. No help from dealers. recently I got laughed at when I told the cat died because a gasket blew (warranty just expired by 1,000 miles) back then and the cat drank the coolant. Yes I agree the truck is 17 years old. So there is that. And yes, close to $18,000 was spend over the last 17 years keeping his FORD on the road on repairs alone. Needles to say, I am done with FORD. If they would have lived up to there mistakes, design flaws and helped there costumer instead of cleaning out there bank accounts I would say let's buy another FORD.

In 7.3 we trust

I own a 7.3 2002 F250 lariat. Dark highland green over tan. 275k on the odometer but she still runs and pulls like a champ! These trucks if found rust free hold their value. It sounds like a diesel, so you have to turn it off in a drive through.

Great Value, Extremely Well Maintained

This truck was able to pull a 5th wheel trailer (circa 2000) up to the Eisenhower Tunnel on I-70 at 50-60 mph with no problems. It is extremely powerful and fuel costs less than Diesel. It has been used only as a tow vehicle.

I loved this truck!

The 7.3 is legendary! The body styling was on point! The rust on the fender wells was easily covered by fender flares and looked better than new! I did have a timing cover crack at one point, which would push reliability back to 4.5 for me, but it couldn't make me stop loving the truck! It kept its value amazingly! I paid $6300 for it in 2017 and sold it for $11000 in 2018! The transmissions don't last forever on them - I'm just glad my truck had already had its replaced!
